Really fantastic restaurant here in San Miguel! We have gone in for a late lunch two times and the service was over-the-top, the food really really incredible. The chef knows his stuff!! The first time we went we shared a huge ribeye steak that was seasoned and fire grilled to perfection. And the asparagus with the garlic seasoning was amazing. Next time we went we had the Cauliflower appetizer to die for, guacamole on par with my own, and steak tacos paired with a very delicious Spanish wine. We couldn't eat it all so we had a nice repeat for dinner that night. They have a Friday night street taco tasting that we have not been able to enjoy yet, but if it was anything like the tacos we had today OMG! I highly recommend this place! They are making a very successful effort at creating a remarkable dining experience in San Miguel. read more

We have been here twice before and enjoyed both times. We decided to visit again on Saturday night-obviously things had changed since our last visit. We arrived around 8:30pm and were the only table. The flat screen TVs were showing Ultimate Cage Fighting. The atmosphere was very odd. The waitress could not answer in complete sentences, only "yes" and "no" or simply, "because". We ordered the baked cauliflower dish which we enjoyed on our previous visits. They changed it a bit. The sauce was different but overall, the cauliflower was still enjoyable. We ordered tacos, rib eye and shrimp. The rib eye tacos were tiny cubes of meat and fat, charred to death and sat on what tasted like a store bought guacamole. Not very tasty. The same for the shrimp tacos, not horrid, but nothing to get excited about. The atmosphere is the killer. It's cold and uninviting. Wrestling on big screens and monosyllabic waitresses double the uneasiness. Yes, something has changed here and it's also changed our minds. Doubtful if we will return again. read more

This place is terrific! Had the cauliflower and octopus for appetizers and both blew us away. Four of us shared the big platter of rib eye and it was perfectly cooked. Wine from the connected wine shop at retail prices, excellent desserts and the best service in SMA I've had over 2 10 day visits. We had 2 appetizers, 2 bottles of wine, ribeye for 4 and 2 desserts for 120$ Carnevino far exceeded our expectations. read more

Located in the same facility as the world-renowned Instituto Allende of San Miguel de Allende, CarneVino is one of the best sources for wine, high-end meat and deli items. They added a restaurant beyond the store (a few months ago) that we tried this Thursday evening. So the good versus the bad: the food is great, the wine list is untouchable, and the price is very friendly versus the service being a little sluggish. In fairness, though, the service reflected a nightmare order by a table of four: cauliflower appetizer, shrimp tacos with grilled corn, tortilla soup with BBQed asparagus, flank steak with baked potato and flank steak with truffle fries. The presentation was well executed but not simple. So it's hardly surprising that pulling it all together at the same time took time and plenty of talent. So, in fairness, the service delays were mostly on us. Wine by the bottle can be ordered from the adjoining store's extensive selection at retail with corkage added on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights only. Retail is VERY reasonably priced; we enjoyed a Spanish Rioja white under $10. Add in a couple of bottles of wine and we had a great dinner for 4 for under $100 with a decent tip. read more

Food had great flavor! Surprising - we were the only table in the house, but the service and food were outstanding. My only complaint - we tried the day earlier to come in for a glass of wine at the bar and despite the 100% empty restaurant were told we could not just have a drink. At the BAR. We had to eat a meal, or nothing. Huh. Strange. I'm glad we returned, though, we had one of the best meals I've ever had in SMA. read more

Amazing melt-in-your-mouth steak. Fine service although the place wasn't very busy on Mother's Day evening. BTW, there IS a corkage fee everyday, no exceptions. I think we had a 225 peso bottle off the shelf which ended up being 325 or thereabouts. In other words- not a high corkage percentage at all compared to other establishment. I strongly recommend CarneVino for its food and friendly service. read more

Yummy place! I didn't have any wine the aguachile was by far the best one I've ever had! I had the 3 taco de arachera (I could have done without the melted cheese) very filling. My husband had the NY stake also very good. read more

We went there last weekend-lots of room for a party of six. We loved the food and the presentation; good service too. My short ribs were wonderful, and my husband said his steak was the best he's had in San Miguel. As the names implies, mostly meat options, and great wine selection. read more
