BEWARE OF THIS SEAMSTRESS
I am not one to write reviews but after the experience I had here I knew I couldn't just sit back and let this happen to another bride.
What brings this review to a one star, though honestly if I could make this a zero star and still post it I would, is that I can describe my experience with Carmen as nothing short of a nightmare that started from the very first day. I got fitted by her the day I purchased my dress and all seemed okay until I realized after leaving that I had been given no information on fittings or when I would be able to actually take my dress home. I decided to just wait and see what would happen since she had my phone number, but after a month had ticked by without a single update, we were 3 months out from the wedding at this point, I finally decided to reach out myself only to be told she was about a month out from even starting on my dress and that she'd contact me later for a fitting. Flash forward a couple more months with no contact, I reached out again with concerns about fit and ending up just feeling brushed off.
We had radio silence all the way up until 3 WEEKS before my wedding and hadn't had a single fitting nor a single photo, which I had requested when I purchased the dress. Finally, I had to have my mother reach out to her, and after a lot of back and forth, she agreed to get me in for a fitting. At the fitting, the dress just didn't look right, it looked as if she had rushed all of the alterations in just a few short days so I could try on the dress. The bust and straps didn't fit well and bunched in weird places and one of the layers of the dress had never been hemmed. To make crazy matters even worse during the fitting she wanted to just cut the unhemmed layer with some scissors and call it good. My mom was able to stop her from doing this and told her just to take the dress and finish it even if that meant we had to get the dress the week of my wedding. She ended up contacting me to pick up the dress the next week and I went and tried it on one last time, believing everything was altered, including the hem, as she stated she got it all done, so I left with the dress.
Flash forward to my wedding day and putting on my dress. We found out the last layer had NEVER been hemmed; it was still full of her sewing pins. I had to change out the stick pins with safety pens to hold the layer up so the pens wouldn't poke me while I was wearing it and just hope and pray it would hold for the length of my ceremony and reception. We paid this seamstress over $600 dollars and the treatment we got was nothing short of unacceptable. I encourage each and every bride to please take your dress and go find another seamstress because I wouldn't wish the experience I had with her on any other bride.
