I always looooove going to the Carlsbad flower fields every Spring. This year I went with my dad and we had a blast!! The flowers are gorgeous! Just fields and fields of beautiful flowers. We took the tractor ride which took us all around the fields. They also have different little sectioned cut outs in the fields to take pictures and walk in the flowers. Please do not go over the tape and trample the flowers, there are literally spots designated to walk in the flowers and take photos without hurting them. We also went inside the butterfly room! That was soooo fun :))) We had lots of butterflies land on us and fly around. It's $8 per person but I recommend it! They also have many different snack options, a sweet pea maze, and an inside orchid exhibit. Lots of things to do whether you're a kiddo or an adult! They also had field trips with elementary school kiddos while we were there. So cool that they have programs for kiddos to learn more about plants and agriculture :) Parking- There's plenty of parking. If the lot gets full, the outlet mall is next door and has more parking. First time coming here and wanted to take some beautiful shots of my girlfriend. We found parking after fighting for it and we walked over to the entrance. We had a booked timeslot in advance, around 1PM, and we walked in there was a good amount of crowds inside. I was really impressed by the organization of this place. The people here on the day we came are pretty respectful of everyone's time. I offered to take people's photos and they reciprocated back. It was pretty great despite the super hot weather. PS DEFINITELY BRING AN UMBRELLA!!! I'm so glad I did. Hats can be good too but I feel like it could be inconvenient if you want to take pics of your face in clear view. Once you walk up to the fields, you can immediately line up to which bench you want to take pics at or do some of your own shots. Plentyyy of space to do so, no need to worry on people showing up in your photos up there in the fields. I think the statues and included photo-ops are a delight for some, but wasn't a must for us to take pics at. Only taking off a star rating because I find the prices for the tickets a bit costly but the flowers are very well-maintained and taken care of. One side of the flower fields were much more bloomed than the other side. I'm pretty glad we took pics at the more bloomed side. Great one of a kind experience!!! Extra activities to do include a tractor ride (looks like it's treated like a train station where you get dropped off in certain areas of the fields) and I saw a butterfly exhibit but you have to pay extra for and line up at. Such a waste of time! Do not waste your money here. We paid $27 each to get a worst view than we get from the freeway. You can't actually walk through the fields, and non are the flowers diverse. It was the same flowers just different colors. This was such a disappointment. The wagon ride was $7, the blueberry picking was $7, nothing worth a damn was free. $34 to ride around flowers that are free to drive past, again, way prettier from the freeway. The Flower Fields is one of those iconic must-visit spots in Carlsbad. Flower season is in the spring, so there's only a few months in a year where people can visit. Although tickets weren't the cheapest at $27 per adult, I thought it was well worth it. There's so much to see! With live music, flowers everywhere, a sweet pea maze, glass sculpture garden, orchid green house, and a massive field with rows and rows of ranunculus flowers, it took me a few hours to explore everything. The sunflower field are to the far right of the fields and was walkable. The tractor ride and butterfly encounter are a separate cost. If walking long distances is a concern, the tractor ride for $8 per person is a great option. Socal's most beautiful flower farm! Located about a half mile from the 5 freeway in Carlsbad, on a little hill where the colorful flowers pop, and from the top have ocean views, it is always worth a visit. This time, a friend and I planned a tea day. 3 days a years (I believe all Saturdays), they offer high tea in the barn. This is an elevated ticket that must be purchased in advance but does include your entry to the flower fields. These tickets always sell out! At first we thought it was a bit pricey, but after spending the day at field, it was more than worth it. A visit to any local tea house is in the range of $50-$75 plus tip and tax & can even go up from there. The flower fields entry is $27. So, for $100, it felt like a steal! First off, the Tea experience was wonderful. It was definitely more casual with less people dressing up. It was very well organized! The staff was fantastic and very attentive. The tables were beautifully set with matching tea sets. Keep in mind, a local tea house is the partner and brings in all the table settings, food, and staff for the event. We would definitely do this again! We left the sitting satisfied, but the portions could have been a bit bigger. (Ie: and extra sandwich and/or scones per person) After a lovely meal, we spent hours in the fields. First up, a tractor ride ($8 ticket). I had never done this before and it's an absolute must. Why? The fields are way bigger than I thought. Without the tractor ride, we never would have seen the sunflowers or found out they have Monday blueberry picking. There is also live entertainment, food vendors, items for purchase, butterfly farm (extra $8 ticket), and the list goes on. So many picture perfect spots! By far, this was my best experience at the fields as my friend and I spend about 6 hours total. I really love the Flower Fields at Carlsbad. They have ample parking spots. The staff are very sweet, friendly and genuinely warm. Once I arrive at this place, I feel that I am walking in a magic land surrounded by breathtaking and colorful flowers. It is endless beauty. The field is about fifty acres. . The visit usually starts in the beginning of March and ends on the second week of May. We purchased our tickets online. It included wagon rides and parking. The ticket for the butterfly encounter was not included. You will find many nice food vendors around if you are hungry. There were pizza place, hotdog, tacos, burritos, cotton candy, ice cream, popcorn and more. There are also numerous seating around the field if you are tired. This place is magical! The flowers are just amazing like walking through a rainbow so many rows and rows and they just go for days and days... I went on a Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM and it was perfect time. I spent about four hours there walking around looking at all the really cool displays going in with the butterfly habitat just sitting and listening to the birds. There's a lot of little benches everywhere you can go and sit and then I got on the tractor ride that was eight dollars and worth it because they take you kind of far up the farm to see the sunflower fields and you can get off and get back on and there was a field of lavender. It's just beautiful. Highly recommend going here and just taking pictures walking around and just taking in the day. You can also see the ocean from the flower fields as well. It's just kind of hard to explain how beautiful it is. When you leave, you also go through a giant nursery, and you can buy flowers for the way home! read more

It's a huge field of flowers! 55 acres of rows of different colors of ranunculus flowers to be exact. It's definitely a San Diego spring staple. The window of opening is small. March-early May. Put it on your calendar because that time goes fast and then it's closed. Besides the flowers there are other attractions like a butterfly pavilion, maze, and food stands. If you want a quiet time to relax by looking at a beautiful field of flowers you won't get that experience, at least not on a weekend. The weekend is busy with lots of visitors which can be fun but it's also a rough time to find parking and it can get overwhelming with all the people focused so intently on Instagram photos and not respecting the boundary ropes set up. There are a couple of places where you can go further in the fields to get that photo that makes you look like you are in the middle of the field but those tended to have a bit of a line. read more

Such a beautiful place. Yes, it can get very crowded, but that's to be expected since the season doesn't last all year. I know so many long time SD residents who've never been. You should go! I've been there on a weekend and parking can be tough. They have a new paid parking option that gets you in the back way. Might be worth it if you don't want the hassle of fighting for a parking spot. Go during the week if you can. Parking is easier and lines for photo ops are shorter. Pay the extra $8 for the tractor ride. It loops around and you can hop on and off at every stop. We rode around a complete loop just before we ended our visit. A recording plays that gives you the history of the farm. The flowers were absolute beautiful. The ranunculus were so vibrant. There is also a sunflower patch. There's so much more than just the fields. There are poinsettia displays, a sweet pea maze, an aviary, beautiful stained glass garden, an orchid greenhouse. So much to do! read more

It's official...the flowers are in full bloom!!! It's been a minute since I visited the Carlsbad flower fields and they did not disappoint. The property has a lot to do and see beyond looking at the fields and there's sooo many photo worthy spots! They have an few tented areas with various flowers to see, there's the butterfly pavilion & tractor ride (for an extra charge), lots of seating with live music, and various food stands, ice cream and dessert! They even have an Armstrong Gardens onsite where you can buy flowers and gardening supplies. It was really hot today, but I'm happy to say the ocean breeze made it really nice and they have lots of shady areas and even have a vendor selling cute paper umbrellas. The Flower Fields in Carlsbad has been one of my favorite seasonal attractions for several years now. As the age of social media grows, The Flower Fields have adapted. Offering more Instagram-able photo-ops: a glass installation, a butterfly bench, deliberately placed back-drops. Aside from the crowds and fighting the line for a picture, the fields are still as impressive and well-maintained as ever. I'd recommend you reserve your time-slot in advance. They do offer a military discount online. Your visit would be best made earlier in the season. Flowers do start to dwindle, and the orchids go brown in the last few weeks. I wish I'd paid extra ($8) for the butterfly exhibit, but it didn't seem worth the time in line. Keep an eye on the site for the live performance schedule. Decent vendors each year. Plenty to do. The Flower Fields will keep anybody of any age entertained for hours, if you do it right. Don't forget to pack your camera and sunscreen! read more

Everything about this place would be a 5 except the price. The staff that worked there were fantastic!! So friendly, so kind, so helpful. I would come back just to visit them! The site is so beautiful and offers great pictures. It has some cute experiences for the kids, but after paying $27 to get in...they offer a cool tractor ride for another $8 /person and a butterfly experience for another $8/ person. It just seems so unrealistic to pay for well over $100 to then spend even more once inside. Pro tip: pack a picnic, bring drinks, bring an umbrella, sunscreen, and walking shoes. Make a day of it if you are going to spend the money. I'm glad I went because I've been wanting to see it and we took my daughter's senior pictures here. Loved everything about this place! Expect to spend a couple hours here and get those steps in (shoes recommended). Online only to purchase tickets. Stamp activity for little ones to go around to the stations and stamp their "passports" which they can take to the mining station once completed and receive $1 off a mining experience. $5 to sift through a tin of dirt and get a couple rocks to take home. So many different areas to take pictures and grab a seat to rest. Not overly crowded, theres a store on the way out you can purchase flowers or any planting needs. Also note there is vendors ( kettle corn, ice cream, lemonade stand, cotton candy, agua frescas, hot dogs and so much more) and seating is never ending. The Carlsbad Flower Fields were on my list of things to do vacationing. If you've seen photos online, it really does look just as vibrant in real life. We went on a Saturday and parking was easy with plenty of free spots available. Once inside, there's a lot to walk around and explore. The flower fields themselves are absolutely beautiful -- endless rows of bright ranunculus flowers that make for incredible photos. One thing I really appreciated was how they designed the fields for visitors. There are designated areas with carpet laid down so you can safely walk into certain sections of the flowers without damaging them. They also had cute photo cutouts and spots set up where you can step in and take pictures surrounded by the blooms. It's definitely a very Instagram-friendly place. There were also a lot of different things to see around the property, and if you want to spend a few hours there, it's easy to do. They had multiple food vendors, so you can grab snacks or a meal while walking around. That said, one thing that surprised me was that even though admission is already $26, several of the attractions inside cost extra. Things like the hayride and butterfly encounter require additional tickets, which made the experience feel a little nickel-and-dimey after already paying to get in. Still, the flowers themselves are stunning and really are the highlight. Walking through the fields and seeing the colors stretch across the hills is something special, especially on a sunny day. Overall, I'd say it's worth visiting at least once if you're in the area during bloom season -- just be prepared that some of the activities inside cost extra. Would I come back? The flower fields were absolutely beautiful. If you're looking for a cute spot to take pictures or have a little date, this is definitely the place. It's very easy to have a full main character moment here while posing dramatically next to flowers. One thing to know before you go: you don't actually walk through the flower fields themselves. They have designated photo-op spots around them. At first I was like "aw man," but honestly it makes sense. If everyone was walking through them the flowers would not survive us humans and our chaotic energy. Also, do yourself a favor and don't wear white shoes (or any shoes you love). You'll be walking on dirt paths and nature does not care about your shoes. I came here with my boyfriend, my sister, and my cousins and we all had a really fun time just enjoying the view and taking photos like the influencers we clearly are not. They also have a cute little shop where you can buy plants, pots, and other quirky things for your plants, which was fun to browse through. Back when I used to live in Carlsbad, I used to work directly across from these fields and this was a fun annual ritual to see the hill explode with color. It has been about 25 years since I've been to the fields and they have done a really great job of making it a destination with lots to offer, but so spaced out that you don't feel overcrowded. They have a train going around the property, but it's very easy to walk it as well. I was with somebody who had hip replacements and they did great. There are lots of cut outs in the field, meaning a space where you can walk in and take pictures and look surrounded by flowers. There are also many fun props like tractor or big chairs or vibrant Stainglass sculptures to take pictures with. There is a butterfly exhibit, lots of other beautiful flowers blooming, tons of food available to eat, and a learning center if you work with a classroom, they had a stage and had a musician performing. It looks like Santa is there in the winter. And weddings would be beautiful here. I rode the Amtrak train down to Oceanside from Los Angeles and it was super easy and totally worth it. My friends picked me up at the station, but you could very easily Uber or take a bus to get to the fields. I highly recommend it! read more

As the name suggests, this was a really nice place with huge flower fields. Plenty of flowers with various colors. You can't actually walk through the fields as they're taped off, however, there are areas where you can go a bit deeper and take a photo on a bench or a big chair, but the majority did have small lines. Remember to wear close toed shoes or some gravel might get in between your toes. The place is quite expensive at $27 per adult. With a family of six it cost $162. Once you enter there are a lot of exhibits and food stands, most of which cost extra such as the chocolate covered strawberries or butterfly area. read more

But I believe that $27 is a bit steep for what you get which is basically closer to flowers. I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but why $27 and $8? I'm not sure where those numbers came from. Maybe the CFO thought they were good numbers. Why not charge a nice even number for entry and for the butterflies? Why not $20 for flowers and $10 for butterflies? I realize water is expensive in San Diego county but I would bring my grandchildren here if the price wasn't so steep. $27 for anyone over 10 years old, $25 for seniors and $17 for anyone age 3-10. If you came for a family outing with Grandma, Grandpa and just 2 kids you're going to pay about $135. If you want to pay that much for a novelty and that's your thing the flowers are definitely pretty. read more

The butterfly encounter is a must for adults and children alike( disclosure if your kid screams and cries every time a butterfly flies past them or clinches to your leg! Then it's your cue to exit) any how there's food, shopping, and fun at this location. Definitely wear light clothes and hair up as it is dirt roads hence it's a flower field. Loveliest place on earth, seriously. Flowers bring me joy, I had a wonderful time..rhe wagon ride was awesome, the areas you can sit on benches amongst the flowers most people were respectful of the 6 minute time limit. I enjoyed the butterflies and the orchids. Great activity. read more
