The warm blankets are da bomb. Every nurse was caring and sensitive. They followed up closer to insure I didn't have any reactions. I know that the quality of care is exceptional. Anyone who is receiving care is well taken care of. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

1 December 2020…read more Facing reality! I delayed writing this review partly because I didn't want to accept the reality. However, the team here has been tremendous during my mother's care so I think it is important to share the experience. From the moment you walk into the building the lady at the entry desk ensures that you are wearing a mask, check your temperature, and sanitize your hands prior to proceeding (this is all important because of the vulnerability of the patients who visit this facility). She also helps you find whichever office you are going to, and even walks you there. Once inside, the receptionists at the front greet us warmly and even remember my mother by name! Not too long after checking in, the nurse comes out to get you. I suppose one additional person per patient is allowed back because I have always been welcomed back to accompany my mother without any issues. The nurses are caring and are gentle when checking you. They inform you of your vitals and ask questions without being condescending. Dr. Choy is thorough but, sometimes he talks so fast you have to ask him to repeat himself or slow down. He explains every aspect of the treatment plan in great detail but tells you not to worry about remembering all the medical terms since he gives you a printout of everything he covers afterwards. I like that they work closely with all the other speciality doctors in the network, related to a specific illness. This allows them to easily view patient's health record and see the other doctor's recommendations. It also allows the receptionists to deconflict appointments. There is a parking garage on the facility but, there is a fee for parking (hence why I gave 4 stars instead of the full 5). Like a previous reviewer mentioned, it is best to just park at Pearlridge Mall and walk over. There is always plenty parking, it's an easy walk, and best of all, parking is free.

Updated review: since it's been 2 years under treatment for lymphoma now, I have a good idea about…read morethis docs abilities. As a retired doc myself I'm picky. She is up on the latest research and is actually open to some of the alternative things to help you get through radiation treatment--which is her specialty; Radiation Oncology. She was the only doc who agreed to follow my research, a lower dose radiation, as the regular dosing would have crippled me for LIFE and I'm still surfer-girl active in my 70's. That was a NO-go. She listened, agreed, and we tried it. I went into remission but it returned and now I need something else to try and get it to DIE, as in KILL its stem cells. Stem cells don't die from chemo OR radiation and stem cells from cancer stay, and regenerate the damn cancer so it keeps coming back. I want to try some things to starve it, take away its metabolic FOOD, and try and starve it out and kill it. She has read up on this newer form of alternative complementary treatment, and is referring me on to other docs for other approaches besides radiation...and she LISTENED, really listened, shared her knowledge, was patient and went over scans in detail with me as a professional courtesy---and that is RARE today in overbooked offices! She is young, knows her stuff, is open to complementary medicine, is KIND, and... what more could you ask for in a radiation oncologist????? aloha

She was my radiation oncologist the first time I needed radiation and is my physician now since I needed radiation again. She went over my radiation plan very carefully with me and explained things in easy terms for me to understand. I highly recommend seeing her and the Cancer Center as well. ******** Dr. Speirs is great She is compassionate And very caring

I first met Dr. Yee at my grandmothers' referral visit from her family physician. She had been…read morediagnosed with cancer. Dr. Yee said he would schedule for a biopsy to be done and that he would be in touch. A week went by, no call from his office. She was in so much pain, we had her admitted to the hospital through emergency. Three days after she was in the hospital, we were contacted by another facility to schedule a biopsy, it was not Dr. Yees' office. My grandmother already had the biopsy the day after being admitted. She stayed in the hospital for 4 weeks, enduring multiple surgeries and treatments that resulted in her death. Still, no call or visit from Dr. Yee. Even when we requested through various nurses, counselors and surgeons to have him pay us and my grandmother a visit, he never showed up. Almost a month later after she died, the Cancer Center of Hawaii called to let my grandmother know her prescription ordered by Dr. Yee was ready for pick up. CLEARLY a physician who lacks communication with his patients and their family members and the facilities that try to support his recommendations. When someone is diagnosed with cancer, they need an Oncologist who will be with them every step of the way. Communication is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT with the patient and their caregivers. Dr. Yees' complete lack of presence, support, and communication led me to post this review. Dr. Yee, you need to reconsider your path.
