We stayed a week on the island and this was a place that we ate dinner out one evening. It was the best place that we tried that week. They have indoor and some limited outdoor seating which was nice as it was a nice evening to sit out. I had a salmon meal and my wife had a steak. Both were very good and the service as nice. I asked for the Walla Walla onion and they freaking served me a shallot. like what. the waiter with the fluffy brown hair and unibrow with nice teeth. kinda tall dark and handsome kinda... he yelled at me for complaining about onions. This guy CLEARLY doesn't know his onions. I think he should go to ONION SCHOOL 2027. It would be free since he has poor onion knowledge. The right place at the right time sometimes overrides all other choices. Caribsea just happened to fit that situation, and I was not disappointed! Reservations recommended but not required... though, we visited in the off season for the coast and even early dinner was busier than expected. The location and entrance is a little deceiving until you realize it is not only inside the hotel, but also up on the third floor. That lends itself to a nice view of the sound side, and an intimate setting. I was there with a friend and we were looking for something light with preparing for a long day of bike racing the next morning. I chose the shrimp-n-grits, and was absolutely impressed with the depth of flavors the kitchen was able to achieve in the dish. The grits were creamy, with just the right texture, and savory, while complementing the slight saltiness of the bacon and butter, with the sweetness of the shrimp. We generally have had great experiences for dinner Caribsea. We tried the new Sunday brunch for the first time. Probably won't go back for brunch. Pretty simple orders for our table of 4, and 2 of the 4 orders came out incorrectly. Presentation was OK, but not consistent with the pricing for breakfast. For example, fruit was poorly trimmed. We paid $8 for an extra side of sausage and were presented with a plate containing a single sausage patty by itself. The atmosphere was OK, but the staff seemed generally not up to the task. Waitress didn't know how to enter the orders into their system, the check was wrong and needed to be corrected, and the Chef was visibility frustrated in the visible kitchen. Overall, the support staff seemed unhappy to be working. On a positive note, most of the food we had was good. Eggs Benedict was prepared very well. The waitress was friendly. Maybe time will let them work out the kinks, and it wasn't all bad, but currently the overall experience was not worth the price for brunch, so 3 stars. read more

We visited this restaurant while on vacation in Emerald Isle. Little did we know when visiting everything in the area food wise is pretty much closed between Mon-Wed which left us with very limited options. We looked up reviews for this place on yelp and saw mixed reviews but we had hope. We gave Caribsea a chance and we are SO glad we did. We are foodies (from Buffalo Ny) so we love our food and can say our dinner here was AMAZING! It was so fresh. My husband got the sushi to start which was great. The simple salad was incredible. Simple but so good. For dinner we tried the shrimp and grits and it was so flavorful. The shrimp scampi was also great. Lots of shrimp came with it. Highly recommend coming here. Overpriced for sub par food. We went to Caribsea thinking it would be a more upscale dining experience. We had a reservation for a party of seven and arrived a little early was told we could not be seated until our exact reservation time (despite the restaurant not being full) that was okay, we waited patiently. At the precise time of our reservation we were seated. Our waitress was not pleasant and acted like she was annoyed to be working. We ordered appetizers and food. Our party was nice and polite, one person ordered a regular soda and got a diet so she asked for it to be exchanged which she was hesitant to even do. The food is very pricey compared to other area restaurants or restaurants with similar prices and options (we eat out often) but that is okay IF they live up to their marketing and give you the wow factor of good food. Really the food wasn't bad but was sub par compared to other places and defiantly not worth the price you pay or the service. My husband ordered the crab cakes and said they were okay but not the best he has had, that is his go to when we eat seafood. Maybe it was a bad night or maybe they capitalize on the tourist dollar and one time diners and good marketing. Either way it was a disappointing experience. read more

On Emerald Isle in an office building looking type place is where you'll find this incredible restaurant. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor where you will meet the friendly staff. One part is a little more casual and the other area was a little more elegant. The food was soooo good. We started with the simple salad that had fried goat cheese cake on it. That goat cheese cake was excellent and made the salad. We also had the shrimp and grits (try not to lick the plate) and the mahi mahi with red curry curry & lemongrass-coconut milk, zucchini & yellow squash, creamy polenta. There are quite a few different ambiance's you can experience at this restaurant. Both indoor options match the price point of the menu. The decks, however, are entirely too informal for a high end menu. There is so much that the rooftop space could offer and it's absolutely underwhelming. Cheap furniture stacked on top of each other. The food. Overall, everything was "fine". But again, just doesn't live up to the price point. I would come back here again with different expectations. I am so glad that Yelp recommended this to me. I am staying right up the road and the reviews sounded great. On the outside it looks like a fancy office building, then you go up the elevator to a beautiful restaurant. I loved the decor and the view. The staff were all very friendly and our server, Rhett was fantastic. It was his first night and he did great. The manager came over and he was also fabulous. We started with a crab dip and beef tartare. I loved the chickpeas on the tartare. It was excellent. The crab dip was delicious. It was not overly creamy and it was full of crab. We each ordered one of their famous crab cakes with the simple salad. It was pure crab. Absolutely wonderful!! The salad was also wonderful. I loved everything about this meal. I look forward to dining here several times. They also have a bar on the 4th floor that's open Wednesday-Saturday. read more

Ate here twice in one week. Still thinking about those crab cakes. The first time was dinner with friends. Nothing to complain about, but overall we were underwhelmed. My friend had been there before and her favorite entree was no longer available but the server was able to recommend an alternative entree that was altered to be similar to my friends choice. That was a definite plus and very appreciated. If, when they brought the food, they would have know which steak was well done and which was med rare that would have been nice as well. Instead we ended up having to trade at the table. Overall our table of 4 had 4 nice entrees and we were fine, but no one was overly impressed with their meal for the price. Where we were impressed was the crab cakes and the desserts. Honestly, I'd go just for either of those and skip the entrees. The second go round was a company cocktail and appetizer hour (or 4!). Water only for me, but give me those crab cakes. Not every appetizer was amazing but there was plenty of good stuff to try. I follow their IG and was so excited to try their frequently posted special bar menu with $10 appetizers. My party arrived at 5 on a Wednesday night ready to enjoy some tasty apps and cocktails. We were greeted by an extremely rude young hostess who not only shamed us for not having a reservation, but also had no idea about the special bar menu...as was the case with every staff person we came in contact with. We were finally ushered to a small bar and were given the bar bites menu. We were the only people at bar dining from the special menu that is so hyped on social media. The food was decent, but nothing noteworthy. On our way out we noticed a lounge just off the main dining room that was filled with people, with a musician setting up for live entertainment. Why weren't we led to this area when we asked about the special bar menu????? The whole evening was so disappointing and needless to say we will never return. read more

This is a nice fancy restaurant where fancy means you just should wear a collared shit and nice shorts for a guy and a nice beach dress for a girl. Great selection of small and large plates, a special sushi item etc. I had the sushi special, the small size, a great sushi roll. It was plenty for an entree for one. We also had the baked oyster appetizer, three oysters each. My wife loved it! It was just OK to me. We also each had their small dinner salad, which was good but I felt it was missing something. It needed something small and sweet, perhaps craisins to offset the tartness of the baked goat cheese. My wife had the shrimp and scallops fish entree but it is appetizer size, 3 shrimp and 2 scallop.
