While walking my dog, I noticed how well-maintained and family-friendly the grounds were. I could hear the school intercom during what sounded like a summer program activity, possibly a rock-paper-scissors tournament, which created a fun and positive atmosphere. The park itself offers plenty of options for children and families, including playground equipment, swings, slides, basketball and tennis courts, and educational nature signs featuring local wildlife information. The grounds were clean and well-kept overall. The only area that appeared to need some attention was portions of the foam safety surface beneath the playground equipment. My dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning. Bowie continues to impress as a community that is welcoming to both families and pets. When I drop my child off, I'm greeted by every staff member and they know my child by name including the principal. The staff engages me in his educational goals regularly and keeps me up to date on all changes to help meet these goals . We were unable to get him into public school because of his birth date. But, once my husband and I visited the school, met the teachers and learned more about their curriculum and teaching methods, we knew that not being able to send him straight to kindergarten was a true blessing in disguise. My son is very bright and has excellent communication skills. So, I didn't realize that he just wasn't ready for kindergarten at that time. But, within a month at Corkran, my son showed tremendous improvement in his writing and phonetics and other skills that are essential for kids to succeed. Corkran is a fantastic place for a child to learn--and the Christian emphasis is an added benefit. The only reason I shorted them a star is the fact that they close at 5:30 and trend to close for the whole week during every major holiday. This could present a problem for some working parents. My daughter would scream coming to the center and when she was picked up was frequently off on her own. She had multiple injuries, which is understandable for a 2 year old. However, the final straw was when my daughter was bit in class, in FIVE DIFFERENT AREAS, and I was told she was bit twice. I asked to see the incident on video and that never happened. I showed the images to my pediatrician and to other people and they were uphauled by what they saw. I could see EACH TOOTH on my daughters leg. This to me is negligence. If you want to know what your child is doing on a daily basis, don't go here. Her first day was great, we got regular updates on the app they provide, but after that if we got ANY update it was alerting us when we dropped off / picked up our child. We even gave them IPADS. Yes, we donated IPADS to the center to just get updates as they said their teachers couldn't do regular updates due to lack of something to do the updates on. Nothing changed. We reached out to the owner as she told us to contact her whenever we have an issue. We had multiple issues we brought to her attention. What was her response to this? We get an email saying your daughter is being removed from the center and that day was her last day. This was ridiculous. I showed the email I sent and the response I got, to multiple people and found it to be unprofessional. Regardless, we have my daughter at another center. The funny thing is we have not one time had to complain and she's been at this one longer. She has learned and developed more and actually cries LEAVING as she has so much fun. The staff turnover is crazy at this location and seem to be bothered when you had questions. My wife dropped off our daughter before to staff members too busy on their phones than to help get my daughter settled. They even had a morning person who my daughter would SCREAM AT THE SIGHT OF. When I brought this to the attention of the owner I was told that person was not a "people person". And they are working around children? Again, you may have different experiences. I would not wish for this place on anybody and the best decision we made was leaving there!

Beginning at Pre - K 3 students are taught to be kind along with their academic goals. St. Mary's offers full day programs for ages 3-8th grade along with before and after care. Rigorous education is provided as well as many extracurricular activities. Students use hands on approaches to build a rain forest, design engineering projects and put on plays. Each teacher invests in their students and their progress. It is an amazing place to send my kids. I feel so blessed to have made this choice for my children.

She told my class when we were in line treat me like how you treat your parents but some kids don't treat their parents that well. I suppose the joke is on us since we didn't pull our kid and put her in Arch Bishop after we really learned this school didn't align with our values at all. My daughter was also an underachiever, so that was on her. We did watch other kids really soar and have some wonderful opportunities offered. There were a few stand out teachers and some 1 college counselor who really did care:) if you want to send your kid to private school go with Arch Bishop. I faced relentless, systematic bullying by the vast majority of the student body, literally only four students during my entire time there did not mistreat me. Shockingly, the only time administration ever engaged with me regarding these issues was so that I could face disciplinary action from when I finally tried to stand up for myself. And they tell you it's mandatory if your child will be in the school for the summer. Nevermind the regular tuition you have to pay or just paid, but if you don't pay the summer fees, the warning was, your child cannot be in the school. Then they tell you music class is $12.50 and phonics classes are $25.
