The baked goods are always delicious- today, we had a mini key lime pie and a chocolate scone. We chatted with Judy who was checking on all of the boutique displays- she was very friendly and made our visit even nicer. North Mankato has such a gift in having Neutral Groundz as a cafe and meeting spot. We started with strawberry iced tea with hibiscus ice cubes, which was so refreshing. We ordered a pot of the jade oolong, and it was delicious, although the whole menu is huge and the variety is fantastic. The food was AMAZING; it's all vegan, but even us meat-eaters were satisfied! We started with warm cherry fig scones (shaped like teapots!), then had loaded potato salad, butterbean soup, and various tea sandwiches (the vegan "pastrami" from The Herbivorous Butcher was so good!). The dessert tray was the high point, though: dark chocolate orange chia pudding with coconut whipped cream, their famous almond tea cookies, and these tropical fruit pastries that I can't remember the name of. My boyfriend is not normally a fan of sweets and he still ate most of his half, which is saying something! Prices are comparable to what you would find at a co-op or health food store in MSP. Good quality ingredients and products used (I read the label on the protein powder that I added to my bowl). The seating area is cute and has lots of small tables. They have some magazines to read and guest wifi. Clean bathroom. They also have free fruit infused water I'd be a regular for sure if I lived in town. Would be a great place to meet a friend or to go on a day date. They also have a few tables outside on the sidewalk.
