This is a small community church where everyone knows everyone else. New people are easily and…read morequickly accepted and incorporated into the group. The idea is that church is more than a place to praise God, but also a place to learn about Him, friendship with others who believe similarly and live a Christian life. The Bible is the blueprint for all decisions--but there is no koolaide, strange dresses or separation from the surrounding community. In fact, the church is very active in the community. In the past, it has sponsored a car show, a chili cook-off, a coffee booth at the County Fair, "Scream Acres" for Halloween and an outdoor Nativity play--all in an effort to acquaint others to the message of Christianity: salvation through Christ's love and sacrifice. It provides support and direction for those who need it. The pastor is very personable and presents the life lessons in a way that is easily understandable and applicable to life in today's world. There is a nursery for babies and toddlers and Children's Church for older kids. Songs are contemporary, and the church has its own band--it is very loud but heartfelt and joyous! The neighbors certainly cannot sleep in on Sundays! The church also has a school associated with it. The academics are great for preparing children to live a Christian life in the world; several kids have gone on to college, but those who don't are well prepared to live independent lives (math includes budgeting, check writing, etc). I truly believe this church is what Christ had intended for man. And while some bemoan its size, I think it is perfect as it is. If it were larger, there would not be the closeness between parishioners (obtained with "small groups" in other churches). The school is called King's Landing Academy, which is why I wrote about the church. But if you want to know about the school, the same info applies. It is small, everyone knows everyone else, and it is based on The Bible and Bible principles. "Classes" are self-taught using self-learning packets developed by a national company. Adults are present to help with any learning problems. All grades are represented, and kids learn to interact with all age groups. There are cool field trips and physical education activities where everyone is involved. It is also a very good school for kids who are bullied in public school or need more personalized attention to achieve their learning goals.

If you read my review of the church, you would know that it is designed to help children know God and learn to live a Christian life in this world. It prepares kids a little differently than public school: there is Bible verse memorization, first aid instruction, chapel, and self-learning packets. Math includes budgeting, check writing and what would be considered business math elsewhere. All the children interact with all grade levels. There is physical education where everyone participates and cool (frequent) field trips (the kindergarten class got to go to 7-11 to buy Slurpees--everyone learned to purchase their drink and count their change). Good behavior and academic achievement earns privileges; bad behavior is identified and corrected, and the child is allowed to earn back privileges. Missing out on a field trip is usually enough to encourage good behavior, but if not, "corporal correction" is used. This is an excellent school for kids who have difficulty in public school because the class size is small, all age groups learn to interact respectfully, and opportunities for individual instruction abound. But I don't want to portray this school as only for "troubled" or bullied kids; it is an excellent school for any child. There is true interest in each child's wellbeing, achievement and development. Graduates go on to college or to the workforce. And they are all supported and encouraged regardless.
