Back in March this year, we accidentally stumbled upon Carmichael Pediatrics on accident looking for my sisters Dr's office. I needed a pediatrician for Phoenix, and they were happy to take us in right away. We did his checkup, which they gave is cute welcome gifts of mini diaper bags (for bottles and such) and were very nice, smiley with a very warm welcome... because it's a huge deal to have a baby! We started with weekly weigh-ins since Phoenix had a sensitive stomach. As the weeks and months went on, this office started to lack that warm and caring welcome we looked forward to. The woman who answered phones seemed like she was always having a bad day(several people that answered phones- if we ever got through- had horrible attitudes about the reason we would be calling). She was very short on the phone. Interrupted and cut us off as we would call and explain what we needed. She sounded angry. Sometimes, we would be on hold for 15+ minutes without anyone ever picking up. We would not get calls back when we left messages about running low on a prescription. Communication with the GI doctor from another location was challenging. We could only get his specific formula by prescription only and the company would be out for months at a time. This office didn't want to switch him to what the GI DOCTOR RECOMMENDED. This office lacks the understanding. Our insurance provided a specific formula covered by insurance, but when that formula was not available from the manufacturer, they did not want write a prescription for the only other formula available/recommended... leaving Phoenix to starve or get gravely sick by suggesting we use over the counter formula not recommended by the GI Dr. Having a baby is supposed to be a beautiful experience. This office made it seem like a hassle to even pick up the phone. As of now, we have switched pediatricians to a more professional office. read more

Let me preface this review with the fact that we are coming from Kaiser. We had to get temporary medi-cal due to my husband switching jobs. At Kaiser my babies received children's books after each visit. I knew how many children and grandchildren my children's pediatrician had and that Kaiser doctor talked to me about everything about my babies throughout the visit. Giving me all my babies stats and asking me many questions about my day to day with my newborn and toddler. That felt comforting to me. It was like taking my children to family. Going to Carmichael Pediatric was like shell shocking!! First of all, it's a children's doctor but looked like a prison. We were farmed in and out like robots. They were attempting to give my 4 month old baby a slew of shots and I had to ask what shots they were. Unacceptable. They didn't give me any of my child's stats. Which was super disappointing having come from a doctor that was communicative. I had been looking forward to this appointment for 2 months. Additionally, when they were communicating with me, it felt demeaning and as if they were annoyed. If you want to be treated like a human, and you want a great experience and for your children to not be traumatized for life just going to the doctor, then DO NOT GO HERE. Places like this is why children are afraid to go to the doctor!!! This office needs to go to a training on bedside manner. And maybe try treating EVERYONE like humans. I am updating my review to a 1 star and if I could do 0 stars I absolutely would! My most recent issue with this office has me ready to file a formal complaint with the proper boards and departments. My daughter has gone to this office since 2019. This past month I yet again called this office. I called and left a voicemail stating that my daughter was running on/off fevers for almost a month and requested for a doctor or practitioner to call me back so we could discuss causes or solutions or scheduling an appointment. No response. Fast forward after two weeks with NO reach out or response, I call again because my daughter comes home from school with an ear infection (probably the cause of the on/off fevers that COULD HAVE BEEN addressed sooner with a call back). My husband proceeds to take her to the doctor on Wednesday, the earliest date we can get time off to go. He requests drs note and is only provided one for Wednesday. I proceed to call the office back and request the note be for Tuesday wednesday and Thursday as she had to stay home for another day due to her ear still hurting. I then proceeded to have a blame game conversation with the MOA that works the front desk stating that my husband "only requested those days." So I told her "ok, well I'm calling you letting you know that we need additional days and he states that you guys didn't clarify which dates?" She sighs and says how she'll go check with the provider. She then comes back and tells me the NP will write a note for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but not Thursday since dad said that she would be fine to return to school. My husband is present for this conversation and looks at me confused because he doesn't recall saying or being asked anything along those lines. I was supposed to receive this note on Thursday and did not. I called Thursday morning and left a voicemail prior asking to speak with an office manager before the end of the week. I did not get a call. I also brought this to the attention of the MOA when I was on the phone and still did not receive a call. Friday passed and I still did not receive the updated doctor's note. On Monday I was finally able to call again and requested that the doctors note that should have been sent on Thursday be sent (the system will show this note was not triggered until MONDAY 5/20/2024 when I called. At this point I'm beyond frustrated and state that I want to speak to the office manager that has failed to reach out to me by the end of the day. When I got on the phone with the office manager, I requested that a particular provider in this office not be seeing my kids. The office manager proceeds to tell me this is not possible. I end up reaching a breaking point and tell them that I want to file a complaint and will probably be looking for a new office (which was really the only remedy this office manager was willing to give). I THEN proceed to call ROSEVILLE pediatrics which is a partnered office and express what happened to them and try to see if I can just go to their office instead and also have this provider removed. Imagine my complete and UTTER surprise when they tell me that this provider is FLAGGED already as not to see my kids. So why did the Carmichael manager escalate my frustration to the point she did versus just telling me that's not a problem and just saying it could cause issues or if we're not working then maybe you could try seeing our providers in our Roseville office? Also, my frustration with this note is that I have a friend who also uses this office who took their kids just the week before I did. She was able to get a drs note for the dates her kid missed, the date in the office PLUS the day after just like I requested. Why couldn't I be provided the same note without more of an excuse than "your child was prescribed antibiotics and isn't contagious." HER EAR STILL HURT BY THE WAY! Do you guys have no empathy for the children you are supposed to serve? How do you tell a 5 Yo suck it up buttercup in other words? Beyond horrible experience and no resolution. I did not realize I had posted this review a year ago, but please as medical providers place yourselves in the shoes of the parents and children you are helping. read more

I've been bringing my daughter here since she was a few months old. Always had a great experience but now they do not answer the phones. It's really ridiculous!!! I'm not sure who is working the front desk now but you can literally hear them put you on hold without saying a word. I've called 3 times & was on hold for 10-15mins each time NO ANSWER. I have been satisfied with the service of this practice for the past 3 yrs. between Dr. Tejeda & NP Ivy, she has been taken well care of in any medical needs. The worst experience I have ever had at a doctors office. The walls had literal feces on them. The floor was filthy. They had closed the healthy entrance, so my 6 day old newborn was forced to sit in a room full of sick people. Their answer, "Most of those are wellness checks." Total lie, these people were hacking and wheezing. Waited for almost an hour to be taken back, then the back was so ridiculously hot that my baby was screaming and sweated through his onesie. Mind you this is a baby who does not like the cold and normally loves warmth. Finally someone shows up and it's not the doctor at all, but a nurse who checked his heart rate, and said have a nice day. $125 charge. Honestly just run the other way, every single person involved with this company is incompetent. Here we are a month and a half later and they're saying they never received my copay, even though I have a receipt for it and can provide the transaction number. Just run, these people are HORRIBLE in every possible way. UPDATE 7/13/18: Still trying to get them to acknowledge they have been paid. Spoke to a very friendly lady at their billing department 7/6 which gave me hope. She said she would research my issue and call me back by Wednesday 7/11. Now when I call their billing number, it goes to an unidentified voicemail box that just says leave a message. Super cool, you've had my money since 6/27, yet you send bills with "final notice" hand written on them, trying to collect money you already have. This is just an awful awful business. I love this office my children have been going here since my oldest was born in 2014 and they have been amazing. They have changed the rooms over time to make it more childlike. I agree they do tend to take a while answering phones or getting patients scheduled but I love Dr. Ivy! Shes the best. Shes the reason I keep going here. She tends to my child. When I ask questions they are all answered. Shes not the type to push medication on children if it isnt necessary. read more

We loved Ivy too and so did the kids. Now Ivy is gone. We are constantly put on hold and told "there is one call ahead of you", but we wait and wait. The front office staff seems inexperienced. Now we are being told the babies/kids need unnecessary testing. They are all healthy! Why would we put a 2 and 4 year old through blood work they do not need? That is patient harm, medically unnecessary testing and is horrible. These kids/babies go in for well child exams...they never get sick, they are active and healthy but now all of a sudden need bloodwork? This is ridiculous, they are simply requesting tests so they can bill and get paid for something. We are looking elsewhere for pediatricians. It is a shame, this place has gone downhill. We will be reporting to the health plan fraud department and DHCS. read more

I took my son to this office for a well child check up. He was discriminated against and forced to sit in a section for "sick" children (despite the fact that he was well). They are knowingly exposing well children to communicable diseases! What kind of pediatrician deliberately exposes healthy children to illness?? Aren't Dr's suppose to make our children better? The sign in the waiting room reads to effect of: "vaccinated well children sit here" "unvaccinated healthy children and all sick children sit over there together". I posted a picture of it in the photos. My son is not fully vaccinated as he is exempt from vaccines for medical reasons (severe allergic reactions to vaccines he received in the past). Unvaccinated children should not automatically be treated as if they have a disease or illness! This policy makes no sense from a medical or scientific standpoint. A healthy child, is a healthy child, vaccinated or not. A healthy child is not a risk to any child, vaccinated or not. A sick child can get another child sick, wether the child is vaccinated or not (unless of course the "other child" is fully vaccinated against that particular illness, then they won't get the illness anyway because they are protected by the vaccine). Aren't vaccinated children supposed to be better protected from illness? Unvaccinated children are more likely to get sick with out protection from vaccines right? So why on earth should unvaccinated children be forced to sit with ill children?!?! I will never step foot in this place again. I don't support segregation of any kind or a Dr who will attempt to punish my child for not being vaccinated by purposefully exposing him to illness. Just disgusting! read more

This place is awful! I'm not sure who schedules the appointments! But for my son's 4 month check up they scheduled us on a holiday. The place wasn't even OPEN! I had called the week before to verify the date and time, and no one bothered to mention that they would be closed. Fast forward to today. My son is very sick with a wet caught. So I called and made an appointment for today at 8:50am. Show up 15 mins early. Well guess what! They decided to change my sons Dr. with out talking to me. I went to sign in and all they did was hand me a piece of paper with a phone number and address (the phone number goes out of state). So now I'm running around and playing phone tag. Just trying to get my son seen. This place is run worse then a fast food joint. I suggest taking your child else where. Just hopped on after awhile, to see a comment from the Dr. I love how he didn't address the appointment we had, and they happened to be closed. I call the day before appointments to make sure it's all good to go. No one said anything about being closed or no longer having this be my sons Dr. But now my son has a great Dr. No waiting 30 minutes after our appointment was ment to start. They have always been so understanding of what my kids need, what I need for them! I am a mom of 2 Autistic children they make sure their SAME room is available for all visits and if there lobby is full they room us immediately so I don't have a hard time, I'm so appreciative of this doctors office they make my life so much easier. These women work hard so if I have to wait on the phone longer than expected, so be it I know when it's my turn I'll be taken care of, I can't thank them enough they are all so wonderful Sonia come back to Carmichael full time!!!! read more

This medical group is part of the SutterGroup. They have recently been greatly criticized by cyber bullies who are also against vaccination. This is a good clinic which acts responsibly. They do their best to protect the safety of all their kids. There are currently a few anti-vaccinationists submitting bad reviews because their kids are asked to report to a different room than babies and vaccinated kids; they don't seem to appreciate that this is an effort on the clinic's part not to have to deny their children care, while preventing their children from potentially carrying serious vaccine-preventable diseases to other innocent kids. Many doctors just "fire" parents who refuse to vaccinate and won't see their kids at clinic, because of the risks they bring to babies at the practice. You'd think the AV parents would be grateful that a few doctors take alternate steps. read more

After 2 years of this clinic being my babies pediatrician. I have had enough.... you can never call in for an appointments . That's does not seek to need to go to the ER or urgent care . I have witness numerous times in the waiting room , the front desk answered a phone to tell patients that there 1, 2 calls ahead of you...now that's a lied . If you are not busy check in - out not any patients at you presence . Then you assisted the phone and not put the patient's on hold . I am one of the patient's that you have put me on hold for more than 30mins . It's really unprofessional (coming from someone who works in the Medical Field ). The only reason why'd we stay was because of Ivy : my babies love her and we will miss her . But decided that this place isn't the place that I will want come continue brining my kids too . The nurse practitioners and ESPECIALLY SONIA the office manager talks a bunch of crap about the patients and their parents and they were all extremely rude to me when i worked there for NO REASON. They all have major attitude problems. One of the NP's would even take one of the rooms for herself just so she could a breast pump. which would make us super behind on patients since we only had 4 rooms and one other NP. I don't really know where to begin... My daughter is 6 months old & has been coming to Carmichael Pediatrics since her 1st check up. In those 6 months, not ONCE have I called and NOT been put on a 12+ minute hold, NOT ONCE! The line EVERY time I have called goes as follows: "Thank you for calling Carmichael Pediatrics. There's 1 patient ahead of you, can you hold?" Now when I say every time, I mean EVERY time. Aside from the times, the recording has answered, option 0 chosen, to be transferred to yet another voicemail in which it states "...we will get back to you by the end of the business day." I have physically sat in the office (while waiting to be called back for an appointment) and have personally witnessed the calls being answered and being told the same thing. Now I am no math genius, yet if the phone rings 3 times & by the 3rd call, you are still saying "...1 patient ahead of you..." is that not incorrect?! I then witness that same person go on about whatever it may be they are doing, whether it be highlighting something, running copies, etc...THIS IS COMPLELEY UNACCEPTABLE! TERRIBLE PATIENT CARE! If there are no patients in your immediate presence, your first order of business should be to address the phone lines. Period. The fact that you allow parents to hold for those extended times, is UNACCEPTABLE. The fact that you allow your voicemail to be "full" with NO returned calls, is UNACCEPTABLE. Today's incident has topped my cake! I have been calling since 1/14/17 trying to speak to someone in regards to an issue my baby girl is having with her skin. On the 14th, I was greeted with the traditional "...1 patient ahead of you..." & was then put on hold. Now I am a work-from-home mom, so while I was put on hold, I continued working. It wasn't until my phone screen lit up with an incoming message, did I realize that I was STILL on hold...13 minutes later! I then hung up, IMMEDIATELY called back & was greeted with the same line! Infuriated, I hung up. I have called and left TWO messages since then & have heard from no one...until today. I called multiple times today, to be greeted immediately by the answering service. Option 0 (receptionist) was chosen. That call was also answered by a voicemail...which was full. Makes perfect sense, right? I let a few hours pass & called back (closer to 4 pm); my call was answered Yelpers! But please note, I was greeted with "Thank you for holding...". Now, you are probably thinking the same thing I did 'Holding? I just called you...' but I didn't say anything. After being told that the next available appointment wouldn't be until NEXT week, I asked to speak to the Office Manager; come to find out, the woman I am speaking with is the office manager, Sonya, whom, in my professional opinion, was not helpful. For a parent who just told you they have been trying to contact someone in your office since 1/14/17 & have left multiple messages, you typically try to accommodate the parent/patient. Not be given bogus excuses such as: 1. I was the 1st person to bring to her attention that messages aren't being returned. 2. She's "not sure why..." the statement on the voicemail says what it does..."It's old..." 3. "The office is VERY busy & so are the phones." 4. "I don't know..." Now as someone who has been in the medical field, providing patient care for almost a decade (& @ least 3+ of those years being in some sort of lead position), telling a patient "I don't know" when asked a question in regards to your practice standards, is, by all means, UNACCEPTABLE! To try and convince me that your office is busy EVERY day, ALL day long is not going to happen. I beg to differ! Especially seeing as though, I have sat in the office, once almost TWO HOURS past my daughter's SCHEDULED appointment & witnessed how "busy" the office is. Aside from Ivy (WE LOVE HER!), there is NO other reason for us to stay...I will be taking this up with my insurance company & finding another Ped. We'll miss Ivy! I am currently waiting to hear back from the Office Administrator...we'll see if THAT message gets returned. By no means, when it comes to my daughter, will I let this pass. read more

I have been to several Doctors for my kids, and I love this place. Both my children have always gotten right in if I needed an appointment, the wait time once in the office is typical, 10-15 minutes... My kids LOVE the staff and their Doctors, and always ask even for the littlest scrape if they can go see the Dr. They love her, and they always get to pick stickers when they leave. They staff is very accommodating and always informative. I needed letter of release for daycare and got them immediately, referrals to other paces for additional needs, and got them immediately. I read the other review calling this a MEDICAL DUMPING GROUND .... seriously I have had Medi-cal for a loooong time being a single mother and this is the best and closest office I have been to, to a non medi-cal office. They genuinely care about my kids, their health, and their treatments... I didn't feel this a all at any of the 9 plus visits my kids have been to during their appointments. read more

Horrible...my 2 year old son was having absent seizures and i tried to get a appointment they pushed me out 3weeks so took him to the ER turns out he had a cancerous brain tumour had surgery then took him in for his check up and dr.
