CAUTION!!! Avoid Boyd!! After servicing our fuel oil heater something wasn't right, terrible smell and very loud. We called the next day and we were told this is "normal" and that the construction we had going on was probably the issue. After a couple more days we called again and I asked to speak to John. The lady was pretty rude but eventually said she would leave him a message. We'll he never called back. We tolerated the issue until this year. I called another company and the tech showed me that the furnace was completely caked up with soot, the worst he's ever seen. After cleaning the entire furnace he replaced the fuel nozzle which was the wrong one!! So Johns error cost us an additional 240 gal of fuel ($850) plus the cost to repair ($1069). When I called him this week he never called back. When I finally got a hold of him the conversation was nothing but excuses and double talk. Never once asked what he could do or apologize for the mistake. read more

Hes getting ready to sell property and wants to be sure in good working order Assigned To: Jason Marshall Status: paid HEAT PUMP CLEAN & CHECK $90.00 Approved 020297 OIL BURNER NOZZLE $62.14 Approved 020301 NOZZLE LINE FILTER $83.65 Approved 081233 CONTACTOR * ADDITIONAL $55.92 Approved 079075 HONEYWELL THERMOSTAT $235.77 Subtotal $527.48 Tax $15.02 Total $542.50" And then after the first call, we needed to call again because it didn't work after handing over $542.50 And then the second invoice. "Call B4 Heat pump with oil back up. Furnace not coming on Assigned To: Jason Marshall Status: completed Diagnostic Fee $90.00 Approved 020333 IGNITION TRANSFORMER $199.66 Approved 020321 HONEYWELL PRIMARY CONTROL $391.41 Subtotal $681.07 $20 WEB SITE DISCOUNT -$20.00 Tax $29.83 Total $690.90" So they are into us for $1,233.40 at this time. They choose to spend $1,233.40 repairing a unit that is a 10 SEER unit that is 20 years old instead of replacing the unit. My uncle lives in TX and wanted the unit ready to sell. It still doesn't even work. After spending $1,233.40 they didn't even choose to insulate the refrigerant line in between the house and heat pump. I'm a Green Beret and I'm smart enough to know that line is supposed to be insulated, and you guys don't? For $1,588 I can purchase a 2.5 ton 13 SEER unit with multiple speed fan and could have it installed all day long for less than $1,000. And then when I call Boyd Heating and Air and ask them to come take a look and get it working (one year warranty they SAY they have), they tell me it's going to be a $90 service call and any parts and labor cost. So I decided to write this review and plan on plastering it on every street corner for a 20 mile radius around their business and everywhere else I can online. Look at some of the negative reviews they have and ask yourself if you would want to be left in the same situation some of these other reviewers are in. I am NOT one of those "unable to satisfy" customers. Mostly I do everything myself. But when my aunt and uncle in a time of weakness and heartache (due to their fathers passing) ask this business to make sure the heating and air is working correctly because they have more important things happening in their lives, it's sad that they eventually had to pass this task off to me. I bet this company saw $$$$ when they realized the guy calling was from TX. I bet they thought to themselves, how many times can we go service this 20 year old system and keep cashing in? I'm really excellent at what I do as well, and it's protecting people from dishonorable men and women that do not understand how to treat others the way they want to be treated. People appreciate good reviews which is why I showed the invoices (the best I could with copy and paste) and went into detail about the situation. My recommendation, if you must choose a new heating and air guy, I would look elsewhere. Then, today (July 10th) they email me (I emailed this write up to them in the hopes it would convince them to do the right thing) and their only question was, "where did you post this?" Unbelievable! Called Johnny one week for him to come out and give an estimate on new gas furnace and new heat pump. It was installed and running 3 days later. Great price and workmanship. He and all his employees care about their work. I would recommend him to my grandmother. read more

Do not use this company! You get what you pay for with them. First he qouted us for a bunch of work that didnt need to be done to install our central air. When the installers got out to our home they realized John himself hadnt taken the time to notice a crawl space access closet on the back side of our home that gave easy access to what they needed to do. John had said they would have to go thru our kitchen, our pantry and out the side of our home to put our outside ac unit there. Which due to "all that work" would cost us. When they got here they simply accessed the utility closet amd installed easily. They took a 45 minute lunch in the middle. They showed up over an hour late and didnt start till nearly an hour and a half late. When I inquured why the bill wasnt less due to less hours and labor for the job to be done I was met with a response that was nasty, rude and made no sense. John himself contacted me and said "thats not how we do things." Even if the job had taken us 10 additional hours Id not have charged you more so Im not going to charge you less either..which is obviously a lie due to the fact that when he gave me the qoute he said as long as we dont run into any issues or spend any extra time on it..it will be this much. The installers claimed they had to "take out a wall in my home to install" when in reality all they did was unscrew 2 screws from a panel to access my furnace and they also took off a peice of our door frame for better access which they didnt even put back up when they left. They left my doors wide open. I had to keep closing them behind them everytime they went in and out. One technician had to go buy bug spray bc he was allergic to bee's and there were some in our backyard which Jon told me figured into the cost and trouble of all of it. Making it "pretty much" even out the cost offset for the labor. Absolutely ridiculous. Then..it gets better. They disconnected my washing machine drain hose in that access closet and when I did 2 loads of laundry it flooded. Sending water into the center of my home causing flooding. We called John back he came out looked around took some pictures..told us our washing machine drain was not properly accessible didnt so much as apologize and said..looks like your doing what needs to be done to dry it up and left. No offer to help clean up, no reimbursement. No apology. When i called the company back they said they would have him call us and he refused to return our calls. I'm currently seeking an attorney against his company. Spend your money on a company who will be professionals and not make more problems for you. read more

So...our AC went out right when it is supposed to get really hot and humid. When we moved to our house, John Boyd replaced our old unit with a new unit. He was fantastic. I had to have emergency surgery and he got it all taken care of while I was at the hospital. Even told us to send a check when I was able. So, when this latest thing happened, I knew that I would not call anyone else. I called around 5 p.m. on Monday and received a call back in about 10 minutes. They scheduled an appointment for 8 am the very next morning. The worker (Jason) showed up a few minutes early. I explained what was happening and he did a quick evaluation. He knew what was wrong immediately and told me it was an easy fix. 5 - 10 minutes is the time frame he gave me. He finished the job quickly and even before he returned to our home with the paperwork, the temperature was down about 3 degrees. This service did not cost me an arm and a leg. It was extremely reasonable and they did not try to tack on any extras. Too bad more businesses aren't like John Boyd Heating and Cooling. Quality and Integrity. Decided job was too much work and didn't even bother doing an estimate. Very rude when I did finally get ahold of him. Would NOT recommend!
