I absolutely love Carmel Valley Dental. Dr. Lindsay is amazing, she is kind, comfortable and a perfectionist when it comes to her work. I have not always had that in the past and in the end has cost me some of my teeth and alot of money. The team she has is the BEST!!! Amanda is so knowledgeable, fun, sweet and caring. She definitely goes above and beyond. Solange is a breathe of fresh air. She always approaches me with a smile on her face, asks questions and addresses any concerns I have. She has made suggestions that I have never been made aware of before and has made a huge difference in the way I take care of my daily oral hygiene. I highly recommend caramel valley dental!! Dr. Bancroft is skilled and works well with her assistants, providing a pleasant experience as she does her work. Made an appointment twice with this practice to be told upon each separate arrival "we don't have you down today despite a text confirming time and day. When I returned a few weeks later, I was told they didn't have me down at the time I was scheduled for, again-despite receiving confirmation appointment text. I have been going to Dr.Bancroft for several years. She has been a great dentist. Until now. I had a problem with her billing dept a few months back.i recently had an a appt with her. When I entered the office Veronica the office manager was dismissive. The hygienist solange was also this way. It only took her 10 min to clean my teeth and I had to ask her to floss. When I went to pay the bill I asked about my insurance because my husband had passed the week before. No condolences- no I'm sorry. Just " that will be 132.00". If you have a problem with a patient don't treat them like that. I am human. Just say we are not a good fit. And move on. The office has upsold me at any chance they got. I even bought toothpaste this time against my better judgement. Because of this poor treatment I do not recommend them for any dentistry. Stay clear. read more

I have been going to Dr. Bancroft for years and because she is a perfectionist, I never leave disappointed in her work. She has a very calming personality and takes the time to explain everything about the procedures and answer all my questions--no matter how long that takes. I came to her years ago after a bad experience with a dentist who made his own veneers in the office. He destroyed my smile. You really have to have patience and talent to make front teeth veneers come out perfect and Dr. Bancroft did a fantastic job. I can't say enough great things about this dental practice. They quoted me over $2000 for two fillings and one crown after my insurance pay $1500. I got a second opinion from Carmel Mountain Dental which was $41 for three fillings. This office over treat people! They also had me pay over $200 for a cleaning, which should be 100% covered by my insurance. They didn't want to bill insurance. I came in because I got a flyer in the mail. Do not go to this office! They ask what you do and They will make you empty your wallet based on your job and how much money you make! I don't even know where to begin. Last year I called to become a patient here and confirmed they are in network with my insurance. A year later I kept getting bills for cleanings and fillings that I've never got before. I called to ask why and with an attitude they said your insurance covered this much. I called my insurance and they said this office is not in network with them. So their office dropped most dental insurances and they didn't notify their patients and when we asked about the bills they didn't bother to explain and kept charging. I have been to two other offices since I moved to San Diego and the degree of fear based upsell ing made me feel like I was better of skipping the dentist all together. I was getting depressed at how neglected my teeth felt- until I came here! My hygienist Solange was the kindest soul and paid so much attention to detail, you can tell this is her life passion. Okay so I was traumatized as a kid with my family dentist's heavy hand so I've had trouble physically going into my appointments and staying calm while getting work done. The first thing I noticed while I was in the waiting room is that the place is really clean. Second, the employees, specifically Chelly and Evelyn, are so friendly and attentive. I told Evelyn about my prior experience, as I'm sure she could tell I was nervous and she gave me an x ray cover to wear during my whole appointment, it gives a weighted blanket affect which I thought was genius and so kind of her to offer. Third, my cleaning which was done by the wonderful Solange, was the best teeth cleaning I've ever had. I don't floss as much as I should and she took her time instead of rushing and it seemed like all of the staff genuinely cared about getting to know me more with questions about my degree, family; etc. Fast forward to when I went in for my filling in a separate appointment, Dr. Bancroft was amazing!! They explained what they were doing to ease the nerves. They also had modern family on which I mean who doesn't a good distraction while someone is drilling into your mouth!? The biller has a very arrogant tone and overbills. They charge you missed appointment fees of $50 even if you are late. They prebill your cost of care and violate regulations in doing so. Be very careful going here because they are not what they appear and there are plenty of dentists around. Update: Dr. Bancroft called me to apologize and returned $400 and told me Karen had left the practice. Thank goodness! I began reading about Karen in another one star review in 2016 of this business, I wish I had known. Dr. Bancroft is a great dentist, but she needs to fire the remaining dental hygienists with poor customer service attitudes which scared me. If I only saw Dr. Bancroft, great! Unfortunately you have to go through some bad people to get to her. I really don't want her bad hygienist touching me. Dr. Bancroft-- you are awesome, but your wingmen make hurt your star ratings. Catherine Lazarz is a phenomenal Registered Dental Assistant who provided gentle, thoughtful care during a recent, lengthy dental procedure. I really did want to love this place, but it has left me disappointed. Dr. Bancroft was pleasant and those who worked on my teeth were good. I had a sealant done, however now when I floss it feels like it may pop out. Aside from that... The main thing that upset me about this office was the admin I dealt with over the phone. I was a new patient and after my first exam I needed to schedule 2 appointments for work to be done. Due to my busy work schedule I needed to push out the time in between appointments. I had told the lady over the phone I can come in very soon for my next appointment, but the following would probably need to be a few weeks after that, because I could not get the time off from work. I also was heading into the office and told her I could call her back. The lady I spoke to kept asking "well why not" and refused to let me off the phone. When I went in to my next appointment, I saw the lady who I spoke to over the phone and she seemed to have an attitude, it made me feel very uncomfortable. I ignored it and went on with my appointment. After my appointment they handed me another invoice, and said they forgot to invoice me for my last appointment, but didn't not explain any further. Very odd. Weeks later I end up calling to cancel my 2nd appointment, due to me getting a new job and no longer having the same coverage. I called to tell the office, I got the same lady over the phone, and she said "well didn't you have insurance the last time you were here". I explained yes, but not anymore. I felt the conversations I had were very unprofessional and pushy. My whole experience with their admin upfront really made it not worth going to this place again read more

A friend recommended Carmel Valley Dental to me and I'm so glad they did. I was flying from the east coast to the west coast and during the layover I got a bite to eat. I bit into the wrap and my fake tooth, in the the front of my mouth, snapped off my Maryland Bridge. I was mortified. It's amazing how drastically a missing tooth changes your whole face! I called Carmel Valley Dental first thing the next morning and they made room to take me! The whole staff was friendly and helpful. While working on my teeth they gave me a blanket and TV to watch. I had been a patient of this dental office for about 6 years and in the last 2 years it's changed. Initially my husband and I were happy with our care and very much enjoyed our dental hygienist who has recently retired. However, the last time my husband went in he was told he had 8 cavities and quoted a pretty high amount for Invisalign. He went to get a second opinion about Invisalign and was given a much better rate and went with that office for his Invisalign care. He also went to a different dentist to have his next cleaning and had zero cavities. I then went in for my appointment and was told I all of a sudden had six cavities and I went and got a second opinion I was told I absolutely have no cavities. We have since left this practice because we are very disappointed with recent service. The cost at this practice and the fact that between my husband and I we were told we had 14 cavities between the two of us and we both went to a new dentist and never mentioned that we were told we had cavities and either of us had any cavities. A fluoride treatment at the office is $40-$45 out of pocket and at the current office we go to it's $26. It's unfortunate because I like Dr. Bancroft But this type of false information when seeking care to have work done on your mouth to make money is absolutely unacceptable. There are many other dental offices in the area I would look for a more honest place personally. I would probably give one star because of the dishonesty but because I was a patient for a long time I will give it 2 stars. read more
