A double root canal with no anesthetic is preferable to an Emergency Room visit! If you don't know the deal let me fill you in. Unless you have chest pains you'll wait in line just shy of forever. You know you're in trouble when you are eating your second or third meal of hospital cafeteria food and you are not even a patient yet! It can be that bad. These guys fill a serious need. If your "emergency" is relatively minor this is the place to go. Stiches, burns, simple fractures and other non-life threatening stuff are better addressed here. Ditto with drug tests and flu shots. Since our lovely Christmas Eve visit, we've had the Queen Mother grace the place with her presence and be treated royally (special shout out to Nurse John "The Baptist" for exceptionally good humor and patience with the QM) and have had the Young 'Un there as well. They've recently added a texting function where they tell you once you check in via text message what place you are in line and, when you're close to being first, to be sure to head back to/be close to the location as you'll be called soon. This is nice but they don't give you the option to opt-out - they just ask for your cell phone number and put you in. That kinda bothers me only because I don't know where else the # is going or will be used, yanno? read more

Brought my daughter in for a walk-in appointment in the evening when her regular doctor was closed. Was seen within 15 minutes or so. Facility is brand new and it shows; everything is spotless. Got my daughter diagnosed and a prescription called in with no fuss; quick and easy. Staff were all very warm and friendly, unlike other doctors offices I've been to where they act like they're doing you a favor talking to you. As they were not yet set up to take my insurance (Aetna; they will be accepting it within a few more weeks I was told), I was billed the "no insurance" rate of $130, which is more than an insurance company would pay them, but far less than the "retail" price that you'd get stuck with if a doc tried to bill you the same rate they bill an insurance company. Overall, they provided me just what I needed, and I would not hesitate to return, or to recommend them to others. read more

Called in the early evening to ask what the copay was for a particular insurance plan. The receptionist refused to give any information over the phone, only to say that it could be anywhere between $10 and $100. This is a pretty big range. My wife was feeling pretty bad, so drove over to get a quote -- $70. She decided to wait to see the primary care doctor the next day, where the copay is $20. Why is it so hard to give insurance information over the phone? And why, in a situation where one is feeling unwell, is it impossible to simply answer the phone rather than make a potential patient go through several touch-tone prompts? Came here for employment purposes, had to get a drug test to start my new job. The staff was professional and it was neat and clean. Shawna who did my drug test was very friendly and professional. It was very hot out like 100 degrees and the air conditioning was perfect. The wait time was not that bad. I waited for about 40 minutes, but that's not bad for urgent care services. What I like most was there was tv available in the wait room and it had my favorite channel on, which was the Food Network I was watching cupcake wars! Fast efficient friendly service treating a large cut. Stitches were required and I was in and out in less than an hour. It would have taken an ER twice that time just to take my information. Because the website said Covid tests require an appointment (totally understood), I gave the clinic a call. I have left 3 phone messages (on different days) asking if my symptoms warrant a Covid test prior to returning to work. I am going on day 4 and still have not heard back. I voluntarily stayed home from work today and will do so tomorrow (with no pay), but think a simple call back might ease my mind. I understand the world is a crazier, busier place at the moment, but spending 9 seconds to tell me to come in for a test or 9 second to tell me.. "Our advice is to take Tylenol and push fluids" shouldn't be something out of the normal scope of your workday. :-( read more

Two of their employees left to go buy groceries and when they came back we finally got called in. All we needed to do was pee in a cup! They even skipped me, twice! Never going back. read more

went here after I stepped on an old, rusty nail to get a tetanus shot. Was seen by a "medical professional", and her young trainee. They asked me to explain what happened, which I did, and then proceeded to tell me that they could not administer a tetanus shot on site, having something to do with my insurance. I asked if I could pay for the shot 100% out of pocket, and they still said they wouldn't be able to give me the shot, even though they had them in stock and were able to give them at this site. She then poured some water on my foot, placed a band-aid over the puncture wound, and gave me an incorrect prescription. Due to the pain I was in, I went to the ER. They were shocked when I told them an Urgent Care facility wouldn't give me a tetanus shot, and even more surprised when I told them the prescription I got, as they stated it was wrong, and to throw it out. I was wearing rubber soled shoes, and should have been given a different prescription to offset any infection that could have come as a result of any rubber particles penetrating the wound. I then was informed they charged me $200 for this little 'visit', and when I called their billing department, I was informed that a supervisor would call me back. Fast forward to three weeks later, still no call. So I called again, and the same woman, who was as nice as could be, put me on hold, and came back and said her supervisor, Eric, said I was treated appropriately, and no refund would be given. I asked to speak with him, to no avail. I asked for his last name and direct number, but was told they were unable to provide me that information. She said that she would leave a message for him to call me to discuss, even though I am sure he was right there with her, listening to our conversation. Avoid these 'Urgent Care' facilities at all cost, as they clearly do not know how to treat 'patients', and will charge you regardless. Spend the extra $$$ and just go to the ER to be treated by a professional. These pop-up treatment facilities could be a great benefit and cut back on unwarranted trips to the ER, but most are not qualified to treat anyone correctly. read more

I visited CareSTAT needing an injured thumb to be seen before a weekend holiday. They accepted my insurance, and although the copay was a bit higher than I expected, it was still reasonable. I was seen promptly, and the whole procedure was pretty much what one would expect at a normal doctor's office (ie.. took my vital signs, weight, etc.). The exam rooms given to patients are not soundproofed, and the traffic on West Chester Pike is very audible and at times distracting. The doctor was polite, able to diagnose my problem and called in a prescription to my pharmacy. Overall, I was satisfied with the quality of care I received and would go back in the future if I needed to. read more

This place was conveniently located for me. When I was here recently, I spent quite a while in the waiting room. I understand you'll have to wait in the evening because it's a popular time. The problem was that at any given moment there was at least 2 or 3 of the 6 workers there were goofing off. They would be eating, drinking, gabbing on the phone or texting. It's very frustrating to be left waiting for so long and to see employees not even try to hide that they were not working. I was visiting my parents from VA and literally won't ever go to a doctor unless I'm dying. My ear was killing me for days and I decided to walk in out of frustration to see if I could get in quick and get something to fix it. I got in right away, staff was SO friendly and nice (especially for working the day before a holiday), found out I actually had strep, got my script and was out of there within an hour or less. Dr. Reilly was really nice and seemed knowledgable. If it weren't for him I would give 1 star. However, the experience/ service was anything but urgent/ express. I was there for nearly 3 hours for a sprain (quick exam by doc, X-ray, and discharge). It was ridiculous how long it took and how unconcerned the employees seemed about how long I had been there. At the end I was given paperwork that listed a different diagnosis than my doctor had given verbally, I was given a pregnancy test waiver to sign AFTER I had already been xrayed, and I had to wait an additional 30 min after being discharged for a copy of my X-rays only to learn upon receiving them that they "didn't realize I was waiting for them," when I had asked twice how much longer it would take. read more

My visit was in March 2013. Just getting to this now, about 2 months later. And the results are in... I had a very good result here for the reasons I list below and would return again. In fact, I would like to make them my family doctor - - do they do that? The doctor at Carestat provided me a very accurate diagnosis with almost no waiting and testing that was the same diagnosis that I finally received 6 weeks later after waiting nearly a month for an appointment with a board certified Neurologist, and that was after the neurologist sent me for a very expensive MRI and then had me suffer under a unique medical torture test called an EMG - - all of which then proved totally unnecessary as Stu, the doctor on call at Carestat, had already provided me the same exact diagnosis in 10 minutes six weeks earlier, with no waiting or any expensive (or painful) procedures. Duh. I thought that their prices and billing were fairly reasonable. I noticed another reviewer complaining about billing, but I was charged no more than any other doctor charges me, and many doctors do charge a lot. If you not used to seeing doctor bills, then any price may seem expensive, but I was treated fairly. (and if you really want to see expensive, just visit your local specialist and get an MRI !) Someone there did explain to me that there was a minimum charge just to be seen, but I think due to my high deductible insurance plan, so I wouldn't run there for every runny nose. I would recommend calling them in advance to review the minimum charges before showing up at their door (while you are at it, get an online reservation number.) However, when you need to see a doctor stat - - this is the way to go. Also, speaking about extra billing, Carestat will run any (reasonable) medical test that you request, for an extra charge of course, if they think the test makes medical sense, which is exactly what I asked them to do to rule out some other concerns that I had. I was willing to pay extra for those extra tests for my peace of mind and my children's sake as we were leaving for vacation 2 days later (i.e. why mess around?) Those extra tests were not any more expensive, and maybe even less expensive, than similar type tests done for my son at a medical testing center in Lawrence Park (Broomall) earlier in the year. To this day, I am glad I had those extra tests done. Enough about that. The doctor and nurse practitioner (at Carestat) spent about 5x more time with me than does my own family doctor on any average visit, which brings me to an important point. Why have a family doc when you can go here? I guess one needs a place to keep their medical records - - specialist always ask me who to send them to. Well, my family doc may have all my records, but do they ever look at them? In the future, if my family doctor can't see me the same day, I will come here, for sure. Also, this place knows how to take blood like nobody's business - - which is quite possibly the other reason I had such a positive experience. Of course, I right away asked about their technique and all, and of course it turns out one of their nurses taught phlembotomy. That would explain it. Lastly, the funny thing at Carestat, which is kind of ironic, is that you can get a reservation number online, but they don't treat you like a number when you get there. Meanwhile, at my family doctor, you cannot get a same day appointment, but when you do get in, then you are treated like a number. Does that make any sense? Just sayin'. read more

Idk why but I always pay attention to how the receptionist is, its like an important first impression to me I guess. I thought she was kinda rude and impatient on the phone, gesturing to outside patients that were waiting to "hurry up" towards the person on phone. Not professional in my opinion. This place is a fraudulent billing machine. They will double bill or over-bill your insurance company well after the fact despite you paying the copay when you first arrive. They will then put the onus on you to call your provider despite the fact they send in a billing code that doesn't match the treatment. You then will get credit agencies badgering you to pay up. His injury required a specialist and the physician on staff made a quick referral and got us in with the hand doctor right away. Really impressed with the level of service I received here. Was here two times in two-weeks (not their fault - mine for getting sick twice!). Was seen quickly, the Nurse Practitioner demonstrated a high level of knowledge, the Doctor was visible and checking everything that was going on - even the woman at the front desk was a delight. Also - they are full service - had a strep test and mono test, and received the results in five minutes. After my first visit, they called to check on how I was doing - my PCP doesn't do that! I would give zero if I could. I went to Care Stat on Friday, Dec 4th at 10 AM with a possible Sinus or Strep infection. The Dr told me to start the Augementin in 3 days because she didn't know whether it was virual or bacterial. But took antibiotic that day, once in the morning and then once at night. Started vomiting that night. Long story short. Feeling naustious every day since. I didn't know whether to not take it so i called office today, Dec 7th at 9 AM and left message for Doctor to call me, then called again at 10:30. They said they were "jammed" with patients and someone would get back to me. Well guess what, i just called now and they said they had no message to call me. I'm done. This only gets one star because I can't rate it with a 0 out of 5 I injured my back at work and went here because it is the workers comp doctor. The first time I went the doctor was quite rude to me, said nothing was wrong just some pain and that its very common. Went back 5 days later when the pain had intensified and moved up my back. I had a different doctor who was very nice and she wrote a prescription for physical therapy and gave me a back brace. I went to the physical therapist and found out my spine, hips, and pelvis were all out of alignment. I had to go back to this place today and I had the worst experience in my entire life. I was verbally abused by the "Physician", and taken advantage of. I am recently 18 and this morning I was in pain and without my knowing my mom called and they said to come in. When I was sitting on the examining table and she told me "my mom has to stop taking care of me and I'm 18 and should take care of myself to which I responded by saying I had no knowledge my mom had called this morning and she had no right to assume. Another issue I had was that when she asked how many times I had gone to physical therapy, I said 3 and she said well you should have been to 6 of them, I said well when the appointments were setup the therapist I was given is only there 2 days and the person who set the appointment up said I had to go to the same person to which this "physician" said well thats not true and I said One of your employees setup my appointment with someone who has only been available 3 days. She also told me the back brace that I was given for my upper back should be used on my lower back, although I only feel pain when it sits there versus where a week prior I was told by a separate doctor to wear it. In the end I said to the doctor that i had come today to be seen for my back and to get it better I didnt expect to be attacked to which she replied " Thats what everyone says." I was so fed up at this point that i responded to every other question with yes, yep, mhm, etc until I was abe to leave. I was degraded, and talked down to, treated like I was nothing when all I want is to get quality care from a DOCTOR who cares about how other people feel. If you are a doctor or physician and all you do is make people feel horrible, get another job. Overall disgusted with this place and I hope to never have to set foot in there again. read more

I went to CareSTAT while visiting family in PA. The worse experience with this type of medical facility. The receptionist could not provide directions to the facility. The nurse that took my vitals had to take my blood pressure three times before she said "I'll check it again" which she never did. The doctor on staff smelled of alcohol, appearance and attire were not professional. I should have walked out. Doctor stated I had sinusitis and there was nothing he could really do but wait it out. I returned home and went to my own physician who diagnosed a full blown sinus infection. If I could give zero stars on this review....that is what I would give. So I took my 7 year old to CareSTAT as I had just been there a month early for Shingles Vaccine shot. My experience then was very good but the way they handled my son was spectacular. I went here when I was feeling sick with an earache. Since I couldn't get to my doctors in time before they closed, I decided to go to CareSTAT. I waited 30 min but that was short for what I was expecting. The Physicians Assistant was very kind to me and explained everything. She apologized for the wait (she didn't have to) and explained she was the only Physician Assistant on staff. I was out of there in an hour. I have been there a number of times for myself and with my children. It was sold in February and just seems to have gone downhill. The girl told me I had a high deductible and had to pay $100. It seems like children and dogs always have things happen on holiday weekends, but this time it was me, a full-fledged grownup with an orthopedic injury on Memorial Day. I found CareStat using Google, called to make sure they were really open, and went down. Everyone was very professional and extremely nice, too. I was seen within 15 mins, got an xray and a diagnosis, and was out in under 2 hours. They are in-network with my insurance (IBC) and will bill them directly. Much better than going to the Emergency Dept and they treated me like a real person, not like I was an inconvenience to them. I would recommend this place if you need this type of service. read more

This is what medicine is supposed to be. My daughter broke two bones. Each time, she got quick, compassionate, effective treatment -- x-ray and splint. She had to go to hospital for cast, but that was foregone conclusion. What we avoided was the multi-hour ER nightmare - with additional cost to everyone. She was quickly cared for, then we scheduled with orthopedics at the hospital later that day, walked in with the Carestat images, and walked out 30 minutes later with the cast. 6 and 7 years ago we dealt with broken bones through the ER. It was night and day. This way was so much easier on our daughter and on the family. This model of medicine needs to be embraced nationally, and Carestat in Havertown couldn't have been better.
