Took a stroll to the other side for some baked goods, and they were quite disgusting.. not authentic at all, it's a shame to portray a selection of Italian pastries and it actually be canned garbage in a pastry shell, and the 2 ladies were extremely rude at that counter. I was in the mood for a Reuben Sandwich for lunch today but it can be difficult to find a good place to get deli food in Hazleton. Then I remembered that one of the guys who works in our office said that Carmen's makes fantastic sandwiches. So I showed up at lunchtime and sure enough our company van is n the parking lot and he was taking lunch back to the office. He was right. Carmen's is a really good place to get a sandwich, panini, wrap, or a selection of hot food. I got Reuben Sandwich and it was very good. It was a little soggy on the sauerkraut side but no big deal. I also ended up buying two pounds of cookies from the bakery side to take home. Definitely coming back. read more

Nice menu of basic breakfast and a whole board of Paninis and other choices. All the baked goods are made in premises so you can satisfy your sweet tooth at the bakery counter on the way out. A dozen or so small tables available if you want to eat here and parking is easy. What more can you ask for Fully staffed a rarity these days. read more

Roach on the floor says it all. Roaches are mostly nocturnal and do alot of hiding therefore If you're seeing them in the dining room in the middle of the day it's more than likely an infestation. Didn't even eat the pizza we bought. read more

I've tried them all and Carmen's Deli Style Pizza is the absolute best! Longo's is inedible. The crust tastes like it wasn't even baked. Frankie's isn't bad, but very dry. Senape's is too variable. Sometimes good. other times, meh! read more

Parking is easy in a dedicated lot next to the business. There are two counters, one for the bakery and one for the restaurant. I tried the Meatball & Scamutz, it was on grilled fresh italian bread, the meatballs were like Grandma used to make, and just the right ratio of creamy scamutz cheese. I washed it down with an RC Cola. Delicious! The bakery side is where you pay, and order the pre-boxed pizza(pitza). The pizza is just wonderful, very saucy and the scamutz cheese blend compliments very nicely. They offer the standard italian bakery sort of pastries and cookies. Get the blueberry pie! It is better than any other, and I have had many. My mother has practically stopped making her own blueberry pie since trying Carmen's! It has a delicious crumb topping, large blueberries, and crispy fresh crust. It may seem pricey, but it's well worth it when you consider cost and time to make it. It's often warm, just made! I've been coming here for about 3 years and have always had a great lunch. They have salads, sandwiches and a hot food selection that switches out daily, though they do have a few items that they have available everyday. Don't miss getting a slice of their fresh bread and butter along the far wall at the end of the hot food counter, to go with your hot food order! You can also customize your sandwiches and salads to your liking, but there doesn't seem to be a published option for this on their menu. For example, if you don't want to order a sandwich off their menu, and want an italian cold cut hoagie, they can make that. For the new customer, it's a bit confusing as you will turn right to get in line to order your food and then when it's delivered to your table (or to you, if you're getting it to go), you'll get your bill. Check out is at the bakery counter (which is straight ahead when you enter). I recommend getting a cookie, especially the coconut macadamia nut! The checkout line can be very long especially right before a holiday (Easter is a big one), so maybe a delivered order might be better at those times. read more

Love this place. They have daily hot food that is always delicious. Also, a menu of salads and sandwiches that are quickly made. We try to have lunch here once a week. First time here. We were told about their cold pizza. Taking a box home to Cali. Inside the restaurant is other foods to eat but not pizza warm. They have Meatloaf and Halibque (cabbage rolls). Linda and I had that for lunch. Pretty good. read more

Awesome pastries, home made cakes and all. I went in here craving something sweet. I ordered a blueberry muffin, toasted with a little butter. AMAZING!! Fresh tasting, real blueberries, great service. Got to meet "Carmen" as she sat at a table next to what appeared to be a family member gentleman, she was very nice and welcoming. She thanked my wife and I for coming into her restaurant and suggested items to try on the menu for my next visit. Never had anything bad from here. And as much as I hate to admit it, their cold scamutz pitza is better than Senape's. I didn't think that was possible, but I had the opprtunity to try it about two months ago and was shocked at how much better it was. If you like Senape's, you've gotta give Carmen's a try! read more
