First time in this old style town .. love it so far. Breakfast was a quick bite at River Rock .. herbed quiche and an acai bowl with protein powder. The quiche was super fluffy and smooth with rosemary. The crust was cooked perfectly .. not mushy or burnt ... flakey throughout. The staff was super nice and helpful. This is always a stop when I am driving through town, it is a modern cafe vibe and the service is always quick and helpful. I love being able to try the seasonal coffees, they are always unique and delicious! I have tried a couple of baked goods but haven't found one that I love. I would definitely skip the quiche, and go with another breakfast option. read more

The coffee was mid at best, not very full flavored. Also was a bit disappointed with the pastries we purchased being that there were fruit flies buzzing around in the case. The server was friendly but overall not a great experience. read more

What a cute little cafe with nice selections of bites. We parked in front of the store on a rainy Sunday during lunch time. The cafe is quite busy. Minus one star for the salad I ordered. The leaves doesn't feel as fresh, the portion is small or a bit over priced in my opinion. Plus one star for being super toddler friendly. Has story books, toys and a nice changing table. We ordered 3 sandwiches: grilled chesses, tuna melt and ham and cheese melt. We also ordered matcha acai bowl as my toddler loves it. Service and ambiance were great! My coffee/espresso strength preference has always been,"it can float a horseshoe". While I appreciated the quality of syrups and ingredients, I unfortunately was not a fan of the espresso roast. My husband and I both got the largest size with quad shots, he an americano and myself a cardamon vanilla oat milk latte. He's Americano wasn't super strong and the latte tasted more syrup flavor than actual coffee after asking for half syrup. Again, my preference is always strong, dark espresso and I didn't get that here. read more

Loved it here! It was kind of late in the day so I ordered a tropical smoothie. Service was very friendly and only one person was working there so it was a bit of a wait. They have a lot of food options as well. Their pastries are made in St. Peter and a lot of their products are local! Perfect place to study and just hang out. read more

Artisan coffee in the heart of Minnesota. I observed a Bosnian man walk in, order a cappuccino, and exclaim- "this is the best coffee in all of Mankato!" Delicious pastries also: I had the rosemary sea salt chocolate chip cookie, as well as the peach muffin, on different occasions. Can be iffy sometimes depending on who's working but normally they have great options and brews. They have an outdoor patio for the summer and some seating indoors as well. More on the fresh and clean side than cozy. read more

The food was okay. Microwaved frittata. The service was not great. The woman at the counter made you feel like you were bothering her by being there. It took 15 minutes to get a microwaved frittata. I moved here from Portland and it reminds me of a lot of the coffee shops there, where they make a solid effort to support local vendors and if not local, organic and small businesses. Great atmosphere, serves quality coffee and food. One critique is I ordered a honey cinnamon iced latte and would prefer brewed espresso over the iced milk versus cold brew so the honey mixes with the espresso better and for better flavor. Went in for a panini, didnt realise that they dont make sandwiches in the kato store. so i had what was on the menu which was a tuna melt. i had a 5.00 gift card which is the only reason I even ordered it due to the 10.00 pricetag, and that is for the sandwich only..no bag of chips..no drink. And when I asked for extra Aioli on it they couldnt even do that because the sandwiches are made in the morning in st.peter and brought to the mankato store. not even freshly made. wont run back there. pretty place tho. read more

This place is EASILY the best coffee shop in Mankato. I am so happy they decided to put a second location here because I love the location in St. Peter as well. Every time I go there, I have an amazing experience with the staff, ambience, and food/drinks. This day in particular, I just went to Neutral Groundz to try and "switch it up", which just ended up with me not being able to even stomach the drink they made for me there. I decided to go to River Rock for a re-do to my morning and it was awesome. I got a pour over, which never disappoints, and I noticed a new drink on the menu: Rosemary Caramel Latte. Intrigued, I asked the employee how it tasted and she assured me it was delicious. After chatting a bit, I waited for my drink and was pleasantly surprised when the employee handed my my pour over and then a smaller cup which contained a mini Rosemary Caramel Latte she made for me to sample without me even asking! Needless to say, this place is great both in the quality of their products and their staff. Both drinks tasted amazing. To someone that worked in a coffee shop for 7 years and has been all over tasting different espresso, this place offers great quality coffee and espresso that just tastes smooth.
