I've waited about a month to make this review after purchasing a Ram 1500 from the Melbourne location. My review does not reflect solely on the delay I experienced due to improper submissions of paperwork and computer malfunctions that turned what should of been a 30 minute transaction into a 3 hour, but rather my experience as a whole. In an attempt to make this review concise, I will bullet point the issues I found during my experience: - Lack of transparency on exterior dings/damage/dents between online post and in person inspection that was not rectified in price adjustment or incentive - Low quality detailing/prep of interior of vehicle before purchase. Floor mats and center console of vehicle had coffee/sugary liquid remnants all over them - Computer/Submission delays that prolonged the transaction process to almost 3 times the length it should have taken Overall, I had trouble giving the review 2 stars as at the end of the day, as I feel so fortunate to be purchasing a vehicle. However, I felt as a customer spending tens of thousands of dollars that the experience should reflect that. A totally detailed interior/exterior should be commonplace in a new vehicle purchase, as well as transparency between buyer and seller when addressing exterior damages. read more

Damage to the car was promised to be repaired by a salesman, backed up by the repair shop and an additional technician on a second visit. We rented a car and delivered the car at appointment time. When we arrived to retrieve the car we were informed that the service manager refused to do the repair! He had been rude to us during our second visit which should have been a for warning but we wrote it off to "personality problems". Very disappointing experience and we've learned the hard way about CarMax, buyer beware! read more

I am 70 years old and have bought many, many vehicles on my own. I just used Carmax and I will use them every time I purchase a used vehicle. My wife has insisted I buy a new vehicle for a long, long time but I have found used vehicles work for me. Not only did Carmax make sure the car was in great condition but the smiles and help with the paperwork from the Melbourne facility made things so easy. Since I usually put over 200,000 miles on my cars it may be a while before I purchase another vehicle, but I highly recommend Carmax. read more

carmax sold my gf a 2013 Cadillac ATS premium 2.0T AWD. she bought the car for $18k 8 months ago, with the extended warranty, and with the agreement that carmax would do a few repairs (it needed wheel bearings and brakes and timing cover gasket). carmax refused to do any repairs after she bought the car, other than the timing cover gasket, which they didn't repair, they just put RTV on it and hoped we wouldn't notice it still leaking. and the warranty refused to cover the brakes and wheel bearings. so she had a Cadillac dealership do the repairs. then a few weeks later her coilpack went out. again carmax and the warranty refused to pay. Well at the end of February get transmission went out. it took three weeks for carmax to send out a warranty rep to finally agree to fix the car. $12k for a new transmission and the other repairs it needed. on a car she owes $16k on. not to mention the previous repairs and maintenance she has had to pay for herself. AND TO MAKE IT WORSE, carmax refused to give her a rental car until last Friday. so she was out of a vehicle for two plus weeks already, and now they are telling her the rental car must be returned today. her Cadillac won't be done until AT LEAST Tuesday. so A MONTH she hasn't had her car, and only a week of having a rental? AND THEY STILL CHARGED HER FOR THE RENTAL?!? were going to be pursuing legal action because this is beyond messed up. don't EVER buy a car from carmax. especially this one. read more

Tell your 1Sgt to Black list this place from Patrick AFB!! We drove 8 hours the night before I deployed to CarMax in Melbourne FL to ensure my family had a good working vehicle after our last one was totaled. We were sold a vehicle that supposedly passed a rigorous inspection only to have the water pump pulley blow up before we reached home, spraying coolant everywhere and rendering the vehicle inoperable. It was midnight, I had to wait on the side of the road with my family while we waited for the tow, and I flew out in 6 hours. I fit the 359.00 bill, luckily, I was able to talk to Jonathan the salesman who said we would be reimbursed to have it towed to the nearest CarMax. We said that we did not want the vehicle at all and wanted an immediate refund. At that point we should have left the car on the side of the road and had the dealer take care of it knowing what a headache it has become for us. CarMax offered to also pay us back for fuel expenses, but only after we requested it days later stating we wanted compensation for the huge failure. We finally got paid back for the tow after It accrued months of interest on the credit card. After the offer to pay for fuel, they then wanted receipts (like we had planned on needing to show anyone our receipts when we started this drive??). I supplied bank statements with gas station charges from that very night but that was not good enough for CarMax to honor their offer apparently. I would only receive a response from the manager Billy if I called and emailed and happen to get him in the office. He said that they would not honor their offer because they had to have receipts. He said that he would make it right and get us compensated through other means (prepaid visa or maintenance was offered) It has been 5 months now and we still have not heard anything from CarMax despite repeated calls, text, and emails. No apology or acknowledgment of their error was made to us. I was very lucky to have been able to make calls during deployment so that my wife did not have to deal with this along with the rest of what a deployed spouse has to endure. We drove to a CarMax in a military friendly area thinking it would be military friendly. It has been quite the opposite experience and I will ensure that I am letting all of our friends stationed at Patrick Air Force base to stay away and take their business elsewhere. read more

Honoring their Advertised Word We purchased an Infinity QX50, after a lot of comparative research. The one sticking point was our need for a Class III trailer hitch to be installed, which, after multiple sources were investigated, it was decided by CarMax and ourselves, that a hitch could, in fact, be installed. After taking delivery of the car and pursuing the hitch installation, it was evident that we were all wrong; no hitch manufacturer produced a hitch for the QX50, because its chassis size wasn't big enough for a Class III hitch. I immediately contacted our Sales Associate, Katie Dague, to begin the 7-day return policy, with growing concerns that the right car was not readily available. We wanted the next size up from the QX50, being a QX60, but with all the exact same colors, trim, and options of the car we first selected. CarMAx acknowledged that finding the exact car may take a little longer, so they extended their corporate 7 day guarantee to 30 days, and immediately opened a nation-wide search for the right vehicle. Well, it didn't take long to find the perfect car (under a week) in the perfect color with the perfect set of features, as it came up available about 1,000 miles away. CarMax waived the transfer fee, and had the car shipped to their locale. We made a fee-free exchange for the new car, paying only the difference in price and the additional Sales Tax (the QX60 cost more than the QX50), but there we no other smoke and mirror games played by CarMAx; They honored their promise, and we went home 100% happy, without any additional "processing fees" or other hidden expenses. They even were able to transfer the License and registration from the first purchase to the second purchase without any additional fees! Thanks CarMax! You are highly recommended. read more
