A real BARBER, and a vrais-Cajun one at that! Mr. Guillot does traditional haircuts of all styles. He offers other typical "barber" services, too. Women't haircuts, too. Ervin is quite a genuine "characteur" and a real Cajun, from Pierre Part, Louisiana, on the eastern edges of our great Atchafalaya Swamp. He has at least one corny joke per customer. He remembers your name and your preferences in haircuts. Local sports events are shown on large TV's, but there is no cocktail bar or pedicurist. He did not say hello or even acknowledge me. After standing there like an idiot, I sat down in a chair to wait my turn. And sat and sat, for at least 10+ minutes. Only three of us in the room, the barber talking to his customer and not even looking at me. I checked all my emails, looked at the news on my phone, still not even a hello or I'll be right with you. I stood up slowly, walked toward the door, opened the door to leave expecting at least a look in my direction. NOPE! I got in my car and left. You can't give a good haircut review if you don't get a haircut!

I mean I'm cheap I had one 2 weeks ago I'm fine. But my buddies felt otherwise they fired me up saying I needed a cut ASAP so they convince me and I chose a shop randomly. And I may have had my best experience at mirage barber shop. The couches were very deep and comfy I almost fell asleep. The door was open and the forecast had a light drizzle that day. Perfect barber shop atmosphere. I call d ahead to see how long the wait was which wasn't too bad I was next in line( they don't do appointments by the way, but you can call to see how many people are waiting) so I waited maybe 20 minutes and the barber and some buddies were talking and I just felt so comfortable and relaxed there with their laughter and foreign language filling the room. Now onto the haircut, I popped in the seat showed him a pic of what I wanted and mans went right to work. I don't remember his name, but my barber knew exactly what he was doing. I have medium length hair and like it styled a certain way and he blew my expectations right out the door. The best part of the cut was the beard lineup. Now I don't have much facial hair so just a nice clean up was what I was expecting. But somehow some way this man works magic with the straight razor you can tell by the pic and video I posted. I was shocked I had a nice looking scruff that was lined up. I happily tipped him as much as I could. And I made a new friend and a permeant haircut place anytime I'm in New Orleans it anytime someone asked me about a place for a haircut in New Orleans.
