This was a challenging place to find today since it's difficult to go south on 72nd and head west on 275 from this direction. I would suggest going to 84th and turning onto L Street for easier access to this restaurant. It's a small parking lot and I'm glad there weren't too many cars there when we arrived. Tables have numbers on them and the person who greets you will tell you which number table to sit at. The menu is comprehensive and a mixture of Latin American cuisine. The soups are preferred by looking at the regular customers. I ordered the carne asada. The steak is small in comparison with other restaurants and not well marinated as I would like. The different types of hot sauces make up for the lack of strong lime or lemon acidity. The plate comes with lettuce, block of white cheese, beans, and a yogurt sauce. Tortillas are homemade and thicker and is more for dipping than wrapping items. Service was average and the owner did come by and ask us if we enjoyed the food. The seafood soup was excellent and the flavor was very good. I probably would order a different entree if given another opportunity to visit this restaurant. read more

So long story short.....I saw a Facebook video about pupusas and I had to try them! Thank you Yelp! This place is AMAZING, the Salvadoran tamales were so moist and delicious and I now prefer them to Mexican tamales. I ordered chicken, and it was filled with chicken and I think potato? Not sure, lol, but it was amazing.The pupusas come in several different varieties, cheese, bean and cheese,shrimp and cheese, pork and cheese, and mixed. My 8 year old loved the cheese variety, and she's not one to try new things either. This place is a super cute, family owned place. Service was on point! I could hear the cook in the kitchen patting the pupusas by hand. I just love supporting small family owned places, we will be back on a regular basis. read more

Last spring, I spent three weeks in the Dominican Republic and fell in love with the people and the food, particularly mofongo. When I returned to Omaha, I was on a quest to find a place that sold mofongo and this location is the only one that I am aware of currently. I've now been twice and I am most definitely a fan. As others have said, the place is relatively small and unassuming but the owners are very kind and attentive. Our most recent visit was because of a school assignment for my son, so we actually ordered a variety of things. First, we had three pupusas: shrimp, cheese, and bean. I've only had pupusas once before so I'm no expert but these three didn't last long at our table. In fact, we ordered two more "to go" before leaving. The chicken tamales were not really my favorite, the masa was a bit too mushy for me. I ordered the chicken mofongo, which was very good. It's not served quite the same as what I had in the DR but I did enjoy it. My wife ordered a chicken soup, which was filled with potatoes, carrots, and other veggies. It also had two large pieces of chicken and this was a tasty soup on a cold day. They have a good variety of dishes on the menu, so I do look forward to coming back to enjoy other things. The service was attentive and the food is great, though it takes a bit longer given that everything is made when ordered. I definitely plan to be back! Latino Legacy is a nice family owned spot off the beaten path. It sits back in the corner of some office rows. Walking in we were greeted by a very friendly smiling business owner, and some bright decor. The menu is heavy on el salvador influence and a lot of it was new to me. I chose the shrimp platter and my lunch buddy got the chicken and onions. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and cooked just tender as could be. quality tasting and some of the best shrimp i have had.. I was very impressed. there was also a little salad and some plain white rice. My friend raved about his chicken and said it was one of the best. I really loved this place but it was a bit pricey after tip it was over $30.00 and a bit too costly for the food we received. However I do love the local family owned business and am looking forward to returning but will plan on it being a $$$ meal. read more

Just go here, okay!!! We went on a chilly weekend evening, and filled our tummies and our hearts with their amazing food! I had a really sore throat, so I needed a hot drink and tried Atole!!! Oh my god, why had I not tasted this ever before? So so good! I'm a fan already. To put it simply, Atole is a Latin-American version of hot chocolate (but way more yummy)!!! What we tried- Nachos, Atole, Pupusas (there were on-point perfect), Mofongo with garlic shrimps. The nachos were a very different texture than what I am used to in other restaurants, and came with a bean based sauce. Tasted lovely! I was trying Mofongo for the first time, so I didn't know what to expect , but I found it a little dry. But the Garlic Shrimps, they completely hit the nail on the head with that one, they were so good!!!! Just too good! Service-Very nice service. Our server was very friendly. I have purchased food here three times so far. They have a good variety of menu items and I have plans to try everything. I've ordered Bandeja Paisa twice because I like it so much! The prices range from high to really low, so I think it really depends on what you order. I have always ordered over the phone and then went into the restaurant to pick up my food. The staff are so very nice! They've always been patient with my questions. They sell bakery items, like sweet bread in a glass case by the cash register. The meat with the Bandeja Paisa is a bit tough and crunchy/crispy, but very tasty! The plantains are full of sweet flavor and this was the first that I've eaten Cassava. The arepas are amazing, corny good! I've also tried each kind of their Pupusas. Very good and not expensive at all. They do allow indoor dining as well and the staff do wear masks. We sat and started to order but ended up walking out without even trying the food. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, I can cook all of the boricua dishes listed on the menu. Located where a Peruvian restaurant used to be, Latino Legacy aims at honoring its own name by presenting an assortment of central american and south american entrees. Namely, as a true legacy to the prior tenant, they still have two staple Peruvian dishes: Lomo Saltado and Bistec a lo Pobre. The owner is Salvadorian and so he has pupusas in his menu as well as Salvadorian sodas. (BY THE WAY: Wednesdays are Pupusas days and he sells them for 1 dollar... which is awesome). I ordered the Lomo Saltado and boy it was good. The seasoning and portion was on point, obviously with their own twist as non-peruvians. My only complaint would be that the quality of the meat was not great, but the sauce and cooking time was great. I also took home some pork pupusas which were very savory. Overall, a good place, though a bit pricey in their entrees. I will come back again as the owner makes you feel welcome and he is very kind (and as an addon, he is keeping himself safe by staying 6 feet away, wearing a mask and putting the tables far from each other. I have not being at Puerto Rico in 5 years so i really miss the food of my country, especially Mofongo (smash plantain). Here at Legacy everything was perfect. Service was outstanding, food awesome!. Plus they have other stuff at the menu im going to try for sure. OMG for a spanish truck driver is hard to find some good non-mexican food and this place delivers 100% but unfortunately I was on a rental car to get my truck so I did stop here and I don't regret it. It was for take out but it was delicious, food was better than what I imagine, very clean restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff. I order Mofongo con camarones al ajil and carnitas con tostones for later. The shrimp were large and delicious, mofongo was out of this world, the carnitas didn't last and were not dry, not fatty, just perfect in every bite and the tostones wow. I 110% recommend this place to get some delicious Spanish food, I will be back even if I have to walk or have it deliver to my location. read more

This is definitely a great place to try authentic Puerto Rican food, as well as a variety of other Latin American foods ranging from Salvadorian to Peruvian, Colombian, etc... Service was friendly and swift. I ate Mofongo con Camarones (mashed plantains w/ shrimp) which was very good. There's a lot of flavor in the shrimp, which came with two delicious sauces to dip the shrimp in. The Mofongo tastes great, its definitely authentic Puerto Rican. Also had an Arepa which has a very strong & delicious corn taste that's amplified by the butter from the dip included with the Arepa. Also tried the Colombian platter (Bandeja Paisa) which is Colombia's national dish, as well as some pupusas with beans, cheese & pork on the inside. Colombian platter was definitely good, although the meat on the fried pork belly is a bit fatty and the grilled steak is really tough but it's definitely a filling meal & has great taste. This is a hidden spot that I visited with my boyfriend who is half Salvadoran and half mexican... he has grown up eating latino food all his life and he approved! We got pork and shrimp pupusas and they were cheesy and delicious! We also got the tamales, tacos and fajitas and I loooved it all! Also, very reasonable prices! This was our first time trying Latino Legacy and I'm happy we went. We tried Papusa with pork and it was so good probably my favorite things there. Also tried a combination plate with shrimp, chicken and steak that was very tasty. They put love into their food and the owner came out to check on us and said his wife is the one that makes the papuse by hand. My husband is from Central America (Guatemala to be exact!) - and he hell in love with the food at Latino Legacy from the first visit. Traditional Central American breakfasts (fried plantains, beans, sour cream, etc.) are his favorite. I usually some variation of the same. The owner is typically who waits on us during out lunch visits, and he has an amazing personality and is just an extremely likeable dude. I don't say this very often - but he definitely makes you feel at home. If you're looking for something different - give it a try! Tons of food for a totally affordable price. We haven't been lately since my office moved, but we will have to make our way back soon. read more

Puerto Rican in Omaha? Yes! This is the best meal I've had in Omaha, and there's some pretty good food here. I had pollo guisado, and let me tell you, it was legit. First time trying this place. Was looking for some Latin food and was a bit skeptical driving up since it was a whole in the wall. Communication was hard with the servers..but managed. Went here for lunch with a group of friends on a weekday. I'm not super familiar with the area, so we drove past it the first time. It's in a strip mall with a grocery store, tattoo shop and some other random stuff. I had seen this place online and discovered that they had something I loved from days in Boston (Jamaica Plain, represent, baby)--pupusas! Walking in, the place seems pretty clean. A view country-specific decorations on the walls, very simple tables and chairs, and tvs. The place was nearly empty; that's a shame. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and open. They checked on us regularly and even shared stories about how/when the foods were traditionally eaten (some folks had never had the food before). We had a mix of Puerto Rican and Salvadoran food: I went on a meatless day so, I can only vouch for the meatless stuff. bean and cheese pupusas (good) a breakfast dish with beans, eggs, cheese, plantains and tortilla (pretty good--the cheese was good, but there was some mayonaissy thing on the plate that was kind gross) Some cole slaw-looking dish that was kind of spicy, if you like cole slaw (I don't), you may like it. beef stew (my lunch mates like this) something with tripe that I didn't dare to try (it was in a stew) and mofongo (got a thumbs up for this from the group). We asked for a side of salsa and, according to the table, it was crazy hot, so if you're not a spicy person, don't ask for it. All in all, good food for decent prices. Would differently try it again. Nothing special but expectations were minimal. 3 stars Food - Ordered the lunch special... chicken in a cream sauce with dominican rice, and a bean and cheese papusa. Lunch appeared within minutes and was very good. A whole chicken had been chopped with a clever so you had to watch for bones but the flavor was good.... as was the rice. The papusa was ok but nothing great. Food - 4 stars Service was quick and friendly... no complaints - 4 stars Price - the place was pricey. Lunch special for two with drinks was over $30. Little stiff for lunch... 2 stars Overall pretty good... but for the price, I will keep looking. read more

They used some sort of citrus with the mash which is not authentic and it tasted a bit tart, but the fact that they were able to get green plantains, fry them up and season the mash well was not lost on me. I had the garlic shrimp and it was delicious. Definitely not authentic in the Puerto Rican food department, but it was a nice try and it hit the spot. I'd still go back. read more

I yelped this on my way home form work and was in the mood for some "Mexican" Food. Since I only glanced at the restaurant description while stopped at a light, I did not see that it was NOT another Taco joint. I did suddenly feel very much "Gringo" as my assumption that Latin = Mexican, and I am very glad for that because I probably would not have checked Latin Legacy out. I also in my haste did not notice that Yelp indicated that they were close on Wednesday, but they were in fact quite open for business. Once I did see this I told the owner and he said he would have his daughter change it... so just know that they are open all day on Wed. I have no idea what I ordered. I just asked for a recommendation and had a little faith they would not make me something crazy (in my mind) like a tripe salad with donkey hoof. What I got was some kind of chicken in an orange colored sauce with rice, salad, and 2 pupusas. It was REALLY tasty! Like wow I need to broaden my horizons tasty. My dinner only came to just over $12 and I thought it was a fair price for the amount of food I received. I ate half and saved the rest for lunch the next day.
