My carne asada burrito had barely any cheese despite paying extra, and the meat tasted days old. My wife ordered a bean and cheese burrito, but they added rice and barely any cheese. Then there's a tip jar at the drive-thru after terrible service. Seriously? Tipping for handing someone a bag through a window? Tipping culture is out of control. I'd been eyeing this place for months and finally made it happen with a double date night out. The interior nails that Southern Cali college town energy with retro decor and good music at a volume where you can actually hold a conversation. Temperature was perfect, staff was warm and helpful, and the vibe overall just works. My wife and I had hoped to split a "Biggy" burrito, but our protein preferences don't overlap, so we each ended up with our own "Pee-Wee." No custom halves here, which cost us an extra $4.50 and left me feeling like we got less food total than a shared Biggy would have given us. If you have any appetite at all, size up. My steak Ol' Skool burrito was solid, though I made the mistake of going with the mild sauce. It needed more heat to really bring it together. The fries-in-the-burrito thing also isn't really my style. I'm more of a beans, rice, and fresh lime squeeze kind of guy, so I came away a little underwhelmed on that front. But that's a taste preference, not a knock on the place. Worth a visit, no question. Just come hungry, go spicy, and know whether you're a fries-in-your-burrito person before you order.
