Fountain courtyard and entrance to El Correo.

Beautifully restored cantera stone building dating from the XVIII century just a block away from San Francisco square, it's home to different restaurants, bars and a boutique hotel. This restaurant has a lovely and cool patio in the courtyard next to the cantera fountain where you can beat the heat with a refreshing drink. They have a full bar , so my husband enjoyed a beer and a michelada and I had a whole carafe of agua de sandía ( watermelonade). My his band ordered their signature tortilla soup and it did not disappoint! Loaded with chicken and tortilla strips and topped with plenty of avocado, it's a mean in itself. It comes with chopped onion, chilpotle chiles and cream that you can add to taste. I ordered the enchiladas del Potrero which were delicious even though the potatoes were a bit undercooked. Very attentive service by Julian. Highly recommend!

We discovered this restaurant on Yelp and immediately decided we had to try the enchiladas. When we arrived, we were initially offered seats inside the front area, but we noticed the inviting patio in the back and asked to sit there instead. The patio was spacious, open, and had a wonderfully relaxing vibe. To start, we shared the guacamole and queso fundido, along with some mezcalitas. Even with a party of seven, these appetizers were more than enough and absolutely delicious. For our main courses, the enchiladas suizas were a must-try. Some of us opted for half red and half green sauce -- and I have to say, the green sauce was incredible! I added rice to my plate (a small extra charge), and it was a simple but perfect addition. My son ordered the arrachera plate and really enjoyed it as well. We'll definitely be coming back the next time we're in SMA! The service was outstanding -- we stayed for two hours and never felt rushed. In fact, as it got darker, our waiter even brought over a small light for the table, which was such a thoughtful touch. In regard to cost, it is in line with the rest of SMA, 200-300 pesos a person, but incredibly worth every single peso!

After seeing so many absolutely stunning little patios and plazas, I'm so glad we got to finally enjoy one of them at El Correo. We were able to grab a table during a weekend dinnertime which was great! - Sopa de Tortilla - This is the thing to get at this restaurant and I thought the soup was okay. I didn't expect the flavors to be so light as the broth seemed to be mainly tomato and vegetables base. I wish they had some more ingredients in there such as chicken or tomato chunks as tortilla, slices of avocado, and mozarella cheese was an interesting combination. - Enchiladas Suiza - This was probably one of the lightest tasting enchiladas I ever had. Definitely needed the complimentary chipotle and sour cream to for the pop of flavors. - Fajitas "El Correo" - Also one of the lightest tasting fajitas I ever had, see the pattern? I did appreciate the juicy bell peppers that were on the dish. The chicken, although did not have a lot of flavor, was very juicy. Overall, I'm not sure I would come here for the food as the food didn't have a lot of flavor, not in a bad way, but the service was fantastic and so was the ambiance. I will say that if you're sick or just want something refreshing this could be a good option for you.

If you are in San Miguel de Allende please visit this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. The food was a solid 10 and the service was a perfect 12. Less than a block away from the plaza.

I have to admit that this was very low on the list of meals I had in San Miguel, and I probably wouldn't come back. This place seems to cater to an older American audience, and the food they serve reflects that. I ordered the tamales rojos and was surprised to find that there was no meat inside the tamales -- just the corn mixture. Maybe that's on me for not double checking or reading the fine print, but it overall made for a not very interesting meal that was lacking in flavor. The tortilla soup wasn't bad, but I've had better in the US. They do make a great margarita here though.

Small local restaurant that serves traditional Mexican dishes (recommended by a local). Not one of the "trendy" SMA restaurants. The inside is quaint with a homelike feel and staff is friendly. We got the enchiladas and the fajitas, both were tasty and generous portions, but there are so many outstanding restaurants not sure I'd specifically come back here.

Super friendly and casual place to get a good lunch. We got chips & guacamole, cactus soup and chicken taquitos. Definitely a go to place for locals and expats living here.

    Sopa de fideo

The soup!!! Fideo soup and caldo de pollo. Extraordinary taste- like mi abuela made it! Limonada mineral was homemade and refreshing. Don't miss out on this place. Super authentic home cooking! Service outstanding!!!

Love this sweet authentic Mexican restaurant. Musicians wander in and played while we had two different meals...Huevos Ranceros for breakfast one morning, and delicious soup and tacos and enchiladas for dinner! Superb! Great waiters and delicious margaritas! Bravo!

This is one of our group of 8 visitors' (we come to San Miguel every February for two weeks) favorite places for a yummy, very reasonably-priced dinner in a colorful art-filled atmosphere. We have been here four times in the past, and it's always been pleasing. It's a cozy restaurant, not very big, but very accommodating to their guests, just a few feet from the main town square by the Cathedral church. They do not take reservations, so as a larger sized group we got there by 5:30 pm. This year we chose it for the final night, which tells you that we hold it in our highest esteem! Our appetizer was a couple of orders of their excellent quacamole with chips, served in its pretty rose-like presentation, and of course most of us had margaritas, too, which are served in giant glasses. Dinner entrees selected included my albondigas meatballs in the mild pipian-rojo sauce, which was absolutely delicious plus others of our group had the chicken tortilla soup, chile relleno, and the taquitos plate. Most were accompanied by rice and beans and tortillas. We look forward to continuing to return.

    Brunch fish Big and tasty

We went to this place for a Friday brunch. The place was packed. We waited for a few minutes to find a table. The service was friendly and timely. The menu had English translation. However the waiters just spoke Spaniel. We ordered a few brunch dishes with fried tortillas under a blanket of sauce and different meats, beef and chicken. They were tasty. We recommend this place for brunch.

Good food! Small, quite, family run place. The servers were friendly. We had chilaquiles and huevos rancheros, which were good!
