My daughter and I went into our appointment at Satin Stitches with all these dream (AI-inspired) ideas, lol, but Mrs. Stephanie was more than willing to help bring those dreams to life. She took the time to explain the entire process it would take to achieve the look we wanted, which I truly appreciated. After taking a moment to really look in the mirror and evaluate our ideas, we all came to an agreement to make a simple adjustment that ended up making the dress look and fit even better without all the extras. Her eye for detail and honesty made all the difference. Not to mention, her presence is so warm and welcoming, she makes you feel completely comfortable from the moment you walk in. The best part is that our dress dilemma was actually fixed during the visit! With that being said, Satin Stitches is highly recommended by me and my daughter. This experience has been heartbreaking. I trusted this seamstress with my wedding dress and she let me down at every step. From the beginning, communication was frustrating and unclear. I would point out areas that needed altering, and she would say it was taken care of. Then at the next visit, she would point to a completely different spot and claim that was what she worked on. She never responded to my texts, even when I was just trying to confirm appointments or check on progress. Weeks would go by with no updates, and I was left completely in the dark. Despite having my dress for over four months, nothing meaningful was ever done to it. The most devastating part came just a week and a half before my wedding, when I went in to pick up my "finished" dress and she admitted that she "dropped the ball on this one." Nothing had been altered. I stood there in shock, knowing that I had less than two weeks to completely start over and find something else to wear for one of the most important days of my life. There was simply no time left to salvage the original dress. This entire situation has caused so much unnecessary stress and heartache during a time that's supposed to be filled with joy. Save yourself the stress, pain, and the tears. I would not bring your dress to her. When I first brought my dress to her, we had a long discussion about what I wanted. We had some miscommunications I guess, and a month later at our scheduled appointment, she hadn't worked on a single part of the dress. A month later at our next scheduled appointment I go and stuff is done on the dress, not everything needed but some stuff. Yay. I tell her my bridal shoot (that I already had to reschedule once before bc of issues with my dress not being ready) is in a week. She assures me everything will be fine, and she's adding the sleeves on this week and we will be set. Then she talks to herself, and tried to add materials and things and up the price by like $300. I have to text her not to do that, because as things were I already paid her $500 for this dress and she is still adding more cost and not being completely clear about pricing. I am all for charging what you are worth but her prices don't reflect her work. Day before my bridal shoot she texted me and said I was supposed to meet her over an hour ago to pick up the dress, even though nothing about that was said. We go back and forth and try to find a time for me to pick it up, then I haul butt from an hour away from Tyler right then. I get there and try on the dress, and the sleeves that she added throughout the week were completely wrong, and way too small. I'm a big girl and these sleeves were not flattering. If I moved too much I would have busted through the sleeves. I'm about to bust into tears because my bridal shoot is TOMORROW. then she goes on about "I can tighten them"... as if they weren't 2 sizes too small already, not even the shape I wanted, and making the straps of the dress not even fit on to my shoulders. I have to then pay $300 MORE to her, so $800 in total. If it wasn't for the fact my wedding was in a month, I would have not taken the dress, but I loved it so much and couldn't afford a brand new one. I have to cancel my bridal shoot because the dress didn't fit correctly and my boobs would have been out, and it just wasn't at all what I wanted. I even had sent her pictures and asked if she could do it and she assured me she could. I then take it to another lady, and she is shocked. She tells me it looks like an 11 year old worked on my dress. Parts of the dress that I didn't even notice were not even complete. She missed a whole section of beadwork under my arms, and didn't finish basically any project she started on the dress. The new lady tried her best to fix the sleeves, but with such short notice, it took me a week and a half to find her, she couldn't get it completely what I wanted. This whole wedding process has been horrible, but especially wedding dress shopping. I was lucky enough to find this dress for cheap, and then I get scammed out of $800 of our wedding fund for work that is not good, and not completed. I have lost out on $800+ because of her. I'm not getting a redo on bridal pictures, hair, and makeup I had to reschedule then cancel because of her. I lost out on all those deposits, and pictures because of her unfinished work. If it didn't look so bad before my pictures I would have but I just couldn't stop crying after leaving her shop. Save yourself the pain and heartache. read more
