If you want your loved one to be treated with respect, dignity, and appropriate care this is NOT…read morethe place. Fact, I visit my loved one at least every 3-4 days. Each time I am emptying and cleaning the bedside commode filled with urine and feces, table tops, bed anything my loved one is touching in the room. My love one bed covers and clothes smell of urine, why because she does not have the disposable underpants available in the room. They accuse her of not asking however, I have asked on a Thursday and have gone back on Sunday and still none where available in the room. I asked again and waited for them; this time I was given the correct size. My loved one stores her soiled clothes hidden in drawers and stuffed behind her bed. She attempts to wash her clothes in the sink because it's embarrassing for her when she soils her clothes or bedding because she has no supplies, I have had to ask for toilet paper. This place ignores patients calls for help for long periods of time. My loved room partner called for help several times; the help light was flashing above the door. An outside health worker (that was visiting my loved one) went seeking help down the hall at the nurse's station, however no one was around, in the meantime the patient began to get up (wheelchair dependent). After a while I went to seek help, no one was in the hall. After some time, I saw a staff member walk passed the room I went out to tell her, and she said I'll be in in a minute. I had told her the patient had got out of the bed. She enters the room telling the patient she should not be out of bed on her own. This was very concerning to me because the patient had time to pull herself up out of bed and was holding on to her dining tray. 15-20 may not sound like much time but she could have fallen and hurt herself seriously. Not addressing or forgetting to assist patients' needs is unacceptable. I have had to ask for OTC pain medicine (topical) for my loved one and have applied it myself because my loved one was forgotten or staff had not had the time to address the request, my longest wait was an hour and a half, too long. This is just a few of the reason why patients' well-beings are being compromised. You have to be an on-site advocate for your loved one to get any help. I feel sorry for patients who have no one to advocate for them while they are in this place. THINK TWICE BEFORE PUTTING YOUR LOVED ONE IN THIS INSTITUTION. Treating every person with respect, compassion, and empathy, recognizing their inherent worth, autonomy, and individuality, regardless of health status, age, or dependency level is NOT happening with my loved one and other patients at the institution.

The nursing team is very stable with the same team daily, so they get to know their patient very well a know their needs and likes. The most important things in a rehab building is Staffing and Therapy, Prairie Lakes has both. The Executive Director Holly is very involved in the facility with Nursing, Rehab, Assisted Living and a beautiful Memory Care. The building physician is Dr Tetrick, he has been with the building since it opened, he see's every patient himself and he has James a very experienced NP. Just a well oiled building! After I returned from the hospital that person went AWOL and after two days of being unable to reach her, I was starting to panic. My daughter, who had been there thru my surgery was flying out in less than 30 hours. A friend saw my daughter's post about being in dire need of assistance. This was on a Friday night of all things. Denise Moore came to the rescue with her team. Her caregiver was there early Sunday morning to go over all of my care prior to my daughter's departure. Over the next several days three very professional ladies came and took care of me. They fixed my food, tidied the house, did laundry, changed sheets and even drove me to my post-op appointment. The care, kindness and professionalism was truly wonderful. The fact that they were willing to step in at nearly the 11th hour, in my time of need...I will be forever grateful.

I get several weekly visits from nurses. And aides which include supplies and getting medicines. I am given baths,washings. The staff works with us to fit our schedule too. My wife who was having to deal with so much by figuring it out on her own is greatly relieved to have this staff offering direction, providing materials and services...she would probably give them an even higher rating. I like that they come to my home and l feel comfortable asking their opinions. It is nice not having to worry about getting bed sores or other items that can become serious if not monitored. Low rating applies to operations outside of medical staff. Room cleaning only happened when it was requested. No fault of cleaning personnel, they were severely short staffed. Food was decent but getting the order correct happened about 50% of the time. Procurement failed to order correct products, such as briefs that fit. Thank god for Amazon. At home medical equipment was not ordered in time for discharge, caused additional expense and a bad experience. Overall the health related goals were met and went home improved, so if you can deal with the other stuff, might be a good fit.

The medication lasted 9 days after which the pain started to return. I called them on day 13 to have them renew my prescription or get me another that would eliminate my pain. I was told that their policy was they would only prescribe a new medication within 9 days of being seen and I would have to come back and pay another $179 to address my issue. My prescription didn't run out until 9 days passed! They also said my NP who prescribed my medication was off that day and and another attending would not write a script without seeing me first for another $179. What... I guess the other attending couldn't read my file, or even make a phone call to the NP??? This place is nothing but a money grab, forget being cared for like they care about you, it's all about the money!!!!!

He was very thorough and efficient and listened to what I had to say and answered my many questions. He even has a good sense of humor, which is rare for doctors. He did not act like he was in a hurry and just wanted to get me out of the office like most of them do. He encouraged me to call or come back if I had any problems at all. Very good experience here. I would highly recommend it.
