Carla and Linda's food tour was a blast and full of historical facts and local eateries in Oceanside. A variety of cuisines and they were able to accommodate a bunch of random dietary restrictions amoung a group of 20! I would definitely do this again.

Professional & Accommodating!!! Walking Food Tour was Pire Awesome Sauce!! Thank you Linda!!!. Food selections were amazing and since we were celebrating a birthday everyone was super kind. Words cannot express the fun we had yesterday. It was truly an adventure filled with love and passion by Linda and Carla. Our group was 13, which was big, however, it felt small and intimate. The restaurants we visited were locally owned and we got to meet the owners and chefs! How fun! Our taste buds were tickled by outstanding treats from each of the 5 restaurants. HIGHLY recommended! We were so full when we were done and the people on our tour were so fun! DO THIS!! Banana Dang Banana oat milk latte Ryes and Grind Corned beef Ruben Flying pig Panko crusted durok pork chop with beet purée, pickled onions and Serrano and micro greens Orfila winery Flatbreads: mushroom, prosciutto, chicken pesto Allmine Butcher block pizza Verde pizza

Carla & Linda's Walking Tour or it's alter ego: shoesandchews really should be called Substance & Soul because you get lots of food for your body and fuel for your soul! Went on a 3-hour walking/food tour of Oceanside with these lovely ladies last week and we learned so much about this up and coming beachside town. We officially visited a total of four (4) different restaurants: Ofelia; Switchboard, Petite Madeline & Benitos (not in order!) and even had a nice little surprise/treat at Banana Dang. (Note that they have different tours and their tours change, so don't be surprise if you go to other sites-- the City is definitely growing and there's so much to do!) The food was delicious and portions were hearty! Appreciated the Chefs' intros to all their dishes and history behind the places-- Thank you owners/chefs for your hospitality! Don't want to spoil all the fun, but we also got to stop by some neat cultural/art hotspots around town and even saw an [extended] family of ducks climbing out of their nests-- it really was a clown car! BTW: The reviews are true- they do know everyone! :-) which is great because you know you're getting the real-deal with Carla & Linda. They do love their town, the people and want their guests to enjoy their visit too and they manage to do just that and more in just 3-hours! This truly was a all-encompassing tour with knowledgeable guides, good food and history. Can't wait to try their other ventures!

wonderful Hosts and lots of Great information! exploration of casual dining spots in s Oceanside And recommmendations for other places to visit.

Albert led us to several places less traveled by tourists and sampled many different foods. The fresh mango with lime and chile at the open-air market was refreshing along with the coconut water we purchased that was cut right in front of you. We sampled various flavored nuts and chili gummies at one stop. We also had fish ceviche tostadas, grilled marlin tacos, carne asada tacos with handmade tortillas that were amazing. Finishing up the tour we had agua frescas, authentic Baja-style fried fish tacos, and freshly-made churros. Walking to our next stop always helped with our full bellies. Come hungry to this tour because the portions are not skimpy. Wear good walking shoes as the sidewalks are often uneven. I felt this was a fast paced walking tour but he did ensure everyone kept up and would slow or stop for those behind. Overall this was a fun and delicious tour. Albert kept us engaged in wanting us to taste the local flavors that Tijuana had to offer. We were able to explore neighborhoods we most likely not have traveled thru on our own. Albert also accompanied us back to the border at the conclusion of the tour. He's so accommodating and was patient with all our questions. Take a tour with Albert!

After a quick and easy walk through customs, Uncle Jose met us right across the street and got the day started smoothly. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel comfortable right away. He guided us through a mix of local shops and restaurants, then gave us the flexibility to visit the spots we specifically wanted. We made our way to Puerto Nuevo for lobster, which absolutely lived up to the hype, and of course stopped at Restaurante Caesar's--the birthplace of the Caesar salad--which was a highlight of the trip. Uncle Jose took great care of us throughout the day and made the experience easy and enjoyable. If you are able to walk across the border and walk back or take a $10 shuttle back into the US, ask for Uncle Jose a warm and knowledgeable local that will take great care of you. Highly recommended if you're looking for a fun, safe and stress-free Baja adventure!

He was always ready with helpful tips, local recommendations, and a warm smile--not just for us, but for everyone we came across. He went above and beyond in so many ways: arranging an extra driver to help with our luggage, assisting with last-minute errands, and even being our unofficial group photographer before events. Traveling somewhere unfamiliar can be a little nerve-wracking, but knowing West would be there to drop us off and pick us up made us feel so much more comfortable. Amazing! TastePro is a dining adventure that transformed our date night! Our first TastePro tour…read more(and I say first, because there will be more!) was the North park Deluxe 4-Stop Tour. It is ALOT of food (and one stop was just cocktails!). You won't go hungry. We highly recommend giving TastePro a try! The Detailed Review: TastePro is a year-around version of restaurant week. You book a tour, which includes a prefixed menu and multiple reservations. I note reservation, because the full-service stops, don't want to loose a table during the dinner rush. For our North Park Tour (on a Saturday), Encontro required we arrive before 6PM or after 8:30PM. The other 3 stops didn't have time restrictions allowing us to swing by at any time. Each restaurant has a prefixed tasting menu that you should review when booking. The restaurants on our tour didn't have a printed "TastePro" menu, so I recommend knowing what you want before or having the menu page readily available on your phone. ProTip: Half way though I took screenshots of the prefixed menus. It was easier than scrolling and switching between screens. When we arrived at our fist stop, we told the hostess we were here for a TastePro tour. She looked at us confused (we were worried for a hot second) but she asked a more experienced co-worker who knew how to handle our reservation. We shared our email confirmation (date and party size) and a photo ID that matches the name on the reservation. We had zero hiccups, just a note that you may need to talk to a seasoned employee as this is a newer service. We were quickly seated and ordered our tasting meal. Our reservation included drinks (you can preorder 1 drink per individual) at an incredible value. Our preordered wine allowed us to select any glass of wine on the menu. The food was amazing. At Encontro we had the Hot Fresh Bread, Mini Corndog, Portobello Fries, & Crispy green beans; at 619 Spirits, we each ordered a flight of cocktails; at Crazee Burger, the Pastrami Slider with a side of Onion Rings & the Caesar salad with a side of sweet potato fries; at Figaro Dessert Cafe, the Signature House made Nutella Crepe *OMG*, and two scoops of Gelato. SO MUCH FOOD. And did I mention it was all amazing? After enjoying your meal, you just get up and leave. It was a strange feeling to leave a full service restaurant without paying (you already paid!). At the same time, prepaying was freeing and makes visiting multiple restaurants a breeze! In Summary, TastePro is provides an incredible dining adventure at an extraordinary value (how often can you put put those words in the same sentence!?!). My fiancee and I were over the moon with our TastePro experience and highly recommend to anyone who loves great food and is looking for a new adventure. Cheers!

Yet we must choose each step we take with utmost caution, for the footprints we leave behind are as important as the path we will follow. They're part of the same journey -- our story." ― Lori R. Lopez, Dance Of The Chupacabras What an amazing event this was! OC Meets Napa and Baja, presented by Community Health Center AltaMed, brought primarily Latino-centric restaurants and chefs in Orange County and Latino-owned wineries in Napa and Baja together in a celebration of culture. Proceeds from all the ticket sales went toward supporting the Orange County health services and programs that AltaMed spearheads in underserved communities. When I was Housing Manager for the City of Huntington Beach, I funded Alta Med through the City's CDBG program and am very knowledgable about the great services they provide especially in a country that still has an imperfect and expensive healthcare system. What was cool about this event was actually seeing, meeting and talking to the chefs/winemakers. These are the people who chose their path, who chose their own story. The passion from chefs such as Beto Ygei from 930 Sushi (excellent spicy yellowtail), Carlos Selgado of Taco Maria (wonderful scallop here), Gabbi Patrick (I think they did a scallop dish too), Rogelio Martinez of Casa Oaxaca (so excited was he about his sorbets and ice cream), and winemakers such as Alex, Oscar and Lola Llamas (best wines at event and great people too who invited us to hang out afterwards). This is the type of event that I love to attend and is only second to the San Jose Jazz Festival as favorite yelp events of this kind that I was lucky enough to get tickets from Yelp. Was disappointed in the Baja wines as there was little balance or flavor with those wines, and a lot of rustic smells and astrigent finishes. However given that when traveling the local wines always taste better when you are visiting their area (Cinque Terre was an example of this where the wines are fabulous only when you are outdoors on a patio with a great view eating a sublime pesto dish in Italy), I will visit Baja soon and visit the better wineries on their home turf ;-) Thanks again Yelp for this event! It was warm and muggy but there was plenty of food and drink for all the guests to enjoy. There were plenty of Napa and Baja wine vendors pouring wine throughout the event along with restaurants from LA, OC, and Baja. Some of my favorite food vendors were Anepalco's Cafe, Taco Maria, Gabbi's Mexican Kitchen, and Deckman's en el Mogor. Wine was definitely plentiful as was the food. There was a wine wheel that you could spin for $20, which went to the Women in Action charity and in turn you won a wine bottle valued anywhere from $40 to $80. I won an $80 bottle of wine. It was pretty awesome. There were tables for all the guests to lounge and mingle at. The event was held at Mission San Juan Capistrano which I had never visited before. We were allowed to walk around the exhibits while the Mission was closed to the public. Pretty cool. Thanks to Yelp OC for the tickets. My +1 and I had a great time.
