Pizza is still TOP NOTCH, but sadly they were out of LETTUCE (!!) to make my favorite salad last Sunday. They were SERIOUSLY short-handed and the poor guy who was taking orders was running himself ragged, even though there weren't that many people there (maybe slammed w/take out orders??) Service was slooooooooooow, but thorough, and our larger group (eight of us out on the patio...) were all eventually served. Sad I didn't get my favorite Carmela's Mediterranean salad, but sadder for the overworked, overachieving bartender/waiter/who knows what else guy who ran a one man show that night. Stopped in today cause of a coupon that came out last month in a Save around book. Had the coupon on the table and the waitress said they stopped honoring them. Wonder if they had honored any of them. The book did not have these coupons last year. Felt like a scam to me to get you in the door and get you to buy something else. I've like their pizza and sandwiches for years and they are very skilled at deep frying. My beef is that I went in there for the lunch buffet and it was toward the end of the lunch hour (are there hours on the buffet?) and they left one taco pizza on the buffet and did not make more. I don't even like taco pizza. They didn't even ask if I wanted anything, and I've seen them ask other people many time. They were sure to quickly give me my bill and make me pay for a pizza I didn't want. Maybe this is their policy, but they should be sure that people know before they order the buffet. At this piont, I'm going to tell you to skip the buffet because the pizza on there is old and they don't refresh it. read more

My calzone was very good, though I like my calzone with marinara that many places serve. The garlic breadsticks were also good and you could tell they were homemade. Though they forgot sauces for the bread sticks and by the time I got home (20 mins away) I sure wasn't going to drive back for them. They had like three people in the pick-up area, so to me there was no excuse for the mess up. Because of the distance, I asked them to wrap everything in foil so it would stay warm on the drive home. You would've thought I was somehow inconveniencing the cook. Yes, I could see her response when they asked her. If I ever have the chance I would like to try their lunch buffet, so i can see what their pizza tastes like, since I have heard good reviews about it. Other than that I will probably only go back if I have a hankering for a calzone and I will specifically ask for the sauce and check before I leave. They have two sections to the restaurant a bar and sit down. They play different music in each section, which drove me batty in just the short time I was there for my pick-up. This is the worst place ever I forgot why we never order food from Carmela's it had been a few years thought would try order a calzone with meatball and sausage and extra cheese and marinara well there wasn't any extra cheese and one tiny tiny cap of sauce the calzone was by far the worst one I have ever tasted I couldn't eat more than three bites of it I can guarantee this was last time I ever order food there I can't in good conscience recommend this place or even give it one star it's that bad I only gave one star because had to in order for review to post but I give this place a minus 5 star it's truly that bad read more

The food is really good here but any more the service is horrible. Every time I have them deliver I get the wrong order and it's always at least an hour and a half. The past 2 times I dined in I've waited over 45 min only to be told they lost my order in the kitchen!! The first time I understood because they were very busy but this last time there were only 3 tables. When you go in and sit at the bar you have to wait forever for a drink because the bartender is always outside smoking. read more

I've dined here a few times while visiting family, and have had consistently good food for a great price! They offer pizzas, sandwiches/subs, salads, and pasta. The prices here are really good for the amount of food that you get. The smaller salad is $4.95, and is big enough for an entree! I most recently had a combo of a chipotle chicken flatbread sandwich, a side salad, and a soda for $7.99. I had to take the salad home! The pizza here is also pretty good - I mean, it's no Cassano's, but it's a nice hand-tossed pizza. The inside is really big, and we've never had a hard time finding seating for our whole group. There is also a large patio and bar area if you're coming in for a drink. Sometimes it can be a bit loud inside, especially with the country music turned way up... but this is par for the course in New Carlisle so you really can't be too surprised. There are also plenty of tvs if you wanted to watch a sporting event, but not so many that it's annoying. Tasty and affordable, just the way I like it! read more

Carmella's in New Carlisle is a good place to go to to get out of the house on pizza night or take the kids somewhere to calm them down. I like their huge burgers and fries...one order could be shared by two kids. In a day where restaurants are making their burgers smaller and smaller, it seems Carmellas is doing the opposite. A good value for a fair price. Hey, and there is ice cream! Yay! A little more help with the service and they'd get that last star! Great place! read more

Dined here for the first time last Tuesday evening after a ball game. The kids eat free on Tuesday had us turning around to try a new place. The server was incredibly friendly. Helped us with suggestions on the menu and quick with refills. We had the buffalo chicken pizza. So good, I am ready to return! New York style pizza crust. Hand tossed deliciousness. The boys had burger and fries for free. We shared mozzarella sticks. Nothing to brag about with the exception of tying us over until the main course arrived. I cannot say enough about the buffalo chicken pizza. At $15 for a large specialty pizza...it's a steal! One side note that nearly has us questioning our return was an apparent drunken regular. He walked in the main door ready to start a bar brawl right in front of a group of kids under 12 playing pool. This was before 9 pm and yelling words kids under six haven't heard before. Our server apologized profusely and promised us that this never happens. I thought maybe a manager would appear following that episode. It was still delicious pizza. I just feel awkward taking our boys to return to what appeared to be a family friendly establishment. read more

Tonight I had ordered a grilled chicken salad. I was told it would take 40 minutes to an hour for delivery, which was no problem. After about an hour and a half, I called to find out what was going on with my order. Which I was very nice. I was told that the driver had already been to my address and that no one had answered. I informed the female that answered my call that I have been sitting in my living room the entire time after I placed my order and that I did not hear a knock at my door. My front door is about 8 ft. away from where I was sitting. I also have a dog that was laying at my feet and he did not rouse one time. And if someone knocked at my door, he would have been up and barking. The female informed me that the driver knows my area very well and that it was unlikely that he would go to the wrong address. Basically calling me a liar. Look, all I wanted was my damn food. Oh and the female I spoke with, sarcastically asked me if I wanted to speak to the manager. Which I did. I honestly thought the manager would make things right by telling me my food would be on the next delivery. That didn't happen. I live about a half a mile away from Carmelas and if my daughter had not needed to use my car this evening, I would have just picked my order up myself. If the driver did indeed knock at my door, then I would like to have a look at him because even my granddaughter which is 3 years old could knock at my door loud enough for me to hear. I just hate to be called a liar. Which that word was never used, but they may as well have called me one because that's how they made me feel. And I don't understand, beings how they are so close to my address, why they wouldn't offer to deliver my food again. All I ordered was a grilled chicken salad. The food is terrific! That being said, the staff has major problems with customer service. Not very polite with customers and there seems to be a lot of technical problems that either keeps them from receiving orders or processing credit cards ect. which isnt bad but the staff seems very unapologetic about it. Better off with Papa Johns or Dominos in the area. At least that way if there is a problem with your order, they will do what they can to make it right. read more

No one was very understanding of our frustration and they took the order again over the phone then told us it would be another 20 minute wait.
