Saying goodbye to you family is never easy. However, our experience with Dr. Stephanie was as…read moreseamless and compassionate as we could have hoped for. She is very knowledgeable and kind, took everything at our pace and explained the steps before and during the procedure. She took measures to ensure that our kitty, Cassie was as comfortable and calm as possible. After the injection to make her sleepy we got to give her her favorite treat. She fell asleep with her tongue out, completely at peace. Dr. Stephanie came over after a few minutes and verified that she was gone and reassured us that we'd done the right thing in ending her suffering. We even had the option to keep Cassie for a few hours after she passed to say our last goodbyes before dropping her off at the aquamation center. All day we kept saying how we couldn't believe how relieved we felt and how a lot of our anxiety had been that it would not be peaceful, like the time we'd lost our other cat. We had so much closure around Cassie's passing right after it happened and I think a lot of that was due to the fact that Journey Home did such an incredible job at making Cassie's last day so normal that she didn't know what was happening. A few weeks later Cindy dropped off a beautiful package of memory keepsakes and her ashes. We will treasure them forever. The services are a bit more expensive than going in to the vets office, but was cheaper than other in-home euthanasia options we looked into. If you have the funds to invest in this, it's definitely worth it. We felt at peace with our decision and felt supported by the whole team before, during and after. If we ever have to make this decision again, we will choose Journey Home.

Kiki had massive rear leg injuries after losing a fight with a pickup truck. My husband and I rushed her to CSU -Vet hospital and at the appropriate time the incredible staff there (amazing place - kudus for another story) led us to Connie for the remainder of Kiki's initial recovery. Our dog had to spend over 2 months in care; most of which was spent with Connie in her home/facility. Our dog, like many of them at the Resort, required high level medical care and attention. Connie saw that she received that care from whatever source needed. I don't know how Connie does it but somehow all of her charges receive exactly what they need - medical and/or therapy attention - and equally important - love and hugs, and the ability to be a dog despite the problems and handicaps. When it was finally time for our girl to come home Kiki was on her way to healing and her spirit for living was stronger than ever. She thrived for another six years (during which Kiki had periodic visits with Connie and "friends") until a natural passing due to age. We visited CHR during the time Kiki was there and now, even without her, we visit our friend just to witness and marvel at what Connie brings to the lives of these precious patients. To watch Connie run a large number of her charges for their daily outings with no leashes, and yet have total control with only verbal commands, is astonishing. The dogs are joyous. These walks must be incredibly freeing to the dogs as they seem to momentarily escape from being aware of their physical challenges. My husband and I are forever indebted to what Connie did for our beloved Kiki. CHR homeplace is lovely, clean, cozy and spacious but not pretentious or fancy - what dog cares about that? What it provides is what I think most dogs care about - being safe and secure, feeling better, being stimulated and having fun, getting to stretch their legs and feel the sunshine - and feeling treasured while missing their families.

We lost him unexpectedly, and Megan was incredibly compassionate, caring, and thoughtful throughout the entire process. She came to our home to pick him up, performed an examination, and shared her professional thoughts on what may have caused his sudden passing. She carefully wrapped him in a blanket before taking him for the water cremation, which helped bring us comfort during such a heartbreaking time. The entire process was quick, affordable, and handled with exceptional care. The water cremation was beautifully done. His remains were returned in a lovely silk pouch, and we received beautifully crafted paw prints for my husband, myself, and each of our children. We also received a small glass keepsake containing his name and a lock of his fur. As an added touch, there was a packet of wildflower seeds and a scented candle, which was such a thoughtful and meaningful gesture. Overall, we were truly blown away by the level of compassion, care, and attention to detail provided by Companion Crossroads. We are incredibly grateful for the kindness they showed our family and would highly recommend their services to anyone facing the loss of a beloved pet.
