WOW, this place is delicious!…read more Our family stopped in London for the last part of our cruise. After touring St. Paul's Cathedral, we were pretty hungry. We found The Fat Bear via Yelp!, and decided to give it a try. There were so many things on the menu that looked really good, but I had been craving chicken and waffles. The waffles were crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside -- the chicken, cooked perfectly, too. The syrup they serve it with is incredible. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in London! Carson C. Visalia, California

I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.

Tasty daily thali and OMG the methi thepla plate that is so satisfying. Candidly, you can get better vada pau and pav bhaji at the nearby location of Sri Krishna Vada Pau. Pau is the small square loaf of bread so well known in Mumbai and likely getting its name from Portuguese, reflecting Mumbai's Portuguese heritage. Only food establishments with an authentic Mumbaikar pedigree seem to get the Vada Pau and Pau Bhaji right. However, Thakers is a great find and in close proximity to a Sakoni (perhaps the longest chaat serving restaurant in London going back to its original Wembly location) and a few other great Indian restaurants. Besides Hounslow is easier to get to being on the Picadilly line just before Heathrow. I always wanted to try East African influenced Gujarati food and this satisfied my craving until, one of these days, I make my food pilgrimage to Mombasa and Nairobi.

Must try the rabbit if you are into it, creamy flavor and the meat fell off the bone. It's kinda like duck confit but switch with rabbit leg. Had to ask more bread to dip into the sauce. Service was great, the manager was very accommodating to find 5 of us a table when we didn't have a reservation. The place is super busy reservation is highly recommended.

You sit next to strangers and get served in a big bowl which you then negotiate sharing - this isn't half as bad as you'd imagine as the portions are fairly big & whilst we did chat to our neighbours a bit it (mainly to discuss whether we could eat a bit more from the bowl) it didn't feel like we were forced to interact. The food was almost 5star, the initial bread with olive oil would've been a lot nicer if the bread had at least been warmed (particular as the venue is pretty cold - so make sure to wear something warm!) the artichocke with the butter sauce was really delicious, and enormous! It was fun deflowering it, and eating it bit the whole deflowering it and eating it leaf by leaf was fun. The parpadelle with mushrooms was DELICIOUS! And the mains! Omg the Beef was divine! I was happy with my piece although I noticed the that one of the cuts was significantly bigger than the rest and envied the lucky guy who got that bit. The dessert was a little bit of a let down for me - the pannacotta with citrus fruits didn't really work - too much cream and sour with no sweetness to balance it out. Overall I enjoyed the whole experience and I'm hoping to come down to try their weekend lunch at some point!
