My daughter is now 10 and has been coming every 8-9 months for check ups but still does not have braces. They closely monitor how her adult teeth are coming in and will let us know the optimal time to get braces. My son just got an expander at 7.5 years old and I'm very happy with the process so far. I could tell he would need one as he snores and breathes with his mouth open at night. Last year, we took our 12-year-old daughter here for a free consult. The consulting orthodontist recommended wire braces and a spreader for about 18 months, at a cost of $17K-$20K. I asked about Invisalign and she said it wouldn't work because our daughter's teeth needed to be spread and Invisalign doesn't do that. I went to our regular dentist to ask if this was correct. She said no, it wasn't, that Invisalign should work perfectly. Nine months and $5K later, our daughter's teeth are PERFECTLY STRAIGHT. That's 1/2 of the time and 1/4 of the $$ we were quoted by Carmel Valley Orthodontics, not to mention all the middle-school awkwardness she was spared by not having to walk around for a year and a half with a hardware store in her mouth. We came to Carmel Valley Orthodontics after our pediatric dentist recommended an expander for my daughter. We interviewed several orthodontists and decided on on CVO for several reasons. First, they did a very thorough examination (more than other orthodontists) and used their in office imaging to decide on the best treatment plan. This gave me confidence in their recommendations. Also, the office staff is excellent! They always answer the phone, return voicemails and greet us with a smile when we arrive. They do a good job scheduling patients so we almost always go right back for our appointment when we arrive. We've never had to wait long. A fun bonus is the incentive program they have for kids to motivate them to keep up with brushing and flossing and follow the treatment plan. My daughter has loved collecting her Carmel cash for a prize. I'm thankful to have found an orthodontist we trust to help us as our girls grow up and would recommend them to others! read more
