Wish I can give 0 stars. I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience with Jose at CarMax Ft. Myers was incredibly disappointing. My fiancé and I came in ready to purchase a vehicle with a signed PSECU AutoDraft in hand. The only complication was that the co-signer was out of state. We were repeatedly told by Jose that there was "nothing we could do" unless we financed through CarMax. He claimed their e-sign system had been down for a month and insisted our only option was to switch financing. Not wanting to give up our 5% credit union loan without exploring other options, we left and started making calls ourselves. To our surprise, another CarMax location in Naples immediately offered solutions, including remote e-signatures and even FedExing documents if needed. That was incredibly frustrating to hear after being told so definitively that there were no alternatives. It made us feel like our outside financing wasn't being respected and that we were being pushed toward CarMax financing instead. As a pregnant customer trying to secure a safe family vehicle before our baby arrives, this experience added unnecessary stress to an already emotional and time-sensitive purchase. We understand policies exist, but the lack of effort to explore solutions or advocate for us was disappointing. I hope CarMax Ft. Myers better trains its staff on available options for customers using outside financing, because no customer should have to call another location to receive the help and answers they should have been given in the first place. read more

One of the worst experiences ever at a car dealership. Assistant manager clearly suffering from "small man syndrome" stepped in and killed an opportunity to trade in a really nice vehicle for a truck. Unbelievable that he didn't even bother to check with his GM to try and accommodate me for the transaction. Returning a leased immaculate Tiguan after 39 months we opted to sell it before its last month. CarMax gave us the best quote by far. VW was playing games & low balled us- 25% below CarMax's Kelly BB offer. We had lessons to learn- 1) to sell a leased vehicle one must pay it off to obtain clear title & get best return. 2) Carmax wont accept it for sale unless title is at least 30 days old. 3). So we continued overlapping insurance n garaged it even after we received a new leased Rav-4 a month earlier than anticipated. 4) Our net reward- $6000+ better than VW's original low ball. Terrible. Scheduled a test drive Friday night for a 2019 Q50. Nice easy process to do so. Scheduled for 2pm on Sunday and arrived around 2:20. I did message the sales rep that we were running late but no response. I checked in up front and we sat down and waited. After 40 minutes of waiting went up to the desk and asked how much longer and the gentleman said about another 15 minutes and we would receive a text message from the salesman. The gentleman said we could go out and look at the car. Thankfully the car was unlocked. But dirty. Grimy spots inside and needed at least a basic wipe down (on the inside). Not mention I saw 2 ants in the vehicle. After waiting another 20 minutes, my family and I had enough and left. And to this time, I'm STILL waiting to hear from them. Big waste of time. read more

Went in to car max to see about trading in my car for an upgrade. When we arrived we went to the lot and found the Mitsubishi Outlander that I had been looking at online for a few weeks. I test drove it and it ran so smooth! I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Jeff P. He really made the car buying process so easy and quick for us! We have a 14 month old son, and he gets antsy FAST. On 11-19-2020 We went in search of a new car since our car was totaled in an accident. No one bothered us as we walked around looking at the car we thought fit our price point, mileage and make and model of what we had planned on. After seeing one that fit tight into our budget we inquired about it. The salesman Kevin was so helpful. Things are done very differently today due to covid-19 and they took every precaution necessary, wearing masks the whole time and had hand sanitizers everywhere. We test drove the car and there was a noise in the front. As soon as I mentioned this to Kevin he was right on it. Went for management and took it directly to the garage to have it looked at. It turned out one tire was a bit low on air however they did a full front end alignment just to cover all bases. The car came back noise free. Since we already had financing in place this went extremely smooth. I will definitely come back here again and do business. Lastly, they closed at 9 pm. They stayed until our paper work was complete and we were in our car before closing up for the night which ended up being close to 10 pm or a little after. They just went above and beyond their job and for that I thank them. I felt like I was given the royal treatment and after all the stress that many of us are feeling, it felt good to have some one treat you like you really mattered and they did just that. First salesman that I dealt with wasn't very knowledgeable. Fine, no big deal. 2nd salesman, however, was completely rude. Acted outright offended that I refused to buy an overpriced car. The markup was about 500 more than I could've bought brand new from the dealer with a complete warranty instead of 2 years. They do not negotiate at all. And on top of that, you will pay a much higher interest through whatever banks they use as they will tack on an additional 3-5% interest rate to fatten their already deep pockets. In good conscience I can not recommend unless you absolutely need a car and can't secure financing elsewhere. Lucky for me I have much better financing and I don't really need a car at the moment. read more

I have just one thing to say about this CarMax experience. It was the easiest auto transaction I have ever had in my life. I went online and put in my vin number, identified a few more accessories on the car and was given a price that CarMax would pay for the car. I then made an appointment to sell the car. On arrival, there is a QR code outside the door that lets the business office know you are there and to bring up your paperwork. Identified myself and was asked to wait while they looked the car over. Not only did they pay the quoted price, they gave me $200 more than the offer because I had missed an accessory. Signed a punch of papers, was handed a check, I texted a ride share and away we went to deposit the check in the bank. Sweet! I recommend at least trying the online service so that you can get a ballpark on your car. I did some research beforehand and was very pleased with what they offered. Check it out. I bought the car two hours away from where I live because I wanted to purchase a car that had hopefully not enduring damage from Hurricane Ian which hit us a few months prior. So I drove to Bradenton. I live in Cpe coral. The closest carmax is fort Myers. I've got an 2018 outback Subaru and 75k miles, it was prob time for tuneup. Wanted to talk to a mechanic about some other engine issues I was experiencing and the receptionist absolutely would not allow me to talk to anyone with questions about the engine over the phone. She said the only way I could "maybe" talk to a mechanic would be to schedule a visit. Getting a tuneup could potentially cost $2k, and I like to do stuff myself or thru friends when I can, and all I wanted to do was ask some questions to someone who knew stuff about my car or cars in general. Anyway - super disappointing and horrible customer service and I never scheduled an appointment. I almost rather go to Subaru and pay $250+ /hr for labor alone rather than deal with that chic again. Someone takes your car, takes a bunch of pictures and sends it to a senior buyer online. Someone will review it from anywhere. It's a cool, slick, and quick process. We are also buying an investment property that closes in a couple of days. So after the 30 minute wait I was excited to drive and call our insurance company to see rates. This place is a typical car dealership bunch con artists. They sold my grandma a car not even a year ago 10 months to be exact, a 2018 Nissan Versa with 27000 miles. The car was rigged just to sell, it has been NOTHING but issues, she has paid over $3000 in fixing the damages from this junk. Totally and completely took advantage of a senior citizen. She has no note on this vehicle paid in full cash up front, took the car back and they said the salesman Doug Sage has "retired' and no longer works there and there is nothing they can do. The car has been beat on by the previous owner, i don't even believe these are the original miles. $14,000 down the drain. After replacing the 02 sensor, the rear wheel bearing, and other misc issues the car officially died yesterday morning in the driveway. My initial visit was typical, the second visit there was a few major issues with my vehicle sale. But Jose and the manager Kevin quickly jumped in and got everything sorted with my mustang sale. We were told it would be very quick but took nearly 2 hours. The next day we got a call that we had a few more papers to sign and it'll be very quick... I had to leave work early and we drove over an hour there and it took nearly 2 hours again. The next day they call me again and say they forgot ANOTHER paper I had to sign... so here we are about to drive over an hour yet again to sign more papers they forgot or did wrong. I'll give CarMax four stars and not five and here's why. We traded my wife's 2015 Kia Sportage LX (lease) for a 2016 Ford Escape SE with 9k miles and only $800 down. Her payment was the same as the lease. We went back a week later and traded my 2013 Kia Optima with the tech package and panoramic roof in on a 2017 Kia Sorento LX V6 with AWD that had just over 9k miles on it. The KBB used trade-in value was $6,600 but CarMax only offered $5k for it. Similar makes and models with higher mileage we're being sold by CarMax for $10,500. I understand they need to make a profit, but if you're going to tell people "We will pay you the higher of the two offers; KBB or our appraisal" then you MUST do it! I ended up putting $1,500 in the end which absorbed some of the loss simply because I loved the Sorento and still do. It's clean and we had it brought to us from about 25 miles away at another CarMax. All things considered I would ship there again. I got a nearly brand new vehicle, V6, AWD for $8k less than new! read more

Bought my new car here with the help of Dee! We walked in to browse, and left with a Nissan Murano! Dee made the sales experience easy and pain free. When we arrived, she pointed us out to the lot to browse, while she looked at my current car to give a quote. She found us with two quotes - one from CarMax, and one from Kelly Blue Book. The Kelly Blue Book was more, but CarMax matched it! We spent some time with Dee browsing different cars. She never pressured us, but was very informative. She even looked up cars at different locations with different features for us. After a quick test drive, I left with the exact car that I thought I wanted. The entire process including selling my old car and buying my new car was stress-free and took less than 2 hours.
