Surrounded by gorgeous trees in a nice neighborhood... and it's near the hospital just in case your kids get a little too "spirited" with their jousting. Ha! All the adults and children role played as if we lived way back in the day and we were able to facilitate this given the awesome playground. There is seating outside and inside the area with benches everywhere. There are restrooms available. Oh and there was a Pokemon gym so that was awesome to have as I do like to play when I can. We didn't utilize these features but we could see a few fields and there was a team practicing baseball. There are also a few areas for hopscotching and four square. Well work the visit for all parties involved.

We saw the Red-cockaded Woodpecker which was awesome. The helpful Staff member at the Visitor Center showed us pictures and played the sounds of them which was very helpful in locating them. We also saw a Fox Squirrel which was also a first. The Visitor Center is very nice, with a Nature Center and very clean restrooms. Definitely will be back !!!

Rock Ridge Park is a great little park hidden away off the main highway. It's a community nature…read morepark on land donated by a nearby business. Although it's still being developed, the park offers a nice paved walking path (and a natural path) that winds through the wooded area. There's a small playground (made out of natural wood materials ) for the younger kids and an outdoor amphitheater and a small picnic shelter, and all along the path are benches available to sit and watch the surrounding activity, if that's your preference. I also saw the frames for the short zipline, but am not sure when or if it's operating. Dogs are allowed on the paths, and there a plenty of stations available to pick up after your furry friend, and future plans appear to include a dog park, disc golf that's under construction, an open field and bike trails. It was pretty quiet the day I was there, early in the morning before the heat kicked in, so I had plenty of time to explore. Although it's in a wooded area, the trees are cut back from the path leaving plenty of room to walk. That's going to be useful as more people find this place and take advantage of all it offers.

The splash pad concrete is slippery, so no running and water shoes are a good idea. If your kids are like mine, they will go from the water to the park and back a 100 times, so be prepared for dirty kids. Have fun!
