I am a 58 year old black male. I began working for Dillen Plastic on January 07, 2016. I requested to pick up a day on my rest day in the Branding Department (D) Shift. The Spartan Staffing HR (Robert L. Ehrhart II) added me to the schedule for Friday, September 16, 2016. My regular assigned position is the CO-EX Department (C) Shift. My Foreman/Manager (Glenn) is great and my fellow workers are great and we all work hard together for the company. On Friday, September 16, 2016, I showed up on time per my request to work in the Branding Department. The white Foreman (Nolan Jones) assigned everyone to a machine except me (MG) and a young white male. While waiting to be assigned to a machine we had a short conversation were he told me that this was his first night working for Dillen and had come from the Bull-Pen. After about (15) fifteen minutes Foreman (Nolan Jones) returned and choice the white male to work on the printing side of Branding and he (Nolan Jones) told me "I was not needed and to go home". I then informed him that I was on the roster to work Branding. He (Nolan Jones) didn't like that I questioned him and walked off. Keep in mind that I had worked all parts of the Branding Department numerous time in my (9) nine months of employment. After about (10) ten minutes a white female floor manager came and told me that (NJ) said that the Thermo Department needed a person and the Retail Department needed a person. Please note the white male that (Nolan Jones) chose was not included in the choices even though I had worked the printing side before. I told the white female that I will take the first direction that the white Foreman (Nolan Jones) had given me which was "to go home" and I did. I had work both of those Departments before and I was not able to complete the shift without help from others which caused them extra anxiety. I have chosen not to work those Departments since because of that. The Spartan Staffing Handbook states: "At times you may be asked if you're interested in work that is different from what you requested. It is up to you (myself/MG) to decide to accept or decline the assignment. Please do not accept any assignment unless you are capable of performing the job and can work for the entire duration of the assignment". If the white Foreman (Nolan Jones) didn't want me to work in his department ever again, that's fine. But to lie and said I walked off the job on my own accord is shameful and racist. Especially when he told me "to go home". Dillen even fired Spartan Staffing On-Site Manager (Robert L. Ehrhart II) for standing up for me. All the managers are white and most of them have no problem in showing their disdain and racist attitude toward non-whites. Now here I am, a 58 year old black male having to seek new employment because of lies. My wife is disable and I am the only bread winner for my family. This is shame especially when my foreman/manger (Glenn) in the CO-EX Department (C) Shift was going to hire me as a regular permeant employee. Marlon Grayer

Of course, there were a few excuses used in the process. Perhaps it comes from having grown up with members of the armed forces on both sides of my family. However, this place showed itself as having a complete lack of leadership and no desire to do anything more than use people for what they could.
