Excellent program, went through LVN program prior to the pandemic. I felt well prepared for my job. Although some times were frustrating for my peers and I, it did begin to prepare for the real world of nursing and medical where you have to stand up and advocate for yourself and others, try to make positive changes, and speak up when there are deficits or needs. I am currently prusing my RN, and CCI did prepare me very well ethically and academically compared to my peers. I felt very prepared by my various instructors throughout the program. The program was tough, but medical is even tougher, but so worth it. After graduating, I was able to make enough to support myself and start my family, which was my goal when starting the program. The reason I knocked off a star was that I received phone calls from ECMC Capella loans stating I was behind on my payments and owed them fees. However my loans were not financed through them (I used my previous loan provider, as I already had existing federal loans) and after some back and forth, CCI did release my personal information to this organization without my consent years after I graduated read more

Today was the final day of my BSN program, and I am incredibly thankful. Finishing this chapter also made me reflect on an experience I had with Career Care Institute. I originally completed my LVN program at Career Care Institute and graduated at the top of my class. Years later, during a very difficult period in my life, I decided to return to school and continue advancing my education. Because I had previously done well at CCI and had also completed nearly an entire RN program elsewhere, I returned to CCI hoping to transition into their RN program. Unfortunately, my experience the second time around was very different. One of the most disappointing moments was hearing a nursing leader speak negatively about admitting LVNs into the program. As an LVN who had already successfully completed this school's own nursing program, it was incredibly belittling to hear LVNs discussed as though our education and experience somehow made us less capable of becoming RNs. I was given the opportunity to test into the program through expensive challenge exams. After passing one exam, I paid another $500 for the next. That exam was disproportionately concentrated on HIV and HIV pharmacology, and I did not achieve the required score. The testing system then allowed me to reopen the exam without showing me the correct answers. I changed some answers to see whether my alternate choices would have resulted in a passing score, and they did. Instead of asking me what happened, I was accused of cheating and efforts were made to prevent me from entering the program. That experience stayed with me. I felt that assumptions were made about my character and abilities without anyone first trying to understand my intent. I also felt that my status as an LVN was viewed negatively rather than as the nursing foundation that it was. Ironically, I am now grateful that things happened the way they did. Being turned away pushed me toward another nursing program, where I met instructors who encouraged growth rather than gatekeeping. I learned about concepts such as ethnocentrism and even heard nursing instructors openly discuss the culture of "nurses eating their young" and why our profession needs to move away from it. Those experiences helped shape the kind of nurse I want to be. And today, I finished my BSN. So my criticism of Career Care Institute is not coming from someone who could not succeed in nursing school. I succeeded there before, I succeeded after leaving there, and I continued advancing my education. My criticism is about how students are treated along the way. Nursing education should challenge students academically without belittling them, stereotyping them, or making assumptions about their character. Educators have tremendous influence over future nurses, and with that authority should come fairness, self-awareness, and a willingness to ask questions before passing judgment. I hope the school reflects on that, because sometimes the student you underestimate is simply going to take another road to get exactly where they were trying to go. read more

I love our dental instructor MISS JEANETTE!!! She is knowledgeable & supportive, I was able to succeed in this program, but it was thanks to the dedication and guidance of my amazing dental instructor! NOT because of the school!!! My instructor truly cared about our education and went above and beyond to help us learn and grow she treats each of her students as if we were her own! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the school itself. It's clear that the administration is more focused on pocketing money than actually supporting students! Many students were singled out, treated unfairly, and even threatened with termination for minor or unclear issues. When concerns were brought to leadership, including the Dental Director, we were told it was "out of her control." That response says everything! How did our INSTRUCTOR use her voice to fight for us! And our own dental director couldn't?! It became clear she simply didn't care. Rather than stepping in to help or make improvements, she distanced herself and dismissed concerns. That kind of leadership is unacceptable in a professional education setting. This created a hostile, stressful environment that makes it hard to focus on learning. This program had potential, but the way it's managed is disappointing and discouraging. Until serious changes are made, I would not recommend enrolling here. This school is stereotypical and hypocritical. I had my hair in a claw clip out of my face and not messy. They told me I need products in my hair or a head band to " hold it in place". The teacher embarrassed me and talked about me amongst the class in my face . I expressed that I was uncomfortable but it didn't stop . I went to talk to higher ups and they agreed with her and said I do need products in my hair to be " neat". Did my Dental Assisting course here and I don't regret it! Len was very helpful starting up the enrollment process and very nice . But most importantly I'd like to thank Ms .Garcia the AM instructor for the course. Throughout the course she was always an amazing and supportive teacher always pushing you to your full potential and always acknowledging the class hard work. I'm 5 months into my job now since I've graduated from her class and I can say she taught me well! Right off the bat I wasn't so lost and confused being in the dental field. I knew what to do and what to expect because of her course so thankyou, definitely recommend if your thinking about joining the dental field because they look for an externship site for you and help look for jobs if your extern isn't hiring. ALSO love that you graduate with 5 CERTIFICATIONS that you usually have to pay separately for at different schools or take the courses while work for example: coronial polishing, I'm able to do that as a RECENT grad DA that not all are allowed to do in a office right away. I took the course a few months ago and finished my externship where Mrs. Garcia placed me in and I immediately got hired! Everything I was taught in class by Mrs. Garcia is exactly how it is out in the dental offices! From General/Ortho/Endo/Perio/Charting/Coronal Polishing/X-rays etc. Even in the offices I shadowed at had the exact same concept from the course! She's very very very attentive to her students and will come help if you're stuck and show you again step by step from the beginning. She does mock procedures consistently and makes sure everyone in class has their turn. I would retake this course many times over if she was my instructor or to further my knowledge. If you're planning on attending the school we wear up their drug test. It is designed to fail every other student with a faulty test. Then they tell you. Oh, it comes back with positive drugs in your system. And they send you the next day after they give you results to go back to the clinic. And Your test comeback clean. They place you on probation for 30 days. It won't refine you your money. They treat you as if you did something wrong. The clinic also says they told them they need to fix their test. So I can work right. And people don't have to waste their money. I believe they were hoping that he came back dirty. So they can kick you out and you still have to pay for those loans. I loved this school. Took the MA program and passed. I feel like they are stricter than regular schools which gave me a better chance of being hired. While I was attending I also had a lot of help from staff. Once a week they would provide free groceries, clothes, and even diapers (sometimes) to help the students who needed it! They would also host free immunization days for family's in need. I would recommend the Medical assistant program. Since I graduated I've had a job as CMA and I don't regret it. i hope to start the RN program in the near future. read more

So I have been with CCI for TWO different programs. I did my MA in 2017 and now I'm finishing up my LVN. My MA program I had no problems. But with this LVN program it has been a complete nightmare. This program is SO unorganized and my classmates and I have given them so many chances but tonight really just topped it all off, so I felt the need I should finally leave my opinion on yelp. Starting off, THE SCHEDULES. Tonight I was not given my schedule until 10 P.M. being told that I have clinicals tomorrow at 9 A.M. They have absolutely no regard for anyone's lives and think that our lives revolve around them, when we were told in the beginning we would always have a 2 week notice before any changes in schedules. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN TRUE. SECOND OF ALL: Instructors are constantly late to clinical sites. Anywhere from 30mins- to 2 hours late is the longest IVE HAD TO WAIT. But if a student is so much 15 mins late, for whatever reason you are marked absent. THIRD REASON THIS SCHOOL IS A PIECE OF CRAP: They constantly are loosing documents. By documents let me give an example; we are told we must have all our vaccinations turned in when we start the program. Student services has REPEATEDLY lost mine and my classmates documents saying our vaccinations are up-to-date and then have the NERVE to penalize us for not requesting a copy before turning it in. It is always something with this school, I can go on and on. Don't get me wrong there are amazing teachers here, but it's more high up that have no idea what they are doing. This school does not care about their students. They recently changed where we graduate, they used to rent out a place for us to walk with our cap and gown, and now they transformed our old classroom into where we graduate! A CLASSROOM. Is our hard work and dedication not worth more? PLEASE DON'T GO HERE!! And thank you for reading this far, this school will try to suck you in by saying they have the highest passing rate for the NCLEX then any school out here which is true, but the disorganization of this school is no where near worth it! Especially if you have children or a job, DO NOT GO HERE. Like the example I gave above, I now have clinicals at 9 A.M. and was told 11 hours in advance. Spent 8 months prepping to enter this school for the 2022 RN program, moved 4 hours away from home to attend this school, moved all my belonging and rented a room by myself. During the 8 months it took me to sign up for the school, I was told the rating for the school was low due to the last class being upset that they didn't pass their NCLEX due to negligence on the students' own fault. Not completing assignments, scoring low on quizzes, etc. Was told that the school was actually good given their reputation due to the fact that the staff and faculty focus on student scored and encouraged/ offered tutoring to ensure students were graduating from the school. Many times was told by the admissions counselor that tutoring was available for RN students and it was on certain days of the week. I was actually the first one in the RN program to get admitted and signed up with all paperwork and pre qualification/ general education completed just for theory to start and when I asked about tutoring from my teacher, I was told to go to the office and enquire for it, and when I went to the office, I was told they didn't offer it and I would need to look for 3rd party assistance. Even the office staff were confused that I even asked, and directed me to my teacher for tutoring. Which is where I even asked for tutoring in the first place. I was actually excited to attend this school but after I told my family about this predicament, they told me to leave the program and join another one who won't run me around in circles. Lazarus was a good teacher not her fault but the institution on the other hand is not. Wasted a year of my life here to wrap up all general education they requested, submit all paperwork, move across the state of California and move into a new place by myself just to be treated like that. Graduated in 2021 during the pandemic with six other classmates. I've attended other local schools and this is the best school in the AV by far! We were back and forth between Mr. B and the program director as our instructors during my time here. Mr. B is the best teacher and support system you can have. He always goes above and beyond for his students. I couldn't have finished the program without him. The class is fast paced but as long as you do your part, you'll make it. Clinicals were a lot of fun, and helped me land a job right after graduation. The staff is super friendly and checked in on us periodically. Despite a pandemic this experience was one of the best times in my life. My only complaint which isn't really a big deal, is that they don't offer the RT program yet. My complaint is not on my teacher as she was amazing. However this school is a sham. I recently emailed about new jobs. (They are supposed to help me with job placement for the rest of my life) yet I have not received any word. Also I went to extern and had an accident. They insisted I go to THEIR Doctor. I told them I would much rather feel more comfortable about going to my own doctor as I can not afford bills and I have full coverage. They said I HAD TO go to their doctor or I wouldn't receive credit to graduate and not to worry as I paid for insurance in my tuition costs. Well a year later I'm still being billed for this appt! And the conveniently never return my phone calls and are never in their office! This goes on my credit!!! read more

My wife went to this location. She had an awesome teacher. Then she had a seizure and missed 2 days of school. She went back with a DRs note and was kicked out. She was 4.5 months in and they dropped her and said she needed to start over. She was smarter than the student hoodrats that ran the office. Smartest in her class also she was the only white girl, and half the staff was rude to her just for that fact. Im latino and the tone was way different when speaking to me. You will be a number and a nobody at this school. She owes $17k for no degree or cetification. CCI is about to get audited and sodomized by the FTB. CCI will lose certification if it takes me 10 years. And I will be on here every day. Fitgerald is the name you shouldnt have looked over. Applied to the newly approved nursing program located in Lancaster Ca (New RN program), that was supposed to start October 2018, however I never heard ANYTHING from this school. I submitted the required documents, and followed up via phone on multiple occasions, however I was given the run around per a male receptionist every time I called. When I asked to speak, or be transferred to a nursing staff regarding the selection process I was sent to voicemail or lied to regarding the process. I found it very strange that a nursing school wouldn't respond to even deny potential applicants. On several occasions when I attempted to follow up via phone call I was told the selection process would be via email, however I never received an email, letter, phone call, or anything regarding my application. I wasted time acquiring/paying for transcripts and getting my hopes up to be completely ignored. It's now late October and the RN program has already begun, so I just assume they threw my application packet in the trash. Overall, Weird experience and waste of time!!!!!!!!! read more

Some of the teachers/instructors are amazing and there are a few that I didn't care for. You have to take it for what it is and make the best of it. I was a student at Career Care Institute and graduated. After working in a hospital or two I realized that the school had not taught any hands on abilities and the Registered Nurses that were in charge of our clinical end of the training would give each student 2 patients to which we were told to get vitals for and that was about it. The registered nurses acted more like baby sitters than teachers and we as students lost out. I remember hearing about a fellow student who was so humiliated because of the lack of preparation that the school provided for working as a nurse that he/she hid in a bathroom till his shift was over. This school took hard earned money and made you feel stupid after you were left to go into work as a so called LVN. It's not a joke. It is tragic and someone should say something before anymore unsuspecting people are taken for thousands of dollars. read more

Absolutely worst school! My wife graduated valedictorian and I can say that I would not recommend the school. I have to say the education isn't too bad but the teachers are poor and the school staff doesn't care. $30,000 to be an LVN? For that you should be treated with respect. Not there. The school does play favorites and is racist. I have taught paramedic school at a local college and have been a Firefighter/Paramedic for 8 years. I have a little knowledge in the area you could say. I was not allowed at the campus nor could I ask questions concerning my wife. The rule the students with fear. The students are not allowed to say anything bad about the school or they get suspended. Don't ask current students what they think about the school as they are not allowed to speak badly. best school in the AV! They offer a lot of different programs. I am currently attending the LVN program which is only 14 months!!!. The staff are phenomenal,the instructors are remarkable. i love the hard efford they put in each student to help them suceed. You get hands on experience with the best instructors ever if you struggle they will help you achieve the skill. CCI recently invested in a mobile community RV , to help serve the community. The school also does recognize students hard work and dedication by having a student Appreciation Day , you may have heard good things or bad things but you will never know unless you check them out for yourself i would definitely recommend Career Care Institute in your school of interest towards the nursing field. They also offer financial aid , which accommodate your personal lifestyle .ATI is also available which is great way to prepare for the NCLEX exam, overall astonishing school. read more

I honestly wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. The school is very disorganized. At the beginning when you enroll the staff does go the extra mile to brain wash you and tell you is one of the best schools! I my self ended up leaving because everything the advertise is false! I don't understand how they can't even afford to provide the students with wifi for the time I was there we would always go to student services to complain about the internet not working and nothing was ever done! The vending machines in the school have expired stuff and they never once bother to replace anything. The staff is very poorly train they lie to you just to cover there butts!!! If you ever try getting a hold of Ariel good luck with that!!! She never fallows up with anything!!! Good luck if you emailed them regarding question you will never get an email back. I have never been so disappointed in my life with school. If you do decide to go to this school please don't get brain wash into getting the tablet they provide!!! It was my worst nightmare!!! Worst school you could possibly ever attend from dealing with the DON who's very very disorganized and only cares about the schools passing rate,to financial aid, to clinical and theory instructors, and campus director (who by the way loves terminate students two months from graduation.), its definitely not worth your time, your money, and energy. This school is money hungry and operated on a family business not only that but they have young incompetent employees who do not have a clue on how to deal with people, little do they know where ever they sit you are paying for it, they give you no respect or integrity because once you do something wrong in a minor aspect the whole school finds out. The LVN program is absolutely not worth $30,000 and let alone their RN program that is $75,000 without financial aid. Its a joke because some of their LVN instructors are going back to college to finish their classes in nursing that way they can teach in the RN program with hardly any experience. If i could give 0 stars i would, i have had nothing but problems with this school since starting the have no care and concern for most students and the dean of education has told me flat out that all they care about is the schools passing rate. they allow you to continue to the next level even if you didn't pass so they get the money for that level and then drop you which as happened to me, then they say if you come back in 180 days or so but they push your re-entry date back multiple times so you don't make that 180 day mark, when that happens you have to pay for the level out of pocket. I have seen so many teachers come and go which is alarming for me being a student, A few teachers are very nice and helpful and others i sometimes wonder how they even have a job our current teacher has taught us maybe a handful of times the rest of the time we don't see her for theory. the equipment is outdated and we are told that we don't have the money for new equipment which for me is kinds BS seeing as most students have to pay 30k to attend. the theory class consists mostly from slides shows with text from the book they give you or typed from someone back in 2010. clinical is probably the only thing this school has going for it. The teachers lose your work, i have had one teacher shred my mid-term after i repeatedly asked to see it so i can see why i scored so low she then waited and later shredded the test and scantron so i could not look at it then she "lost" one of my finals and i was told i didn't pass that level that i received a 74% for the level and had to repeat i fought it with the school and was told the school doesn't have a policy preventing teachers from shredding any test scantrons or students homework. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TALK TO THE STUDENTS RATHER THAN ADMISSIONS BECAUSE MOST OF THE STUDENTS WHO AREN'T BRAINWASHED WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH!!!!!! read more
