I have purchased a 2017 Jeep grand Cherokee after owning the jeep for two days found out it was having transmission problems, AC problems, steeling problems, and found out later that it was involved in a whole accident were pieces of fender did not line up on the car and aftermarket parts was bought to fix the car. After owning his vehicle, I complain to Carmax about all the concerns that I had. They kept my car for two months. I only had a loaner for two weeks after that I had to pay for the loaner out of my own pocket. After getting a phone call several days later after keeping my car for months there was nothing wrong and that I could not return the vehicle in because it's been sitting on their lot for two months. with my vehicle and that my concerns I was having was issues that other have with people purchasing use vehicles. So I decided not to purchase the warranty, which that what they wanted you to do because it absolutely covers not anything on the vehicle you still owe be out of pocket so I decided to purchase a warranty call endurance endurance got the vehicle in to Christian Brothers found out the transmission was water damaged found out all four tires was bad, Brake pads was wore down to the metal rollers was scratched, and one was cracked. The AC had a moldy smell coming from it due to several leaks. I purchased this card online and didn't notice it until I've actually brought the car home, but the car was full of dog hair all in the ceiling embedded in the seat they did cover the expenses to cover that. But anything mechanical wise, they did not fix on my vehicle. I haven't even owned this vehicle for a year yet and endurance has already spent over $15,000 just replacing parts on this vehicle. That I own paid $17,000 for Yes it is still running but that is no thanks to Carmax for selling me a water damage car . Please look up under them and look up the seat. I had an extensive amount of rust under the seat and under the vehicle. I will truly say I will never purchase from any Carmax ever before because they all are Ran the same. This is my second vehicle. I have purchased from them and will most definitely be my last. I was scheduled for a 4 pm appointment. They did not have someone ready for our test drive until 4:25 p.m. The person helping us at the desk shared many microagressions towards me. Though I could tell his intent was to be friendly, the impact was loss of business. He also did not wear his mask properly. It sat below his nose, on his chin and everytime he chewed on whatever was in his mouth his mask danced up and down his face. The two younger folx who helped out were very friendly though. Paid for a car to be shipped almost 3 weeks ago. I got an email stating my car would arrive July 2. Called today, July 5, for an update since I still haven't had one. While on the phone they told me my arrival date had been changed to July 9 and even if it arrive on that date, I still probably would not be able to pick up until the following Monday. I'm having more of a hassle getting this car than what I actually wanted. They told me their process was easy and they would keep me updated during shipping which they have not done. Recently, I visited a new car dealer to check into buying a new car, but I was not satisfied with the offer on my trade-in. The salesman, I thought very helpfully, suggested that I go to CarMax because they could offer far more than the new car dealer for my existing car. From the moment that I entered the CarMax in Jackson, I found the staff to appear and act very unprofessionally. Although they appeared to check my car very carefully, I eventually concluded that it was just an act as part of the dupe! Eventually, they offered me only about 1/3 what I actually got for a trade-in at the new car dealer! My impression was that CarMax simply was taking advantage of the gullible and those with nowhere else to go - either buying or selling. I NEVER will go to CarMax for anything in the future. Do Not Buy From Carmax! I spent $100 to have a truck brought from AL to the Jackson TN store. When it arrived there was damage not shown in the pictures. 3 of the rims were scuffed up 2 of them badly. They offered to replace one of the worst ones. There was also a large scratch on the passenger rear door that was not in the pictures. Also being a former mechanic I noticed an oil leak from the timing cover, that they told me wouldn't be covered under the 5 month warranty that they had high praises about. After all of this I realized the former owner owned this truck for 1 month and returned it to carmax. And the pictures the had on their website were old pictures from before the prior purchase, because the mileage in the pictures was 4,000 miles less. All in all I'm out $100 for the transportation fee, and lots of frustration. But coming from an experienced Toyota technician, don't fall for their sales tactics. And don't pay to have a vehicle transferred, because the pictures might not be an accurate representation of what you are getting! read more

The sale person was always helpful and kept me updated on new cars etc before I decided to buy. Only lose one star due to lack of variety of vehicles on the lot. " seems like mostly suv" . We purchased a 2019 Mazda CX-9 in April of 2021 that has been in the shop a total of two months getting things fixed that we're broken on the day of purchase. Several of the parts that were broken were hidden, bumper supports glued together, rain sensing camera glued to windshield, broken rear wheel trim, plastic from front passenger side splash guard lodged in the brakes and the splash guard was missing but you couldn't see that unless you turned the wheels inward and looked up in the wheel well. We drove from Louisville Kentucky to get this car (6 hours). The repairs were to be done at the Louisville carmax free of charge. After finding all of these problems we decided we no longer wanted the car. We were told that we could make the 12 hour round trip to return it. It was not disclosed to us that we could not return it to the Louisville carmax store. This is when the nightmare really started because we were stuck between a 12 hour round trip return or get everything fixed that should have been fixed after their 100+ point inspection which in my opinion was never done. The return seemed like the best option but cars had increased in price so much so that we couldn't afford even a sedan with our refund. The car sat at carmax for a month in April/may getting "fixed". Many of the parts were unavailable at the time, not carmax's fault, until the parts finally came in and were subsequently returned by carmax to the manufacturer without even a phone call to us. After 10 months of fighting carmax to get our car fixed we will hopefully get it back approximately 1 month since we gave it to them to get the hidden things fixed that they had to order again. I don't know about all carmax locations but the one in Jackson Tennessee doesn't complete their inspections and even told me they haven't been doing as thorough of a job on them due to the pandemic. Avoid this place if you can. Of the 10 months that we have owned the car, 2 of those months we didn't have the car. Carmax offered us 2 free oil changes to compensate for our troubles. I will never step foot into a carmax again after this ordeal. They would likely strip my oil plug or oil filter mount and then I'd have to wait 2 months on that fix. Maybe you'll get lucky with your purchase but we did not. read more

Buying the car was great but service after the sale is crappy. When I went home with my car the check engine light came on as I was driving away. I took it back and they said there was nothing wrong with the engine but they needed to order a part to fix the light. They said they would call me. It took about 2 weeks, way past the 7 day return policy which I thought was convenient for Carmax. I had to call 3 times and ask if my part was in. Finally someone called back and said it was in and made me an appointment for January 20 at 11:00. I typed the day and time right into my phone reminders. The day before my appointment Carmax sent me a reminder telling me my appointment was at 10:30. I texted back and said they had made it for 11. I already had made plans to be there at 11:00 as that was the appointment I made. I got there at 11:00. There was a lady up front and I told her I was there for my 11:00 appointment. She rudely said, "Well your appointment was at 10:30." I told her they made it for 11:00 and I had saved it in my phone but they texted me a different time yesterday so I guess they just changed it without notifying me and I had already made plans to be here at 11:00. So she said just leave your key there and we'll try and get to it as soon as we can then. I said I was told they would give me a car to use if it was going to take long. She just told me to have a seat. Everyone was super nice and helpful when I bought the car. I was so impressed. I guess they were only being nice to get me to buy or maybe it's just this one associate. Her name was Zoe. I'm not sure but it leaves me with the impression that after the sell you are not so important to them anymore. I was going to keep coming here for oil changes and other service but I guess now I'll try and find a place that appreciates my business and won't talk to me like I'm an idiot. By the way, I'm still sitting here 30 minutes later and no one is telling me how long it will be. I asked Zoe again and she said she didn't know because they just took it back. I'm not an idiot. My appointment was made for 11:00. Guess they'll keep punishing me because I wasn't here at 10:30. Really bad business. This is the worst carmax in Tennessee DO NOT GET YOUR CAR FROM THEM they will sell you a car knowing that it has issues and will not tell you. They sold me a 2013 Ford Explorer with serious electrical issues and mechanical issues as well, I don't live in Jackson Tennessee so when I made my appointment to get everything looked at and checked out and fixed I had to make my appointment close to where I live which is a Germantown Tennessee they happen to be booked up so I had to make my appointment kind of far out and by the time my appointment came around they said that I was over the mileage to get my car fixed I was still within the 90 days but the mileage was over even though I had made the appointment way before the mileage went over so the service department in Germantown Tennessee said that I had to get permission from Jackson Tennessee to get it fixed because of the mileage issue when I called them they told me oh it was nothing they can do and I said that is not right because I made my appointment way before that it's not my fault they were booked up this is the worst Carmax you can go to do not come here and get your car from somewhere else or you will regret it read more
