The chicken hand pies were ridiculous! I didn't expect it...all good food but I was so surprised it was my favorite part. Almost like a thick chicken curry with slight spice in a warm flaky crust. Paired really well with the cold Red Stripe. The Brown and Jerk chicken was tender and well spiced; we selected plantains and a bread for our included side--both soaked up the delicious sauces great. Dishes were ~$15 each. I'm guessing they do a lot of to-gos but eat-in is an option. Walk in, order at counter, grab a table, meals come in containers, and you clear when you're done. Caribbean Delights is a small mom-and-shop-style restaurant that brings the tastes of Jamaica right to Omaha. I've never been to Jamaica, but a friend who is from there also confirmed its authenticity. We ordered the Jamaican jerk chicken, the curried chicken, and the fried plantains. Service was slow, but only because everything was made to order. I tried and failed, to capture the steam coming off the food. The chicken in both meals was so tender, it came right off the bone. The Jamaican jerk chicken was more on the spicy side while maintaining a great deal of flavor. The curried chicken is an excellent choice for anyone who doesn't care for spicy food but still wants all the flavors. Received shrimp when I paid for fish. I returned the plate and was questioned who got the fish. I asked if the order was correct, the owner told me they would refund my money. I explained I paid more than he wanted to refund me, he asked if I had a receipt. Should not matter if he charged me according to the menu... We were in town looking for something good. Based off the reviews we thought we'd give this place a try. Our experience was disappointing by far. The person working didn't greet us or even thank us for ordering. I'm not fact the only thing he said was "are you eating here?". Ok no big deal, but the food portion was small. I got 5 wings for almost $14. And my husband got jerk chicken. He said the flavor was there, but is convinced they used a frozen chicken breast and cut that in half. Came for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the food. The first thing you see when you walk in is a fairly large Rasta merchandise area, then the rest of the restaurant. So if you happen to need Rasta gear, this is your place. We got there jerk beef ribs, chicken curry and of course jerk chicken. Each entree comes with a side as well. The flavors were good overall, but not mind-blowing. They seemed to be tamed down, and I'm not sure if that's how it normally is, or if they did that because we didn't look like we could take the full flavor. Either way, if the flavors were turned up, this would have been 5 stars. The beef ribs were tender, as was the chicken. Out of the dishes we got, the curry had the best flavor. Also my favorite side was the fried plantains. The rice was very flavorful and with some beans and cabbage sprinkled in, I was more than satisfied. The wait might have felt a little long but from what I could tell, it was a one man show, who had several takeout customers and a few delivery orders in addition to mine and my 2 colleagues. The dining room restaurant is your typical carry out but have seating available facilities. I also a rum punch which was very good. Met up with a classmate for dinner and we thought this would be a good place to try out since we've both never been here before. When I walked in to my left I saw that they had a case filled with Jamaican flags and jewelry and a shelf with different kinds of spices, sauces, and t-shirts representing Rasta pride. I love the sign that they had in the back of the room that showed Jamaican words and lingo. As we sat down I looked at the menu and they had an array of jerk and curry items and also other types of Jamaican food that I've never heard of. I love the variety, they all seemed delicious. I heard a customer that was sitting say that she liked the curried chicken so I decided to try that out because who doesn't like curry chicken. Once the food came out, I had to take a photo of it haha You can definitely taste the spices in the chicken and the rice was just simply delicious. The plate also had a mini salad which complimented the meal. I wish I would have ordered a fried plantain but there was enough food to take home. This is the place to go for flavor!! We went to Carribean Delight tonight and it was wonderful. Every bite was so flavorful! We had the ackee and salt cod fish which is the national dish of Jamica. We also tried the curry chicken and jerk chicken. Each was so so good. They are all served with veggies and another side. We tried plantains, rice and beans and a sweet fried bread called festival. I really like my plate, everything was seasoned sufficiently and, while I admittedly have nothing to compare it to, the Jerk Chicken was tasty. The lady up front (I assume she's the owner?) was friendly and answered our questions about the food. It's a very small restaurant and shares space with the pictured reggae memorabilia and other goods counter, so be prepared to sit tight or take out. So a coworker reeeeeaallllly loves his carribean curry goat (not goat curry and certainly not curried goat). Well he hit this place up and gave a big thumbs up. One day after work, a few coworkers were gonna go there and I passed as I was just too filthy and tired and needed to shower. They brought the food back to the hotel and were eating out on the patio. Well...I sat down with them after I'd showered etc and they have me some. OMG!!!! I literally drive my self up there right then and there to get some. As you can tell by my reviews I eats lots of Indian food and India goat curry is one of my favs. But I haven't really had carribean curry goat....well, scratch that...I had it when I was a kid believ it or not. In the cayman islands of all places!!! (My dad worked for twa so we could fly free. Well, back then no one heard of the Cayman Islands unless you worked in the travel industry. So...we went there a couple summers. I remember me and my brother being the o Lu people on the beach as far as the eye could see. It was grand. Proabbly mid/late 70's) Anyhow....we went to some restaurant some woman ran in a house. I don't really have much memory of that dinner. A bit. I can still sort of see the table and the walls. But don't honestly have a major recollection of the food. Maybe I didn't actually eat that much goat because I was kinda weirded out about eating goat. Well...back to this place. It's what you would call a bit of a hole in the wall. And that's a compliment really because that's where you find some of the best food regardless of ethnicity. I got the goat, rice, and cabbage with peas. It was superb. So good. Going back proabbly tomorrow. And hotpot multiple times before I finish this job (restoring the Durham Museum great hall ceiling!!!!). Oh...,,and the bottle of Jamaican ginger beer was unbelievable. Wow!!!!! What a wonderful drink. Not just the flavor....but it was so cold that it was just on the verge of barely starting to be a slushy. I mean not even remotely fully slush....but like just barely starting. It was sooooooo refreshing.
