This place was pretty good! We had a large group of 8, so we made a reservation! Lots of parking and they had bakery items available for purchase up front. They have really good daily specials too, and on Fridays they do $3 house margaritas! I tried one of those and really enjoyed it! For my entree I decided to try the Tequila Lime Pasta and it was good! Not to spicy and pretty flavorful! While I personally didn't have any issues, some of my friends did. At one point we needed our waitress so we could ask for more tortillas. It took a while and when she did come back, she told us there would be an up-charge for extra tortillas. First time ever trying this restaurant. I requested my order "To Go" which included two chicken enchiladas entrees with their chips and guacamole. First of all, I greatly appreciated their attention to detail and everything being freshly sealed for the drive home. Came in a large sturdy takeout bag with handles so it was very easy to carry and I didn't have to worry about cheap plastic bags ripping like other establishments. The chicken enchiladas entree had excellent seasoning, was generously portioned, had a tomato slice and some green lettuce leaves, and also came with a side of refined beans and Spanish rice. Utensils and napkins were included minus me even asking. The chicken, sauces, and everything in between were absolutely fresh and delicious! The guacamole and tortilla chips came with a large plastic bag for the chips that was tied and also had the restaurants seal so I knew it was going to be fresh! And it was. The guacamole was absolutely divine. Definitely could have used more than the little plastic container but I noticed on their menu you can buy a larger size; guaranteed next time I will. The guacamole was creamy and perfectly chunky with avocados, lime, tomatoes, and cilantro. A win, win, all the way around! I also received a medium sized well sealed container of mild salsa that was also fresh and seasoned well; definitely not like the canned garbage that you find at the grocery store. I came here with my husband and ordered a new salad. It was a chopped salad and it had no flavor "no sabor!" I can't eat dairy and so my only option for dressing was Italian dressing. Can you imagine that? Italian dressing on a Mexican salad? I put some dressing on, but the whole salad was without flavor. My husband, sweet pork burrito also was bland. And today was my birthday so it made it even worse. The service was wonderful and the ambience was great. They just need to add more flavor.! read more

I had the Pollo Con Crema, nothing spectacular but tasty, it comes with corn or flour tortillas.My friend had steak fajitas and they smelled wonderful but the steak was overcooked and tough. We went to Cafe Sabor on Friday with a group of friends, 10 in total with an early reservation at 5:30 pm before a party later that evening. Even though we were there early before the dinner rush it still took them about 10-15 minutes to get our table ready. No big deal. I've found Cafe Sabor to be a little hit and miss and not a fan of the Bear Lake location, but Layton seems to do a pretty decent job. I wish I'd grabbed our Servers name because she was excellent, especially with such a large table along with her other tables. Very friendly and on top of everything with no delays. We'll done server! They start with chips and salsa with a very mild salsa and a medium one, I like that they have both as options, the medium isn't very hot but has a nice flavor. 5/5 My go to there is the Pollo Con Creme, made the mistake of ordering their fajitas once, don't do that. But the Pollo con crème is really good, it's like a chicken fajitas but in a yummy crème sauce with mushrooms, peppers, chicken, that you wrap in a tortilla like a fajitas with beans and rice. And it's really quite good. 5/5 My wife ordered the chicken mole and really enjoyed it, the bite I had with the fried plantains was excellent, good contrast of flavors. 5/5 read more

It was fun finding this location but we did. The place is somewhat large can accommodate groups of all sizes. They have both booths and tables. We got a booth. We were served water and chips and salsa as soon as we set down. They have a nice selection of Mexican food items on their menu. I went with the shrimp al a Diablo and my wife had the combination plate with a chili releno. Both were very good. The salsa is terrible and tastes like marinara sauce. I ordered from a food app on an early weekday evening for delivery. I requested the two entrees that are both supposed to come with Spanish rice and refried beans along with the main entree requested. I requested the two chicken enchiladas and one beef taco along with red and green hot sauce for the meal. Not only was there no red or green sauce to be found, the beef taco showed up with just an empty taco shell and some shredded not very fresh iceberg lettuce and some dried out shredded cheese that clearly came from a prepackaged bag. Aside from the beef missing, there was absolutely zero Spanish rice or refried beans given with the entree. The chicken enchiladas did arrive with the Spanish rice and refried beans. I have been to this restaurant before both in person and ordering takeout and I've never encountered such an issue before. I contacted the food app and they declined me any sort of refund. So I called the restaurant and requested to speak to the manager. I spoke to Shalynn who DID ADMIT that this was an error on the restaurants end. That they did know that they did forget the beef for my taco. She kept saying "ugh, ugh" anytime that I tried to speak! Very rude behavior and certainly not a very customer service oriented restaurant or person. Shaylynn told me that I needed to contact the food app; I told her that I already did and they were unwilling to refund me, etc. She then said I could drive down there right then and there and get a gift certificate for the two entrees. I told her that wasn't possible, as DUH, if that was the case, why would I have ordered and paid for food delivery. Then she insulted me further in her broken English telling me only one entree receives the Spanish rice and refried beans and that it is meant to go with both entrees. I said then why doesn't your menu state that? Not only that, but I have ordered two chicken enchiladas entrees before and BOTH of them had refried beans and Spanish rice! Shalynn NEEDS TO BE FIRED! She refused to listen and just kept with her "ugh huh, ugh huh" instead of listening to me: THE PAYING REPEAT CUSTOMER!!! Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere! Rancheritos and Betos have better customer service and that's not saying much! This whole meal and scenario ruined my whole event and that of who had joined me for dinner. Good luck Shalynn. Upon arrival we were seated right away. It's clean with a warming atmosphere, the staff were friendly. I ordered the Mango Shrimp, sautéed in mushrooms and garlic with a mango sauce. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, there were a lot of flavors going on but they all worked well together. The texture was great, there was enough sauce and I felt there were a lot of shrimp on my plate. The rice and beans were good too. For my drink I got a non-alcoholic drink called a Pineapple Mule, it had pineapple juice, crushed mint and a ginger beer concoction that is delicious! I'd definitely order it again. A side note, the ginger beer was real ginger beer! And it wasn't overly strong but I could tell it wasn't ginger ale You should try this drink. I got the flan for dessert. It came as a sliced square with chocolate syrup. It was really thick but creamy too. Definitely not your typical flan dessert. Oh, the guacamole is to die for, large chunks of avocado with tons of flavor. A must get!! My family enjoyed their meal too and we will definitely go back. Just sorry we didn't go sooner. What happened? In the past, I've enjoyed amazing food here, but I went yesterday and it was a train wreck!! The cheese on our nachos had no flavor. (Walmart cheese?) The shredded chicken tasted terrible and was way too salty. The sweet pork also had a strange, unpleasant flavor. The salsa tasted like pizza sauce??? My kids and I were super hungry, so we ate most of food - but by the end we couldn't stomach another bite. Is Sabor cutting costs on ingredients to make more profit? I'm not going back. This location has improved a lot. The service is great and very quick. The food is on point and served hot. I had the carnitas taco and queso and they were both fantastic. So much so that I forgot to take a picture. I was at this location earlier this year and wasn't happy and the manager Ruth has done a fantastic job of improving the ambiance, quality of food and service. The chips and salsa are very good. They give you 2 types of salsa. One spicier than the other and both amazing. I lived in Mexico for 1 year and this salsa taste just like it did back in Mexico. Menu selection is good, the standards plus a few dishes you don't find everywhere but not a broad of offerings as what I consider top tier. I enjoyed the food, again upper end and good for the dish I ordered. Service was quick and pleasant. The old rail station is a historic building and home to other great restaurants in the past. All in all it is probably my favorite within 10 miles but not within 20 miles of home. My one complaint was my wife left our credit card in the folder with the bill. I called and left a name and number and they said they'd call at the end of the night if they found it. They didn't. I had to come in the next day and watch the hostess sort through two boxes of cards, but she did find it. That's as much on me as on them. read more

This is hands down my favorite for Mexican food. The ambiance is perfect. The colors, sounds, and decor is welcoming and classic. From the location at the train station to the outdoor seating for summer nights, the aesthetic is awesome. The food is amazing and unique! I have yet to find something I don't like. Favorites are the Pollo Durango Plate, the Shrimp Fajita Burrito, and the Cheese Enchiladas. It even starts with the chips and salsa. They bring two freshly made salsas with every order. The 1000 degree plate of beans, rice, and cheese-topped "something" usually isn't my jam and it's not the food I seek out on a regular basis. I have, however, been wanting to try Sabor in this location and see if they lived up to the good reviews they get. They did. Quaint building (the old train station) that has undergone many a transition over the decades. These guys did it right and everything looks nice and "fits" with the style and ambiance. We were seated in an area near the bar and at 2pm there was still traffic but not enough to take too long to sit. Chips and salsa were good, I wish a little spicier but understand why it isn't. We ordered the Fajita Burrito and and Cali Chimichanga. Both were excellent but I'd have to say that Cali is pretty unique and VERY tasty. The black beans on the side were a little hard but the rice was really good. Will definitely be back. Of all of the spots serving this type of Mexican food, this would rank toward the top. read more

This is a good family-style Mexican restaurant. The menu is pretty safe. I really liked their chips & salsa. They serve 2 kinds, spicy and mild. Both were good but I preferred the spicy. Both had great flavor and weren't too sweet. Aside from that, I had the pollo durango. The refried beans were kinda cold and not super flavorful, but they were ok. This was probably my fourth or fifth visit to this restaurant. Normally they're pretty decent. The chips and salsa are also OK. And on this occasion, which was on Thursday afternoon, my waitress was excellent , I was part of a group of about 20 people and she was pretty responsive. Unfortunately I made the mistake of ordering the taco salad deluxe with ground beef. It was hugely disappointing. They are supposed to be served in a crispy taco bowl, mine was all busted up and flat. The lettuce was Romain wilted lettuce, no tomatoes whatsoever some cheese, and some disgusting flavorless ground beef underneath everything. It was just terrible. Fridays are round to be busy and patrons know the wait times will be a little longer. It's ok. The chips and salsa were really good and we loved how they provided both a regular and hot salsa. I ordered mine on the rocks with salt and it came out in a copper mug with no salt (not that you could apply salt to a super thin cup edge). I even sent mine back to be remade and it tasted the same.
