They did what would be called an illegal install in Clermont County BY NOT pulling a permit to…read morereplace the water heater, now 4 months later they still have not pulled a permit, and keep running in circles around the subject, but only "WHEN THEY ACTUALLY ANSWER" the calls from me (literally returned a call one time out of the more than 10 times I called after) and my warranty company (also more than 10 times). ALSO, apparently ONLY the company who does the water heater install can purchase the permit, so no other plumber can do it, and they are unresponsive now to the warranty company for the permit and the repair. They have lots of excuses, but no actions. They are going to get the permit, a month goes by, now someone is in the hospital another month goes by apologies...etc... etc... IF YOU LIVE IN CLERMONT COUNTY DO NOT use them. The permit central said they are not even registered in the county to do work, so they can't pull permits to do the plumbing. ALL THIS after I paid an additional $1000 for things not covered like the permit I didn't get, a new expansion tank, modified copper pipes and a drain pan. Had a plumber look at the work and notice things I did not and said that even if they had pulled a permit, it would not pass inspection, so either way I'd be in this boat. They put the drain pan in, left the spout zip tied to it and left my drainpipe that was already there, that leads outside detached and open to the outside. Because the relief valve discharge pipe is not directly connected to the drain pan and drain, it will NOT PASS INSPECTION!!! NOT TO MENTION if it leaks or needs to be drained, I am apparently out of luck, and it is going to go all over the house. FYI...The International Residential Code, which forms the basis of building codes in most U.S. jurisdictions, requires anyone who installs, replaces, or alters a plumbing, gas, or mechanical system to obtain a permit before starting work. Water heater replacement is not on the code's list of permit-exempt projects.

The Roto Rooter Plumbers have always been professional and arrived on time. However, about a year…read moreago we had them install two water valves in our upstairs bathroom sink, right after they were installed I started hearing drips of water in our upstairs bedroom, so I called them back a month later. They said there was no leak because they didn't see water. Also, they broke the plastic handle to the main water shut off in the house. I realize things happen. I just worry about the structural integrity to my upstairs bedrooms and bathroom as well as being unable to shut off the water at the water main inside my house. Joe G at Featherston in Miamisburg. Thanks in advance for reading.

On the third visit, they gave me a proposal for $8800 to "fix a bellied pipe" in my basement floor. They said this was necessary to fix the problem. They then requested an additional $606 for me to view the video they supposedly took at the previous visit to unclog the pipe and show the bellied pipe. I had a licensed plumber give me a second opinion which included a live onsite camera video of all my pipes, and I watched while it was being done. It turned out that the "belied pipe" was nonexistent. The plumber stated that Roto Rooter had broken the flap on my backflow prevention unit but had not disclosed this to me. I will NEVER use Roto Rooter again. Be warned.

Look at all the other 1 star reviews for similar predatory prices…read more I have a simple shower valve replacement, the wall is already cut open in the room behind the shower. It's a matter of using wrenches to remove the old valve (4 pipes attached) and using wrenches and plumbers tape to put the new one on. Simple, but still not something I am confident enough to do myself (yet). Nixco sends a tech out, and quotes me over $1200. Let that sink in... $1200. No cutting, no drywall, should take maybe 30 minutes tops, unless some 'problem' is discovered. $1200 I think the tech knew as well, because as soon as I saw that, I chuckled and asked "What's involved in getting to that price?". He looked at the floor and quietly said "well, uh, that's just what the labor involved, uh..." I said, you can stop there, no thanks. I called Nixco just to half complain but also half give them a chance, like are you standing behind this quote? To which they gave me the typical "we'll pass it on to the service manager". I'm not using them again. I ran in to this kind of set up with Apollo. The quotes seem absurdly high, but also the tactics seem like that of old school used car salesmanship. He looks at the project, goes to his van for like 10 minutes, then comes back. He's likely calling in to someone that's guiding him on the price, and they are seeing what they can get away with. Or, and I'm just speculating here, the techs are getting some kind of commission on the overall price. There doesn't seem to be any drive to get the job done quick and efficient. I'm just scared for people that don't know any better that fall for this. I used Nixco on one other project, where the tech had to cut in to the wall, saw pipes, weld new pipes, and attach valves. So much more involved than this, and that job was under $900. he rationalized it to me that having to cut in to the drywall, cut/weld pipes, is more labor intensive and more complex, so I went with that. Compare to this job, which involves none of that, and it's $1200?! Don't use this company. ----- UPDATED ------ So, i'm responding to the response I got with the cost breakdown, and follow up from another local Cincinnati service below. "licensed and trained technicians": sure, goes in to the hourly rate, right? That's $400 per hour, correct? "quality materials designed for long-term reliability": what materials? Maybe a foot of copper and some solder? "proper installation methods (not temporary or shortcut fittings)": you charge extra for install things properly? what's a temporary install? duct tape? "warranty coverage": warranty on what? I bought the valve at another store, you're just installing it. if it's defective, that's not under your warranty is it? "insurance": sure, cost of doing business, but am i paying the whole monthly premium for this one job? "and the accountability of standing behind our work": Customers have to pay extra for this? How about, do a good job, and make people happy. If you made a mistake that requires follow up, do that, at no cost. Don't heavily pad the bill in case you make a mistake and have to fix it. FOLLOW UP on the project: I found Russell Plumbing Inc. (513-561-2804), and they were great. It wasn't an emergency, but they said it's a relatively small job, and could squeeze me in early. Came out about 830am the next day, done by around 1030am. $275. Nice people, didn't disappear in their truck for 20 minutes to work up a quote like a used-car salesman, got it installed, cleaned up, and moved on. Give them a call! I'll write them a great review as well.

if I could give this rating a 0 I would…read more We had a power vented water heater, still under warranty, that was beginning to fail and called the company that installed it for an inspection. Two technicians came out and after some diagnostics, determined the heater was in trouble and agreed it needed replaced. They excused themselves to work on an installation only quote and to obtain the warranty replacement information from the manufacturer. When they came back inside, they gave me the warranty info and the quote for installation. This is where it went sideways fast. They told me the installation price was $1900. I literally started laughing and told them they were out of their mind and I wasn't paying that amount. I told them to have someone call me the next morning to discuss and they said a supervisor would call first thing. The next day......no phone call. The second day......stilll no phone call and I had to call them late in that day asking for a call the third day between 8:00-9:30. The third day a supervisor calls me at 11:30 when I am occupied with something else but I had to take the call. The supervisor tried everything under the sun to justify the quote and would not let me get a word in as he was constantly talking and very rude. I asked him to just deliver the heater to me and I would get someone else to install. No dice. After a brief pause, he said and I quote, "Have a nice day sir" and hung up on me. Now I have worked in sales most of my professional life and have had my share of disgruntled customers but never have I treated someone the way he did me. I don't enjoy using this page for this purpose as I am the type to build folks up rather than be negative. But in this instance, it is warranted. The name of the original company that installed the heater was JMK Plumbing now called Spartan Plumbing.

Whatever you do please do not deal with this company. There was a lack of work ethic, integrity,…read moreand honesty throughout the entire process. And to make matters worse, I phoned in to the Better Business Bureau office and this is a company they recommended. In just a week they ended up sending out 13 different employees, with only a handful of them actually doing any work, and many of those coming in to finish or redo the work of the last team. The team manager (Nick) swore to me that he would work with me and my insurance company to get some of this reimbursed. However he completely ignorned my calls and refused to speak to me or answer my insurance adjusters messages. The price they quoted was exorbitant but I assumed the work would be stellar as they were recommended by the BBB. That was definitely not the case. The fixtures that they used were builder grade basic, not what they removed - and I will have to have those redone. After they left here for the final time I found out that the toilets were leaking and I had no water in my dishwasher. I called the company and they said they could come out here and charge me to fix what they left a mess. I hired a lawyer who was unable to get them to respond after a month. I then elevated it to the Ohio AG who also could not get them to respond in the next 5 weeks. I had the same response from the BBB so now everyone has closed my complaint and Spartan is able to continue ripping customers off. BEWARE.
