AAA Zero Rating Scenes of Chaos + Disorder Tapes preventing your entry or exit are truly bizarre and confusing, leaving cars to head straight for you coming down the wrong sode of the road because the lack of managerial skills here are on display for themselves. I have never seen anything so awkward in my entire life. You are not the only hotel on the planet with a road, but you are the king of chaos. AAA deals with roads. And check oit these roads. The Incompetence on display here speaks for itself. its as if though PUNKED show on MTV was tasked with blocking path of hotel guests walking into and out of the hotel. Blocked. Driving into and out of the property. No guides - no signs - noexplanations. Clearly the staff in charge of this has no idea what rhey are doing, posing a significant liability to the safety of guests. AAA would be wise to know this is not even basic competence. Who is minding the store here ? Who !? Did everyone just walk off their job ? This is the horror show greeting a AAA hotel guest ? AAA Hotel Ratings brining in folks would be wise to take a look at thesw scenes of chaos and disprder with no managerial oversight. All this random tape everywhere is like a mad demented clown were tasked with causing chaos and discomfort to guests. iIt is a chaotic scene reserved for clowns at a 3 rimg circus. Not for a hotel of class and competemce. See a single staff member here guiding you ? No. See any signs saying what is going on pr procidong guidance ? No. None. As if though someone who was fired, deliberately caused chaos, and walked off the job. This is hell on earth. You feel like a mouse in a maze. cant go left. cant go right. cars driving in opposite side the road veering on to you for a head on collission. Astoundingly bizarre and findamentally disappointing. This is mot how you run a hotel. This hotels chaotic scenes are puzzling and unacceptable. Very clearly the management is in need of being replaced. These scenes of chaos add to no ones enjoyment during their stay and serve to discourage any and all future visits. Take a good look. If this clown show is what you want for your special stay. Our son's wedding was there 5/25/25 and we were disappointed in the reception. A lot of the servers were horrible, they looked as if they did not know what to do OR just did not care. The Barista basically told the guest it was a make your own coffee - he poured the coffee and the guest had to add their own syrup to create what they wanted. The desert table had a 4 tier cheese cake displayed as well as other desserts. At least 3 people that I found out later when they asked if they could have a piece was told no they were not going to cut into it until a lot of the other desserts had been taken. The food was subpar, very disappointing. Most of these things I did not know about until after the wedding. Believe me I would of gone up to the employees or found a manager and gave them an ear full. I have already told a friend who had planned to have her God Daughter's wedding there she should think twice. Its a beautiful place for pictures but comes with a lot of disappointment and a high $$$ cost. When my wife returned a rented cake plate back to the Bakery she was told that St. John's was recently bought out in the past year or so and has been dumping a lot of their funds, effort and plans into revamping the golf course and unfortunately the wedding venues has fallen to the way side. I just wish we knew this before my son and his wife booked their event there. VERY VERY SAD. I do not recommend St John's for any ones wedding. read more

The rolls were ice cold. Dinner was supposed to be over at 8:30 which is when we got our entrees. Glasses were never taken off table. The bar ran OUT OF GLASSES and they wanted you to bring your old glass back to be reused. I was going to take an unused water from our table but I noticed a smear which was on the inside of the glass. Gross. I have never been at an event where glassware wasn't removed from the table or having someone bring a carafe around to fill water glasses.The food was okay ( one person at the table said her dessert 'wasn't terrible' )but the service (outside of bartenders) was subpar. Oh and the person at the table with a nut allergy got walnuts on her salad when her place card had allergy on it. That is inexcusable and is totally on management and they way dinner service is run. This was a Holiday Party that they spend a lot of money on every year and it was disappointing. read more

Our son's wedding was there this past weekend and we were not impressed at all. Great place for photos but the reception left MUCH to be desired. The food was subpar; the wait staff just stood around. I don't know if they were new and inexperienced, but it was not good. They didn't clear plates from table in a timely manner. At one time my daughter had 4 dirty plates sitting in front of her. The desert table was not kept full for the guest. The bride and groom had a 4 tier cheesecake they purchased on the desert table and at least 2 people my sister and a very good friend asked for a piece and was told they could not cut it until all of the other deserts were eaten. The lines for the food stations were ridicules, there should have been someone directing the guest telling them that there were multiple stations to go to. My son even saw trays with no food and asked why? The kids meals were not served I know we will not be recommending St. John's to anyone. read more

The Cardinal was a nice looking course, but not very difficult/challenging and certainly not worth the fees charged. Green speeds were what you'd find on an average muni. Bunkers were in great shape. Many of the fairways were quite straight. The course is well manicured and pace of play was good. The resort and course staff were helpful and friendly. I just expected a more challenging course for what was charged. I would not return a second time. read more

Played the new Cardinal course today and it was disappointing. Booked a tee time in advance for three women. When we arrived I asked not to be paired with anyone else since the course was not fully booked. The golf shop manager said NO and that a guy had just booked a tee time to play. The two tee times in front of ours each had only two guys in them. Play was miserably slow, like 22-25 minutes per hole!!! It took over 3 hours to play the front nine. We left after13 holes and had to listen to an old guy give us unsolicited golf advice the whole time. We are avid golfers and will NOT return. This course charged $175 per round for a terrible experience. read more

We hosted our Holiday office party at this "resort " and the food was disgusting. Seems they reheated 1/4 inch frozen steaks and passed them off as New York strips that resembled shoe leather and black in color. baskets of bread = cold hockey pucks and the "fresh vegetables " not fresh. This place is probably good for golf and that's it. If you're planning an event, steer clear or be very disappointed. Not recommended. read more

The course is something out of a Norman Rockwell painting. Your taken in by the beauty and detail they have on the course. I was so happy the moment I pulled into the course entrance because this is my favorite place to play in the Detroit metro area. The staff in the pro shop are always top shelf and you can't help leaving with a smile. They honestly treat you like you own the place. The course is in great shape and clubhouse is well kept and very modern. Comfortable in every way you could imagine. White glove clean from top to bottom. If your looking for a great golf experience or just and place to go and have a good meal with amazing views try out St. John's. read more

Go for golf and stay a couple days! Just tell the wife you're out of town on business. I met up here with a couple of friends for a round. I wasn't sure if I was golfing, going to a banquet, or attending a meeting. This place is laid out extremely well. The pro shop is hidden just off the corner, follow the signs. The course played fairly easy(depending on your skill level). I am not a golfer, I just love to golf when I get a chance. There's a few water holes(lot) to avoid getting your balls wet. Great course for the area. I see this as a nice place to have a conference and golf outing for workers to team build. It's all in one location. People can come from out-of-town to enjoy as well. This looks like it could be a good location for a wedding reception as well(one more child to go). The golf is worth the admission. The scenery is prettty good too. Note to self: Leave clubs in car just in case my buddys call again. read more

Today, men of the cloth can still be seen walking -- or riding through St. John's new layout. But St. John's mostly sees a heavy amount of league and outing play featuring blue-collar men of the mullet and jean short instead. "This course sets up well for leagues and outings especially," said Jim Gatza, director of golf at St. John's. "You don't beat yourself up ? it's a shorter course to play and has three different nines. One nine is more open, one is open with some woods and the other goes right through the woods." Despite three nines all built in different decades, each has an old-school charm and each plays short compared to modern standards. St. John's Luke Course plays longest at 3,229 yards from the back tees, while the Mark Course and Matthew Course play slightly less than 3,000 each. Fairways are narrow and trees are a force on most drives. Par 5s at St. John's are salivating especially the "Luke" nine, which has three par 5s (an unusual par 37 total - Mark and Matthew are par 35) including back-to-back five-shotters. Mark, with seven wet holes has the most water, while the other nines have an occasional pond or creek. Most par 4s play less than 350 yards and no par 4 plays longer than 400, so golfers of all skills have a realistic shot at birdie on every tee box. No combination of nines is by far and away superior and ratings are all about the same. There's a 1.1 stroke difference from the easiest (Matthew/Mark: 66.9) to most difficult (Luke/Matthew: 68.0). Luke's three par 5s make it the nine most susceptible to birdies, but shooting just three over par gives you a 40. TheInnatSt.John's:Theverdict Despite its soon-to-be golf resort offerings, the course --with blind tee shots, holes where a creek crosses the fairway right about where your drive is expected to roll through -- is anything but modern resort-style. Conditions are solid but not outstanding. You can't tell which greens are any older or newer than each other, which is praise for the maintenance crew. But the true flavor of St. John's is in its sacred history and knowing hundreds of young men of faith took a break from their Bible studies for a quick round just outside their dorm. read more

Like many golf courses in metro-Detroit this facility is usually packed. Due to this I always call ahead to check on league times or events. The female manager that runs the shop is GOD AWFUL. Two times in the last month I've called ahead and she has screwed me over. On one occasion I called and asked when twilight starts that night (5:30) I show up to find out they have leagues taking up the whole course. Today I called, asked about twilight time, and inquired about leagues, she said 5:30 and the leagues are over. I show up and she says the whole course is occupied by an outing. Seriously if you don't like your job, just quit! Now the one time I got out on his course, I will admit it is quite neat and very well maintained. But due to the crappy customer service I will chose other locations like Fox hills, moose ridge or brae burn. read more

What a gem of a golf course. The course is beautiful and well maintained. The staff was very helpful and accommodating to me as it was my first time playing there. The only reason I did not rate it five stars is that the bunkers were a bit hard packed rather than sandy. I will definitely be playing here again. read more

Attended a work conference, great venue and food served. The grounds are beautiful and the history of the place is quite unique.

Not a bad course at all. Offers a variety of hole layouts between the three 9 hole courses. Par 4s are not overly long and can be reachable by longer hitters. Added bonus of Carl's golfland sharing the parking lot. read more

I have played here many times in the past, they seem to have been raising the price a lot in the last 5 years to the point that I believe this is extremely over priced for the course. The course is maybe a little above average but is priced much too high. I went to play a round at 5:00 on a weekday and not only would they not give me the twilight price, but they also said I could only play 9 holes because carts needed to be in by 7:30, I asked if I could play a few extra holes if I got done before 7:30 and was told no before I could even finish my sentence. The price for 9 holes was going to be $25, I could have gone not even a mile down the road and played Northville Hills (a much nicer course) for less than that! Overall the prices are comparable to Northville Hills, but the course isn't anywhere near as nice. read more
