Ah, man. I feel really torn about this one. I am a bargain hunter. I am the type who will (admittedly) buy something just because it's on sale and I assume I may need it in the future. I love overtstocked-type of stores... TJ Maxx, thrift stores, Big Lots, even flea markets. And having heard a lot about Cargo Largo, I went pretty psyched to check it on in the hopes of finding some great, irresistible deals. I am sure there were some deals in that place, aside from the violated packaging, exposed flooring and walls, lack of organization, and well, just a sad, sad feeling about the place. At least a thrift store has stuff that was at one time loved. This place is more of a collection of random bits, leftovers, and out-of-decade products that hardly look packaged or presentable. I didn't know if I was in a flea market, a garage sale, a thrift store, or a mark-down warehouse. Sure, there were some seasonal decor at the entrance. Lots of non-perishable foods and kitchenware that would usually be a deal at a Dollar Store. Random sinks and cabinets. Some good looking furniture in the back. A bunch of baby stuff. Some craft items (some!). Random DVD's in the back next to their "Book Nook." Some things were priced at a hit-and-run deal; others were a bit steep for what you were getting. I left with only a phone cover - marked at $5 whereas I had just bought one (in a not-so-fun color) at the AT&T store for $25 a few weeks earlier. I guess the cover alone was worth it. I might need to give the place another try when I have more time and patience on my hands. And some hand sanitizer and a pocketful of mace for the parking lot. read more

I love Cargo Largo. Only here can you stand at the edge of the parking lot and watch a guy who just robbed a bank get tackled by the cops and get dragged away in handcuffs. Okay so your experiences in their parking lot may vary. Maybe that's not a typical Cargo Largo experience. Still, it's worth a look-see anyway. It's very much a warehouse feeling with tons of surplus stuff that probably came from the railroad tracks right beneath. It's a little disheveled but not so disheveled that it feels dirty or that you really feel like you have to dig through everything. They've got everything from house fix-it stuff to some office supplies to personal toiletries to household items to clothing to pretty awesome furniture that's heavily discounted (though you have to really look at it to make sure of it's condition). If you're in the area or if you're an overzealous bargain hunter, this place is worth checking out. read more

I live close by so I come here all the time. The items are always different and it's best to go when there's a sale on the things you want. The fun is also in finding a bargain or that rare item you didn't know you needed. The parking always seems full but there are good times to go. Mornings mostly during the week, If you want to avoid a crowd. But it's busy during the best sales which is when I go. Sometimes the checkout lines can be long if they don't have enough cashiers but that's fine it depends on who you are behind. Don't judge this place based on one visit go a few times every once in a while and see what's different, some stuff may not seem like a bargain but check back again when it's 20-30% off. read more

Cargo Largo is an experience in itself. I like to think of it as TJ Maxx + Big Lots + Red X combined and on steroids. It's really awesome deals, especially when they have additional sales (which is often). You have to be willing to search and dig for what you're looking for. This is rarely a quick trip - give yourself time and you will find awesome deals. I've bought everything from Kate Spade accessories to car oil to organic snacks. If you prefer shopping at department stores where everything is neat, organized and let's be honest on the cleaner side, this is not the store for you. But if you are a bargain hunter that has spent time in Goodwill, Salvation Army, and thrift shops galore, this IS the store for you. Cargo Largo is for the shopper that is willing to take 20 minutes to walk down one aisle and maybe not find a thing, but you might find that one item you've been searching for. Some stuff you may have to dig for, some stuff may be well shelved. It all depends on the day and how busy the store is. And don't be surprised if the box is dented or tore. This is not a box store, these items didnt come straight from the factory. They have led a less than perfect life. But the items are still the same items. If you question something stop an employee and ask about the item. They might let you carefully open the box to double check the item. Don't just open boxes though, that's rude and you wouldn't do it at a box store. Personally , I went back to the book section and filled my cart. I have 3 lucky little girls that love to read and I found readers as low as $1. Then they announced a 30% discount on books; even better. Hubby found some much sought after tools cheaper than we've seen anywhere before. Not to mention we are big fans of Tide laundry detergent and bought a few bottles for 45% less than at the box stores. The surprise sales at Cargo Largo remind me of the old Kmart blue light sales. Yes, they want to keep you in the store so it's random, but if you are willing to get some steps in it can be worth the extra time. Also, wear good walking shoes. It is concrete flooring and will make your back smart if you are there for long periods of time. Overall we had a great experience at Cargo Largo. The employees were friendly and helpful. It was a fun bargain hunting adventure and we look forward to trekking back for another, longer hunt. read more

This place is a rip off. Most items are at or just under retail and if you time sales you can likely find new items for equal or better prices elsewhere. I have seen some deals at times on clothes and other items, but over all I think the persona of unclaimed/insurance freight discounts was something in the past. Just a greedy business model now days and a waste of time in my opinion. Better off going to the amazon 5 dollar unclaimed insurance freight stores located in a few spots around town. read more

This place USED to have good deals. For the past year everything I've found here can be found for less locally and online. Even if they match a local BM store, big deal. This is all salvage and unclaimed freight. They are an authorized retailer of nothing, meaning you have no manufacturers warranty on anything they sell. read more

Please make sure you check your bag for all your items before you leave the store. A pack of cards was left out of our bag. We noticed this an hour after we left the store. We immediately called and they told us that the cards may have been placed in a return basket and to come back in and get our money back or a replacement deck of cards. When we went back in management said they reviewed the tape and that they were in the bag (they would not let us see the tape). They would not refund nor replace the cards. They were only 2.99, but it's the principal. If they treat you like this over 2.99, imagine what they will do for higher priced items. read more

Sat next to the owner of this place in his $1000 a ticket seats at Rolling Stone's concert at Arrowhead the other night. Now, don't get me wrong... I, too, had pricey seats, but-- then again, I don't make a living by tricking those who are already marginalized and living on the fringes of society into thinking they are getting a deal/bargain by buying from me when in fact they are being soooo ripped off. So, out of curiosity, we just had to stop in this place... and see how he made a living (since it's close by Arrowhead stadium anyway). I was floored! Soooo much worse than I even imagined or had heard it to be. I'd heard it was bad, but not THIS bad. There are no "bargains" whatsoever to be found here, at all-- just pure junk. Utter crap! It was so sad to see all these folks on such limited incomes pushing their carts around thinking these were good prices for damaged and just narsty, narsty 'leftovers'. Everything in this place needed to be donated--or simply burned (not sold to the poor/disadvantaged). The place was filthy, too. Makes Big Lots look like a Nordstrom's. I purchased a large 700 lb. safe from Cargo Largo on March 14, 2014. I was out of town when delivered on April 3, 2014; it was held by a local Safe Co. until I arrived home two weeks ago. Upon delivery, I attempted to open safe; the safe will not open. Key Largo refused to provide any help or support as they claim I was about 20 days late in contacting them. Also, I was told their technical support people do not have office phones; the only way their TS people can return a phone call is by the assigned TS person using his/her own cell phone. I now have a 700 lb. paper weight in which I must hire a professional safe technician to open at my own expense. Thank you Cargo Largo for your unprofessional and poor sales and service team. An update on my experience with Cargo Largo. I was given the phone number of Mark Dykeman at (816) 350-6240, the person in charge of large items. I called him on 6-16-14 and again on 6-17-14...no answer and no return phone call. Cargo Largo is the worst company with whom I have dealt. I am a retired CPA and former litigator and I will be filing a suit for the return and refund of the safe. Under UCC-1, if an item is received not functioning (in legal terms, not merchantable), the buyer has the right of return or repair, at the buyers option. I hope this info helps anyone who has a poor experience with Cargo Largo or any other seller having no business morals or scruples. read more

Definitely a place to visit if you are in Independence. Quirky store with a little bit of everything. And if you don't need it, it is on the shelf! I walked out with $10 worth of nothing (brush, hair gel, gum, cooking spray, and T-shirt). Did I need it? NO. But, did I want it? YES! Electronics isn't their strong items, but stuff is. To be clear, I love this store, but the item pricing is getting more and more outrageous and it's beginning to feel less and less like bargain shopping. Last year I would buy Vera Bradley umbrellas for $8 regularly and now they're all priced at least $20. I also find myself having to look up and compare retail prices literally anywhere else to Cargo Largo's prices to make sure I'm even getting a deal. Recently I found a board game priced at $35 in store and the same game was $19 on Amazon. Yarn that you can find at Hobby Lobby for $3 listed for $6. Many small things are no more than a $1-2 save, which almost isn't worth it considering that many of these items have clearly been through some tough times just based on the rough packaging conditions. You used to be able to walk in and know that you'd get a good deal on almost everything and that's not the case anymore which is really disappointing. read more

I've never been to Cargo Largo's retail store but have purchased from them on eBay a few times. NEVER AGAIN! I would urge great caution if you are considering buying any of their junk. First, they describe items as "new" or "open box" but they turn out to be used and beat up. Second, they dramatically overcharge for shipping so that they can pocket the excess and not pay eBay their percentage. Third, they are unresponsive to complaints and don't care if customers walk away satisfied or, more likely, completely pissed off. I'm obviously in the latter category. Cargo Largo gets their inventory super cheap so there's no reason to do any of that other than plain old GREED! In addition, Cargo Largo has a record for being a polluter-- they paid a $100,000 fine for improperly disposing of hazardous waste a few years back. Don't take my word for it though-- check out other peoples' reviews, eBay feedbacks and EPA.gov. You're really better off shopping someplace else, maybe Goodwill if you like "the hunt." At least at Goodwill you'll know that the goods are likely used. Caveat emptor! read more

i.love.independance. it's super cheap. and cargo largo is no exception. i haven't been here since i was younger and we'd use to call it "the defect store." but this place has a handful of designer clothes... but an exceptional amount of cheap cheap stuff. there's a lot to ruffle through to find some great deals, but if there's specific stuff you're looking for, more than likely you'll find it. i was looking for a bunch of cheap kitchen stuff and they have so much. my mom and i ended up there for hours... but the computer system went and it took an eternity to get through the line. but what i can't complain when i bought stuff at a fraction of the price. knives for $1, thermometers for $1, cups for $.50, etc., etc. read more

Cargo Largo is so crooked that it even has its own article at Ripoff Report called "Cargo Largo Sells Used Junk but Pretends It is New!". Don't be fooled by the good reviews. Cargo Largo's physical store and online departments sell damaged, outdated, heavily used junk (in my experience.) They don't tell you that because they want you to believe that everything that they sell is brand new. After you actually open the box at home, you realize that you have been duped - but it is too late to get a refund. Avoid the tremendous aggravation and frustration of dealing with these liars by shopping elsewhere - ANYWHERE else is more honest than Cargo Largo - even the back of a beat up van that sells counterfeit Versace bags. read more

Be very careful when purchasing items from Carglargo. Purchased a Taylormade Golf club online from e-bay through Cargolargo. Found out club to be defective--when I called Taylormade company veryfing club with serial number, they said the club was counterfeit and fake. What a fun outing i you like to find bargains. Great name brand stuff at great prices. I have found Pottery Barn and West Elm rugs for amazing deals and super great deals on kids high quality name brand clothes such as Patagonia, Mini Boden, Janie and Jack, Crew Cuts, and more. We have been going to cargo largo since it was called RSO in Westport. It was years before my then small children, found out things came in a box! I have gotten excellent bargains and a few duds along the way. You do have to know what the "regular" price is to know if it's a deal. Most things there are but not all. We love it so much, we go there for "date night". It's entertainment, part scavenger hunt and savings all rolled into one! We own very little that doesn't have a cargo largo sticker on it! Staff comes and goes over the years but Margie we love you!!! It's most definitely worth a trip!! Always changing stock so don't come back next week to get what you saw this week! My wife and I go here once in a while. At times we have found really good country gravy mixes (powdered), family size, for .75 cents, and sesame oil in one pint cans for 2.00. That's cheap, and very good quality. The best was a leather coat for my wife which had been marked down several times. We assumed it was a knock-off, as probably many others did that didn't buy it. But, it fit and my wife liked the look of it. We got it home and I did some research online. The manufacturer gave tips on knowing whether we got a knock-off, and it passed all the tests. We got us a $280.00 leather coat for $20.00. I'll definitely go here again, even though it is run down and dirty. read more

What's not to love about Cargo Largo! Sure it's a little dirty but looks can be deceiving. I've gotten multiple pairs of Lucky brand jeans there that retail for $100+ for $39.95. They have almost everything I'm looking for. Their blu rays range from $7-$15. Good variety of clothes for the whole family. Tons of hygiene stuff. Tons of baby stuff. AND IT'S ALL MAJORLY DISCOUNTED. Love that place and you will too if you have the time to look around. read more

CARGO LARGO IS THE WORST COMPANY ON EARTH! Ignore the rave reviews, which may have been written by employees or the owners. Cargo Largo fraudulently represents that their used, damaged junk is new and intact. This scam applies to both their physical store and Internet operations. After discovering Cargo Largo's fraud, you have to waste hours navigating through their website just to figure out how to get an "RA" number to return something, packing it for return, and waiting in line at the post office or UPS Store. Incredibly, Cargo Largo will not even credit your credit card. You must dispute the charge with your credit card company just to get a refund. Of course, that includes going to the trouble of copying the postage receipts and filling out a complicated form. I have tried Cargo Largo three times, the first two times thinking that they just made honest mistakes. However, it is obvious that Cargo Largo employees are criminals who trick people out of their hard-earned money. Cargo Largo even makes you pay shipping and handling both ways when you return their misrepresented junk. You would be far better off getting merchandise from a trash dump. It will be of equal quality and at least you will not have to pay retail prices for it. This review is based on my experiences as well as those of many Internet reviewers. read more

this store used to be an office bulding for a farm implement company that makes combines before they cldependencee in inosed it down in the mid eightys then it became the bargan hunters place in 1990 and i made a lot of great purchases there and i never had a problem with there merchandise because the merchandise is from reclaimed damaged freight busniess all over the country like walmart target macys dillards and so on even the major hardware store chains like lowes and home depot and true value and do it best and ace stores overstocks and the grocery and cleaning products come from retail grocery stores and instutional business companys like rehinard food service and us foods and wearhouse stores like sams club and costco so do not diss the messy bulding because the building is out dated and they took that building and repuporsted it into cargolargo that you see today here in independence missouri and the area is old and outdated but the area is being revitalized but most of the area is indrustral because up the street is a factory that makes products for unileaver corp from food to beauty products and most of the area is residental and comercial areas and not far from the mircial mile of auto dealers here in independence missouri area so please do not diss my home town or its busniess and i am sorry for my grammer i make mistakes just like you so please consider visiting independence missouri for you vacation or business trip you'll like it read more
