Great place to go with a group. I enjoyed introducing Ethiopian food to members of my group who had never tried it. The best part is half way through the meal when the flavors have started to blend in together, or is it the injera? All of the dishes were very flavorful and the portion size of the combination platter was easily enough for 3 to share.

Today was first time at Lalibela. And man what have I been waiting for? DELICIOUS! Right when you walk in abs smell all the aromas from spices you know you are in for a treat. They are friendly and welcoming. I got the combination platter. SO good and lots of it lol. Next time I will just go for a meat dish only as it was so much food. Can't wait !

We came in on a Sunday afternoon and were immediately seated . The place was empty with only two other tables occupied . Our orders were taken right away and we got started with a nice refreshing cup of tea. The food also arrived promptly and looked like a substantial portion . Taste wise it was just alright - I believe most items lacked seasoning a little bit . The meat however was perfectly cooked and tasted good . Overall , I have mixed feelings but knowing that the city doesn't have a lot of Ethiopian restaurants to begin with , it might be worth a try .

Have taken a lot of people here and most of them really enjoy it. Theirbis easy/plenty of parking and the food comes out really quickly. The combo plate is the way to go and is enough for 2 people- I wish they had more varities (ie combo a, b, c) Tea - a must try ; such a great flavor The "negatives" You have to pay for water They don't want to give injera refills ; its typically limited to 1 maybe 1.5 pieces per person.

Amazing Ethiopian food! I highly recommend ordering some of their Ethiopian spiced tea, which smells like Christmas and tastes like love. I could drink a whole gallon of this stuff. For 5 people, we ordered 2 combos, which was just a bit too much food. The combo platter is large with a great variety of veg and meat dishes, including lentils, chicken, beef, egg, and cabbage. Some of the curries are spicier than others (and the light green one is very spicy - similar to wasabi). The platter comes with a basket of injera on the side, and you can request more injera as well. I loved all of the flavors and the communal dining experience, and it's a great amount of food for the price. Love Lalibela!

Two years had passed since my visit, as I no longer live in Omaha. The aromas and flavors are as delicious as ever; a definite sign of recipes perfected over time. Thank you for the wonderful food and best wishes to you all.

A nice little mom and pop establishment. the environment is nothing fancy but can tell you will be getting good authentic food. The menu has lots of options but is not overwhelming. We got two different platters and I enjoyed the sampling of avariety of foods. The dishes were flavorful and filling. The chai tea was also to die for. if you're looking for authentic Ethiopian food, this place definitely hits the spot. You will leave satisfied and very full.

This place never disappoints. The owners are very nice. Quick to seat us and get our order. They were out of coffee but shared their personal coffee and it was delicious! We ordered the combination plate and the lamb. This was my daughters first time here. She enjoyed it. She stated that she can't get others to go with that actually like seasoning on their food. We both ate til we were beyond full and still had enough for two to-go boxes. She brought them with for some good lunches. The restaurant seats about 30 people comfortably, dimmer lights and always some nice calming music playing.

Combo (veg meat) platter, also Kitfo , Key Wat we added onto the combo

We have been to many Ethiopian restaurants in numerous states and hands down this has always been the best. We ordered the combo platter, Kitfo and Key Wot. Everything was absolutely fantastic. Their spiced tea is so delicious and unique. It is my favorite. We make a point to eat there every time we visit Omaha.

Love love love Lalibela. I have been going here for years, and this restaurant never disappoints! Great food and tea. Plus, the owner is very kind. I typically go with 2-3 other people, and we share a combination platter. Each platter comes with a large piece of injera (spongy flatbread) with dollops of various stews and salads on top. This dish eaten by tearing small pieces of injera and using this to pick up the stews and salads. The injera under the stews and salads soaks up the flavors, and I usually end up asking for extra injera to pick these parts up to eat. This is a very filling and satisfying dish with rich flavors.

I've been here a few times now and it is great every time. We ordered the combination, such an awesome dish to experience multiple flavors. The food came out quickly, and I love the ambiance. Definitely worth a try if you've never been!

Ask the Community - Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant

Does anyone know if the injera is gluten free?

I dont know for them in specific - depends on the recipe though bc other flours aside from teff could be included which would make it have gluten

Are there many vegetarian and/or vegan dishes served here?

The vegetarian platter is vegan!

I love immigrants and for bringing their food and culture to our community, otherwise there is no way I could ever experience Somali cuisine. My all time favorite is their lamb shank with rice or spaghetti. Their spaghetti is far more delicious than many restaurants. It's my all time favorite because I love lamb. I always purchase a meal that comes with soup, salad and beverage and because you get a lot of bang for your buck. Last week I had their gyro meal and today I had their goat with fufu. There are several kinds of fufu depending on the culture. I guess you can exchange the side for rice or spaghetti as well. I have. I try to eat here as often as possible, one 1) because you get a large amount of food for what you pay for, and two 2} there are several dishes you have to choose from. I've eaten their salmon dish, their goat, their gyro's and, of course my all time favorite, their lamb shank. With money becoming tight and portions getting small, you can still get a lot of food for your money. And, as always, you can't beat their kind service and constant attention to make sure you are enjoying the meal and if everything is okay. High end service in a small family run restaurant hidden in the back of a strip mall waiting for curious customers to seek them out and enjoy authentic Somali cuisine. Yes, I will go back as I have many, many times over the last three years. Enjoy the food, enjoy the culture by stepping outside your box. I already know what I want to eat on my next visit. Thank you Hoyoo's for your service to the community. Always an experience when you eat outside the box. Experience a clean and friendly place to eat and to bring your family.

It is not the same as West African style Fu Fu, I don't really know how to describe it...soft and crumbly? It comes with a red sauce and a green sauce, like spinach. I like it with the "chicken steak". They'll bring a squeeze bottle of hot sauce to your table...it's hot! Really nice. And also a bottle of Ranch because that's always good. The space is bright and clean. Sometimes the TV is loud, there is a quieter room there, and of course they will turn down the volume if you ask. They will give you a drink and fruit with your meal. Sometimes I also get the spiced tea - super sweet. I was curious about the Anjera. This is not the same as Ethiopian Injera. The Anjera here is a breakfast food, served with sugar and sesame oil. It was very good and not like anything I had ever eaten before. Give this place a try!
