Visiting the Bloom Diner is a little bit like going home for food. The staff is always kind and very welcoming.

Went there yesterday, asked for a coffee refill. The waitress (who is related to the ownership) says she'll get me a coffee, but I have to take it to go. She said it was going to be a "busy day" and "she needed the table." I couldn't believe my ears. It was embarrassing in front of my adult son. Paying $40 for two omlettes and 3 slices of Canadian bacon should entitle someone to at least enjoy a second cup of coffee It's the straw that broke the camel's back. The place has sporadic, inconsistent hours. Almost every time I go in there, they're out of *something*, an indication of cash flow problems. Yesterday it was oatmeal. They were out of fountain Diet Coke for 3 weeks. As others have said, place is absolutely filthy. The mens' room always smells like a sewer. Skip this dump and go somewhere else. It's a college town, no shortage of places to get a good breakfast. I recommend Bloomin Bagels I'm just one person, but word of mouth is a powerful thing. Oh, also you have to pay to park, and up until about a week ago, it was cash only. What a lot of aggravation for mediocre, expensive food. read more

Stopped in for breakfast heading home to CT. First friendly experience was in the parking lot was from an elderly woman who was parked in a handicap spot and saw us park behind the building which we backed into the parking space. She waited for us and as we were walking by her car she said "excuse me I noticed where you parked which you are not allowed to park there as well as you are not allowed to back into parking spaces around here or you will get a $40 fine". We said What!? She said it's the law here and she learned the hard way and was just trying to help us out as not to get fined. We thanked her, I told my husband I would go in to get a table while he moved the truck. Once inside seated and talking to the waitress she confirmed how strict they were in the town with parking and had no idea why you weren't allowed to back into parking spots. She actually told me that one of their customers had parked in the handicap spots and placed her handicap ticket on her dash instead of hanging from her review mirror and she received a $50 ticket for not having it in clear view site!! That is absolutely ridiculous and I said to her "with all these ridiculous rules who would want to move here." She did tell me that the customer who got fined for the handicap placed on her dashboard instead of the mirror fought the $50 ticket and won so that was good to hear. So now as for the diner I myself was very pleased with the welcome service cleanliness and food. My husband gave me a call after quite some time and told me to just get him an orange juice to go and order something for myself and he would meet me inside. He couldn't find a parking spot anywhere near the diner that he was allowed to park in because they were all taken (9/9:30am) so he found a spot three blocks away. I told him okay ordered a omelette for me to go then decided to call him back and said I don't know how close you are now to the Diner but please just turn around, go get the truck and I will meet you out side when you get here. Ridiculous 30 to 40 minutes have now passed since I had gotten a seat inside. I wasn't happy at all with the entire Parking Rules and Restrictions which would have made our dining experience terrible for both of us. So once I placed my omelette order to go I moved myself to a seat at the counter so I could watch when he drove up which was another 15 minutes! My order was cooked packaged and on the counter for me within 5 minutes. I actually opened it up and had time to eat it while it was hot before he even pulled into to parking lot. My waitress and the hostess were very very friendly. I would like to say I/we would be back if we were in the area but because of the rules/laws in this town I can honestly say that we definitely will never stop in this town again. It certainly isn't visitor friendly and luckily the people were that shared the information about these ridiculous rules that saved us from getting a ticket because there are Absolutely No Signs anywhere telling you what the laws are!! read more

Driving between NY and Chicago on rt 80 we needed a place to stop for lunch. There is not a lot between Scranton and Williamsport. Used Yelp and found the Bloomsburg diner. There were a couple of negative Reviews but the reviewers were not very specific or seemed to have had a negative interaction. In any case, the diner is an independently owned simple small town place. We had patty melts which came with fries. It was a terrific version. Service was attentive and quick. Small businesses need support. read more

Food was great, came out fast and was very affordable. Unfortunately no place to sit for a guy my size. Seating is tight because the diner is small so I can't go back. Parking is a pain and no credit cards accepted so bring cash. If parking and cash doesn't bother you and you aren't a giant like me, you won't be disappointed by the food. read more

Five stars because I love diners and the local feel and this one doesn't disappoint. It's small, cash only and paper menus. But I love it when you are served a decent portion at a good price and beverage is included in some of the meals, and your whole table's beverages and meals come to the table 8 minutes after you order. There were four people in our group and we all walked away satisfied and full. read more

Stopped overnight along Rt. 80 on a drive east. Found the Bloomsburg Diner for breakfast on Yelp. It could not have been better. Clean, friendly, quick - but mostly - very, very good food and coffee. The only dinner in Bloomsburg, this little place is historically known. The atmosphere is slightly rundown and outdated, but the food is very cheap. In a college town, that's what student are looking for. The service was good, only a short wait for a table, the waitress checked on us often, and our food came out fast. I got the eggs benedict with home fries. It was good but had a ton of sauce on it. I would probably ask for it on the side, but only out of personal preference. The home fries were very good! I also got a single piece of french toast, which I really liked! The coffee was pretty good, nothing special just black coffee. One of the individuals with me got an omelette, she didn't like it. They also offer other specials, eggs, toast, pancakes, waffles and scrapple (which I had no idea what that was). Best $2 breakfast in town. What more can one say? Quite a bit, as it turns out. But I'll keep it short and sweet here. Actually they finally had to up it by $0.25, but it's still an amazing value. One egg (any style), toast, and hashbrowns? Sign me up! The omelets here are nothing to sneeze at either. The pancakes, while some may not be impressed, are among the best available to the sit-down breakfast scene. The lunch and dinner fare is fairly standard, and I've yet to find anything there that wows me, but for the early morning rush in downtown Bloomsburg there isn't a better place year-round. read more

Whenever I am passing by this town on I-80 I always drop by this diner to get breakfast. The food here is fantastic! I always get a plate of Virginia Ham, which serves a huge portion of incredible ham along with eggs, toast, hashed browns and coffee. The diner is always cold here. We are new to the area, so we stopped in on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We were seated quickly. It took several minutes before a server finally came. We asked for drinks and for her to wipe the table as it was dirty. She came back with the drinks and only wiped down a small corner of the table. We than waited for about ten minutes without anyone taking our order even though several people that came in after we did got their drinks and placed those orders. I finally had enough, we paid for our drinks and left. Not one employee asked if there was a problem. The place has extremely poor service and is dirty. We will not return. read more

Stopped for lunch on a whim. Building has a doppelgänger in Pottsville along route 61. They were Toddle House's when they first opened. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger and chips. A hand made patty, shut up !!! Had good flavor and was decent sized, I would guess 1/3 lb. I can see myself going here more. Service was fast and food was good. This place is fantastic. Great food, very cheap. 24hrs a day. Serves breakfast all day. Good sandwiches, good fries. I'm not usually a fan of potato salad, but I liked theirs. The cole slaw was not very special, but I did still enjoy it. I would highly recommend this place for inexpensive food and large portions. It's a diner and expect a diner experience. I can't stand eating somewhere that allows smoking and that turned me off.

It was good. Nothing super crazy. Some highlights were definitely the pancakes and French toast. The cheesesteak and fiesta omelette was also very good. The wheat toast was fine but nothing spectacular. We also had sausage and egg bagels which were just ok. Coffee was fine. The service was good and you can watch the chef cook behind the counter. Has all the feel of a classic greasy spoon diner, except the service takes forever. I expect breakfast, eggs, etc., to be a quick order and service. Ours took over 45 minutes. While the quality was good, it is way to slow to consider if you are hungry. I usually go to a restaurant, especially breakfast, when I am hungry. Unfortunately there is no other diner very close by. If you are willing to travel to Berwick you will find better quality food, and practically instant breakfast service. I think I will stay on 1-80 for a couple more miles next time. read more

The food here was about the same as the interior decor here, tired, old n nasty. We stopped here for breakfast/lunch after visiting the local university, and I'd recommend going elsewhere. This is a small mom and pop diner right below Bloomsburg University and across from the police station. The food is really good but the inside decor is run down and the bathroom doors need repair. They really need to invest in their infrastructure. Also this restaurant ONLY takes cash-- no cards no checks nothing else. So if you go be prepared to have cash only on hand. At least there is an ATM in their small lobby so you can get the cash you need if their machine isnt broken. I have eaten many items on the menu because its close and convenient to my home. I especially like their strawberry waffles with whip cream and their omelets are excellent. Their coffee is weak, and their cranberry juice is watered down. Their chicken and other lunch dinner menus are great. Overall not bad, just need to fix the inside and improve their coffee and juices. Also they dont serve fresh fruit or bananas etc for your oatmeal. Really wish they would offer fresh fruit. PS Their dining tables need more room between the seats and the tables. Lots of taller bigger folk have a hard time sitting down in there. read more

When I saw it was an old Toddle House and not a NJ-style diner, I had my doubts. But when you have to wait 20 minutes for a seat at a diner and it is full of college students, you know it is worth the wait and won't break your budget. I was there with seven other people after a dog show at the fairgrounds. It was a Saturday at noontime and there was no meter fees. We were all from outside the area. It was Halloween and the waitress was dressed as a 50's style waitress. Really cool! I had the stuffed cabbage rolls, perogies, and a cup of their soup of the day. Since it was Halloween, that was split pea soup! Had to laugh at that choice! The food was really good and fresh. Not huge portions, but good enough to get me through until dinner. Everything was homemade. I do think the perogies were also homemade. My friends had everything from taco salads, to omelets to gyros. Everyone liked their food. One thing you must remember about this place........cash only. Service and food were great. It's unlike diners you find in the Philly-NYC areas. It's a good find. read more
