Talk about some good, fried chicken wings! I loved that they were the "whole" wing... so instead of breaking them into 2 (drum and wing), they kept them together. I'm not sure what makes chicken wings better that way, but it works! The wings were fried to perfection, with just a little extra crunch than I usually like but they were still awesome. I got the buffalo and my friend got the honey bbq. If I had to choose again, I'd opt for the honey bbq. The ranch is an extra .50 and honestly not worth it. The wings have enough flavor and the ranch isn't very good. They do all you can eat wings on Wednesday's I believe... possibly Thursday. You can also do BOGO drinks during happy hour. I'd definitely come back, for the wings alone. The drinks were a bit sweet and a bit weak for my taste. Seating upstairs and downstairs. So I thought long and hard before giving this restaurant a 3. Considering I was on vacation in London from Chicago, that has some of the best chicken wings, my standard for chicken wings is sky high. We ordered wings, fries, and absurd mac and cheese. The wings were made in the plain buttermilk with no sauce and the other half was with buffalo sauce. The plain wings were delicious, as were the buffalo. The ranch dipping sauce was NOT traditional ranch sauce but some white sauce with way too much dill. The fries were regular, but the absurd mac and cheese was not good. When you cook mac and cheese with jalapeños in vinegar, everything is going to taste like vinegar. I couldn't taste the cheese, and supposedly it had pulled chicken in it, which I didn't see. read more

Didn't know there was an absurd bird in soho! It was a great night and the food was amazing! Wait till you see my pictures! Downstairs is cosy and i would definitely recommend making a booking if you're coming by. The bartender is great, so are the waiter and waitresses. Loads of banter going around and always up for a chat, which is always nice! On to the food..so I was waiting for artichoke dip to appear and YES IT DID! Oh my lord, the rave about absurd bird artichoke dip is real and legit! Can I say..I really did want to ask if i can pack it home, but was rather shy about it. People, this is a must to order when you're at absurd bird! Next on, the wings - hmmm, I really like the spicy wings! Oh and the garlic mayo wings (i think?), so so good. Although I kind of felt like we did kill a lot of chickens that night, the sacrifice made by the chicken(s) was definitely worth it. I know a lot of people in the group really like the dirty buns but hands down my favourite were the wings and artichoke dip with fried tortilla chips! After being in Paris for two days and experiencing horrible food a trip to London and stopping at Absurd bird was awesome. The food was great and our waitress had such a good personality (Iliyana). It's your average southern fried chicken place with warm and cozy vibes and good food. Make sure you order the Hill Billy iced Tea if you're in need of a good cocktail with a good amount of alcohol. Be careful it sneaks up on you. After all it has moonshine in it. We ordered the biscuits, mac and cheese, buttermilk wings, and sweet potato bake. The chicken could've used more seasoning but was still very good. The sides were a hit! Definitely recommend this place and the waitress! read more

The menu is very tempting and the food is genuinely quite good, however, this place is tired and worn. Needs an update, that maybe on the cards anyway as the building is being renovated. Steps to get downstairs are quite slippy, the kitchen is upstairs and open. The staff are less than attentive we'd finished our meal and they came to ask if we wanted more drinks, it may be that we were their last clients of the evening, but they missed out on an extra drinks round by leaving it too late. Had to ask for ketchup for chips and a refill of water. Nice chicken; great sweet potato chips; poor burger/sandwich buns; onion rings were really crunchy, some though tough as nails. You walk in this small cosy space that has three tables and the kitchen. Our table was downstairs where the decor is different from upstairs but still as cosy with only a few tables and the bar. My friends and I shared the buffalo wings, the fried buttermilk wings and the smoked garlic parmesan and lemon wings. All were delicious but the garlic parmesan and lemon wings were out of this world. Definitely everyone's favourite at our table. We also ordered mains, the sliders, the dirty buns and the chicken and waffles. The buns and the sliders were wow and whilst the chicken and waffles was nice, it was a huge portion and perhaps a little sweet for my taste. Still would give the restaurant 5* as it is amazing value for money, the cocktails are beautiful too and from 5 to 8 pm ( I think usually it's until 7pm) they have happy hour with cocktails at £5, BARGAIN! read more

Great place for good fried chicken. Tried their special chicken waffle cone.. Love it.. Wish it had more chicken in it, or that it was spread all over.. Also ordered the mac and cheese.. Yum. The only thing I say is that we waited nearly 50 mins for food.. The place is really small, so be prepared for some bumps from other diners.they recommend that you book, but we saw people just turning up for a table too, so take your chances of not booking. Having had delivery from them a few weeks ago, when tasked with arranging drinks and dinner with some friends, I chose the absurd bird. We arrived as probably the last customers of the evening (8:30pm on a Tuesday, not exactly normal going out time!) and elected to eat upstairs in the booth rather than downstairs in the bar, as we'd have the upstairs area to ourselves. We had arrived 'merry' and the staff had no problem with it. We ordered a few moonshine cocktails and a range of dishes, all to share. They arrived in stages as they were ready and I don't think any of us were unhappy with the food. Spinach and artichoke dip was delivered with home-made tortilla chips, maybe a little big for sharing but they broke apart nicely for dipping. Jalapeno mac & cheese was piping hot and went well with sweet potato fries. Buttermilk wings AND buffalo wings were ordered, and were a nice counterpoint to each other, the crispy buttermilk pairing off nicely against the spicy, messy buffalo wings. Finally, we had the chicken sliders and they were so juicy inside, and the little buns were the perfect size for the meat (it's an important ratio!). While we ate the open kitchen was slowly shut down for the night, and it was impressive to watch the chefs at work, the professionalism they showed with cleaning the place showed the type of place we were in. Yes, at the most basic level, it's a fried chicken place, but the pride that they show in their kitchen translates to the food that they prepare. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough! Friendly, efficient service with just the right amount of attention, great atmosphere and absolutely delicious food and cocktails. My dinner companion really enjoyed getting messy with his tasty buffalo wings, my chicken tenders with honey mustard dip were indeed tender, and our shared absurd fries, jalapeno cheese biscuits with apple butter, and fried pickles were all divine. I will definitely be back, as I didn't get to try enough of the unusual cocktails. The price was not cheap but not extortionate, as an FYI they add 12.5% service charge to the bill, but we were happy to pay that. read more

Bottomless brunch on a rainy Friday bank holiday was tasty and definitely bottomless. Staff were very nice and accommodating. The only critique would be the consistency of the spinach and artichoke dip, flavours were great but it was too liquidy and runny. I was also slightly underwhelmed by the size of the chicken waffle benedict. Would try them again but maybe go for just the chicken and waffle next time. :-) read more

Newly opening I hadn't seen it before in Soho but I'll definitely be going back. Downstairs there are more spaces for dining but still with a cosy feel! The lights are great and make for a good picture. I was not prepared for the amount of food I was about to consume but it was some of the best chicken I have ever had. The guys at the bar served us great cocktails and what was really great was they knew a lot about their products. Before last night I had never heard of or tasted moonshine but the guys at absurd bird filled me in on what it was and I got to try it in their cocktails and I've got to say it was delicious! For starters we had a large selection of chicken (buttermilk fried chicken, buffalo wings and BBQ wings all super tasty!) but my favourite definitely had to be the spinach and artichoke dip fried tortilla chips (THIS IS A MUST!!). Continuing to mains we had a selection of all the chicken. The waffle with syrup and chicken and gravy was an amazing combination MUCH to my surprise as this was the first time I had tried it and it was delicious!! My absolute favourite dish that have to be had and I would highly recommend we're the dirty buns! Crispy chicken with a spicy mayo in a bao buns! London is a incredibly expensive city. That said, Absurd Bird is a tad over the top. Instead of dealing with the crowds and waiting in line, we decided to do takeout. Two orders of chicken and waffles and one order of fries. Just over 28 pounds (that translates to $36.) How was the food? The chicken was great. A little on the greasy side, but isn't that what you expect from fried chicken? The waffles were not so great. Because they were tossed in the bag along with the chicken, they absorbed a lot of steam and had no crisp at all. The sweet potato fries were okay, but I wouldn't order them again. If you're in the Soho neighborhood and have a hankering for fried chicken, go ahead and give the Absurd Bird a shot. Just don't complain later about the price. :) read more
