Walked through over the phone the steps he would have gone through to diagnose the problem if he were here. Saved time and a trip to go get parts(checked to see if parts were still available since refrigerator was over 15 years old). Part fixed problem A whole lot cheaper by a couple of thousand dollars for a new fridge. Waited till made sure part worked and fridge got cold again(YEA!!!) 4 years ago I called on Carl to fix my dryer - then a 22 year old Kenmore - he came over two days later, fixed it, charged much less than a franchise appliance repair company, and advised me to keep this one going as long as practical as the newer ones had much more that can go wrong and did so frequently. A year later I had what turned out to be a fuse problem with the dryer, and he advised me over the phone how to get thepart and how to change it myself - simple and no charge. The dryer still works perfectly. Now my washer (a 26 year old Kenmore) is failing to complete it's various cycles. I called him today and he called back an hour later. He diagnosed the problem over the phone and is first seeking a replacement part for the dial control mechanism. I'll soon know what his results are but I have no doubt about his willingness to fix this and at a reasonable cost if at all fixable. He has been honest and helpful to me and to apparently many others if you read his 22 other reviews that yelp seems to have a problem with. I believe every word of them, as I have my own first hand experience with Carl himself. I will update this once we have a resolution, but felt moved to file this review for Carl and his business. read more

Our ice maker in our refrigerator was not making ice. Carl called me back within 10 minutes and proceeded to walk me through a simple repair ( even for me) . Following his lead, we were able to fix the problem without a service call and now our cocktails are happy for another weekend. Unfortunately the hoses were not reconnected correctly. The hot was cold & the cold was hot! Our clothes were rinsed in very hot water. Luckily my husband was able to disconnect & reconnect the hoses in the right manner. read more

I try to take the time to write an honest and fair review for all businesses at the time of service but being a business owner myself, sometimes get too busy to write one right away, But when I pulled up Carl's Appliance Repair to give his number to someone, A negative review caught my eye, I have a business with multiple washers and dryers that I cannot be without for even few hours and I certainly was worried about the cost that could incur for repair vs replacing . Deceptive pricing couldn't be farthest from the way Carl runs his business, Carl sent his contractor over to repair one of my dryers. After replacing the part in which they diagnosed the problem to be, the dryer started having the same problem within a few days. I contacted Carl and we set up a time for him to come out and look at it. He arrived promptly and took the dryer apart, and still could not get the dryer to stop sounding like a jet plane taking off. He contacted a few local competitor companies to help him trouble shoot the issue. Carl having over 25 years experience, I figured if he couldn't figupqre it out, then it wasn't worth fixing. So while Carl was asking other businesses their thoughts on the dryer, he also reached out to them for a gently used dryer. He not only picked up one, he delivered and set it up for a nominal charge. I have referred Carl's Appliace repair to several of my customers and friends and they have been extremely impressed with his professionalism, fair pricing , ability to fix the problem, timeliness and superb customer service. I was given a bill for their alleged free estimate. I believe they intentionally deceive customers. Our fridge broke, so we called Carl's because they advertise 'free estimates.' The tech verbally relayed a price to which I shook my head 'no.' I was then presented with a bill for $69.00 that stated I declined an estimate. So they are disingenuous, at the very least. read more

The ice-maker on a Kenmore refrigerator froze up. It could make ice but not dispense it. In a phone call with Carl, he suggested that I switch the breaker off and let the fridge defrost for 4-5 hours. Because the ice bin was full, it took two days to complete, but it worked. Carl could have made a service call and charged me, but he helped me over the phone for no charge. Because of that, when I have to pay for appliance repairs, Carl will be the guy.
