I sailed on the first Carnival Cruise launch by Carnival Cruise line in 1 1/2 years since the pandemic. The trip was outstanding. They did a great job on the embarkation process, even with the Covid checks the process was very smooth and smooth. In fact, faster than the embarkation process prior to the pandemic. Everything was normal except masks were required embarking/departing the ship at ports and at the Galveston cruise port. I have sailed with Carnival Cruise lines on 3 previous ships, this was my first trip on the Carnival Vista, this was my favorite cruise and ship thus far. The Ship has all the same restaurants as the other ships, in addition it has an IMAX Theater and Sky Ride. The food was the same as the other ships, some of my favorites were Guy Fieri's Burger Joint & Pig & Anchor BBQ. The comedians at the comedy club were amazing, and the IMAX Theater (an additional cost) was as good as a normal IMAX Theater. The service throughout the cruise was top-notch, from the formal dinning staff, housekeeping staff, excursion staff and bar staff. I've been on this ship a few times now, and it's definitely a nice experience. The ship is super clean and there are constantly employees cleaning up the areas. The food on the ship is fantastic, especially the dessert. I try not to get the cruise 10 haha, but the dessert makes it a total struggle. I love the dining rooms. They are very well-designed and maintained. The lido deck is a breeze to navigate even with tons of hungry people. The employees ship-wide are very pleasant and helpful. The spa could use some work with their employees, but overall I enjoy my interactions with the vast majority of the employees on the ship. I love how Carnival has upgraded disembarking! This was my third Carnival cruise and I was disappointed. We chose the Carnival Vista for a May 2022 cruise with stops in Montego Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. There will be a few categories to cover: The cruise director, Kendall "Fire" was obnoxious, much like the Stanley stucco character, Caesar Flickerman, in the Hunger Games. Due to her personality, we intentionally avoided those events where she was the host, which, unfortunately, were so many. Personalities are different and sometimes not for everyone, and, due to this, it does not make or break an overall experience with me as there are over seven million people on this planet; so, statistically, there will be many personalities that clash. One major complaint was the food, which was absolutely bland. As a shareholder of Carnival, as I believe in their mission, I was caught off guard with the lack of flavor. This was of note because the food, pre-pandemic, was pretty tasty and something I looked forward to indulging. Another major complaint was the untimely execution of the excursions. We opted in for two excursions across the three stops: one return 80 minutes late and well beyond when we were to return to the ship and the other started late and shortchanged us where it counted for us. On top of that, we were looking forward to a hot plate of jerk chicken with red beans and rice; yet, due to the egregious delay, we ended up getting cold food in a takeout container to eat on the bus on the return ride to the ship. Yet another major concern was having to make 13 different trips to guest relations. It is understandable to go a time or two but 13 amongst two adults is eyebrow raising. Moving on to another major concern was the casino. Having been raised in a home with a chronic smoker, the casino reeked from day one of tobacco. It was so foul of an odor that we decided not to throw our money away on machines or tables as a form of entertainment. Onward to another major concern, it is 2022 and, compared to the 80's and 90's, smoking is not nor has not been trendy in a long time, and it is an aged and obsolete pastime that lingers around. Due to the common customer being a non-smoker, there really is no need to have more than one designated smoking area. Having grown into technology, WiFi is not a lifeline for daily life in my household; however, to appease the teenagers, we opted in to spend over $200 for internet access so we could chat when combined with our international cellular plans in order to talk. Had we known about the Carnival App Chat feature for $5 per person beforehand, we would have purchased that instead. Having gone back through everything, I wanted to verify there was no oversight on my part, and I could not find that information prior to boarding. My concern and recommended corrective action was submitted to the post-cruise survey, which I hope is taken into consideration for others to potentially save some funds. The biggest complaint was the final day and the entire process to get off of the ship. The printout was very vague and the timeframe was specific. We did not arrive to port on time and the process was so unorganized; it took 150 minutes to get off of the ship. It would have been more bearable if the step-by-step process was explained better on the printout. Bottom Line: It will be a very long time before we give Carnival another shot. As I type this, I am exploring other options with other cruise lines for the next booking within the year. My wish is that my experience was a one off and that everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the vacation of a lifetime. read more

We had some real experiences on this cruise: 1 my wife's boarding pass printed out wrong and we had issues getting on the boat... but Carnival was great the whole time! 2 we were a family group of 32 people... kids, cousins, parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents! Talk about having difficulties in getting everyone on the same page! Carnival does have an AP for that though. 3 on one of our excisions our 5 year old was supposed to be free but we got charged... Carnival got it corrected right away. 4 my wife almost got hit by a LARG fishing boat while we were on our snorkeling excursion. She literally looked up and the boat was right there... when I saw her she was hanging from the front anchor pulling herself up out of the water trying not to get run over. I swam out and rescued her! This is dead serious... it was really quite scary! I'm glad I used to be a life guard! 4 on our excursion in Jamaica my two sons and I climbed the waterfalls... I highly recommend one adult per child if your going to climb! 5 my sister in-law got married on the boat. 6 my wife got a stomache virus and was sick for 2 days... REALLY SICK! 7 my older son tried the ropes corse and as we were on it it got so windy he freaked and he had too be taken off by an instructor. I couldn't do it because I was on a different level... on a totally amazing note though he did complate the medium side twice the next day and the hard side the day after that! He was so awesome! 8 the bride came down with the flu on disembark day... she was so sick she had to almost be carried off the boat. 9 when we came back and got off my in-laws car was dead. It would not jump. We had to find, buy,and change out the battery. 10 my wife and I came down with the flu the day after we got home! However believe it or not we had an Complete BLAST!! Sooooo much great fun! On the boat: 1 bars galore 2 food 24/7 3 Our room was good size with two bathrooms!! 4 there were 2 big pools with huge water slides 5 there was a very nice ropes corse... medium and hard levels 6 the excursions were awesome with our kids! Despite the near death experience. 7 my sister in-law got married on the boat. 8 they had skyrides that were a ton of fun. 9 we played foosball with my brother in-law, drank beer, micro brew beer, made in the brewery on the boat, and listened to karaoke twice and had Just the MOST fun ever. It really was great just hanging out! 10 they had an imax on the ship! Saw jamanji 2 with the whole family! 11 the comedy clubs were hilarious. 12 service was awesome. 13 we got to meet family from the grooms side... some very cool and fun people! 14 they had a kids club that kept the boys until 1am! 15 it was beautiful weather. 16 we had the best pics we have ever taken right on the boat!!!!!!! 17 there were bunches of free current movies avail on tv for the kids when we were in the room! 18 all the ice cream the boys could eat. 19 there were tons of events shows and things to do every day. 20 my phone didn't work on the cruise! No work possible! Seriously... it was an awesome cruise! So good we are signing up to do another one with family again. read more

The short version: A great cruise with wonderful food, and exciting excursions. Try the "3 Specialty Restaurants for $35" pass! The Maya Island excursion on Roatan was relaxing and the rehab animals were amazing. The Rendezvous Quay Excursion in Belize is Great! Saturday, April 23 - Carnival has a whole new boarding procedure, but it seems cumbersome and needlessly time consuming. The only benefit we noticed was that entering the ship was easier. There was no long line on the gangway; once you climbed up the boarding ramp, you could walk right on the ship and head to Lido deck for lunch.) One other major change is in their Safety briefing at muster stations. Now, all passengers must go to their muster station and have a five minute demonstration of the lifejackets and proper procedure to receive emergency siren sounds. It was very quick and easy for us, but we heard many announcements begging passengers to go and do their safety briefing so that we could leave on time. After our safety briefing, we went to Lido (Deck 10) for lunch. We had 2 days at sea and enjoyed the specialty restauranst (for a fee). Note that if you eat at the steakhouse on the 1st night, you get a free bottle of wine! First Stop - Mahogany Bay Mahogany Bay, Roatan. We took the Carnival excursion to Maya Isle and had a blast as well as a great lunch. Take time to see all the rehab animals! Next stop - Belize. The excursion to Rendezvous Quay for snorkeling and lunch was excellent!! Lastly, Cozumel. Shopping and lunch at the port (because we've been there so often). Higly recommend: Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Cucina del Capitano, JiJi's, Bonzai, the SkyRide, the Ropes Course, and the Hubble movie at the Imax. read more

Where do I start itineraries that we paid for it got changed excursions we paid for all 3 got canceled and we got put on a bubble tour for 3 separate ones and all 3 we complained and got half of our money back nothing like the brochure. The food throughout the cruise ship was absolutely horrible besides the Asian restaurant named bonsai sushi. It was our first and last cruise on carnival. We had to complain about two patrons one that worked the service desk and another Who worked the arcade area. We could not wait to get off the cruise and when it came to embarkation we were on the sixth deck they called 15 through 10 and then 1 through 5 and they're like oh well you can go ahead and go now after we waited almost 2 hours to get off the damn ship. The shows sucked. If you go to the bar to get a soda the guys look at you like you're bothering them like you're bothering them because you're not gonna tip for a soda which was free because we paid in advance. The cruise Director Kendra who kept calling her self Kindle fire with her byeeeeeeeee after every damn announcement made me want to jump ship and swim home. The first stop Roatan, Honduras should not be a port that place was scary as fuck. The pictures are from Cozumel which was OK but we couldn't get to do the shark dive snorkel that we wanted to do it took us to a private island but the water wasn't crystal clear we really couldn't snorkel at all and that was the only day the weather was nice and they shortened our trip on this island because they were running behind schedule. We have sailed Carnival Vista two years in a row and it is our favorite Carnival ship to date. I would give it five stars, but the debarkation process in Galveston is sooooo slow. We docked about 8 AM and were not allowed to leave until 10:30 AM. We opted for the anytime dining this trip instead of a set dining time. I won't do that again. We didn't get great service from any of the our waiters. Now for the positives. Schwartz was the best cruise director. High energy and always everywhere. Loved Guy Fieri's burger joint. His barbecue restaurant was okay. I started each morning with a freshly prepared omelette. For lunch I usually started with a salad from the Serenity deck, an adults only section of the ship. If you want to just lie around and relax ion the sun there are so many places you can go. The Vista holds 4,000 passengers but it doesn't feel crowded until all 4,000 want to get off at one time. They have a great fitness center with bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, and nautilus equipment. You have to spend some time here to work off all that food and drink. But the best part of this cruise was discovering Elizabeth Ann Setzer in the Piano Bar. Great vocal talent, piano player, and great audience interaction. The crew is great, however it doesn't seem as germ-free as other lines I've been on. I seldom saw the handrails being disinfected. The thermal suite is poorly laid out. The heated tile loungers are not in a space by themselves-a small hot tub is right next to them. People don't realize it's a quiet space and talk loudly back and forth. when I asked for a refund they said they couldn't which isn't true. A friend obtained a refund on different Carnival ship. instead I was offered another service. The swimming pool is tiny. if you're on a budget I suppose it's ok. Can't rate because we never got to take this cruise. After taking minimum 10 cruises with Carnival and hoping to begin again after Covid we are done! We were scheduled to leave Galveston 1-7-23. We became ill then tested positive for Covid 19 on 1-2-23. We immediately called Carnival, we're told to Email the documentation and a refund would be processed. We emailed the positive tests (pcr) from the lab/pharmacy on 1-2-23 along with all of the required information with a request for a refund as stated on Carnivals website. We then get an email that they will Issue a future cruise credit. This begins the nightmare dealing with various departments over the phone. Some employees knew the Carnival policy and some did not. We printed the Carnival policy on 1/4/23 which states " To qualify for the FCC or refund, guest must immediately notify Carnival of the cancellation (within 24 hours of the of receiving a positive COVID-19 result) and no later than noon on the date of embarkation." Carnival is not disputing that we sent the required information within the required timeframe, in fact they confirmed that it was received. Some employees know the policy and said yes we are do refund and others do not know their own employers policy and say absolutely no refunds. So far no resolution. Some Carnival employees seem to want to be helpful while others have been downright rude and not helpful at all. They have always been quick to take our money but when due a refund they are of no help. I guess your choice is either travel knowing you have Covid or get a future cruise credit wether you want to or not. Apparently Carnival does not care if active Covid passengers board their ships. First cruise since Covid - very disappointing. there was practically no entertainment and the food quality and choices was less than optimal. Most of our trip consisted of burgers and pizza with an occasional dinner in the main restaurant. The Buffet food was not to the level it had been in the past. This was the first year that we brought a child with us and instead of giving us a heads up that anyone in the state room has the ability to charge your card on file they negated this information and our 13-year-old ended up charging over $600 in the fun shops that they would not take off or return the merchandise! Be careful!!! make sure that you ask them to Place a spending limit on your child's sale and sign card. This may be our last carnival cruise we had several other passengers tell us that Royal Caribbean was a much better value so will be trying them next year. read more

I have cruised with Carnival for all my cruises so I don't have much to compare with. I have noticed the food at the buffet being mainly bland. Not sure why the Mongolian wok got moved to the restaurant. That was a major plus to the buffet. Now you have to go and sign in old school with the host. Why not allow people to use reservation on the app like the restaurant JiJi? It's at the restaurant too. Breakfast not sure why the melons are always so freaking hard. Scrambled eggs are horrible so I end up in the omelet line like alot of guest. I do go to the dining room most of the time but when u want quick you either sacrifice flavor or wait in lines. Now why is it so hard to get a COLD can of soda? I always get the cheers pkg but I like to get a cold drink of soda not a barely cool one add it over ice so now it's flat. Who likes flat soda. I went on this cruise because me and my family needed a break like many other people after Covid restrictions. We previously went on other cruises and had a wonderful time so why not. Well let me be honest. I wish we would have our money. The food was not that good. Lots of tasteless meals. The same repeated dishes on the buffets. Guys burgers was bland and they serve them with cold to like warm fries. It so bad that by Thursday I couldn't eat another bite. I even settled for chicken nuggets at dinner. The meals just were not good or anything to brag on. Most people just kept going to the ice cream machine. Then the worst part was the manager Jeanine who was rude and not a good person at all. I accidentally booked a cruise and there was no one at the shore excursion desk to ask questions so I purchased online. Well we went on the excursion to a park in Cozumel. The only one they go too and we went before. However, they changed the tour and didn't tell us. We had to pay for our own way to the park. Then we we got their there is a long line to get a arm band. There was not staff member at the park to assist any visitors. Many people were confused. The staff stood around speaking in Spanish and not helping or providing any customer service to us the guests. The one place to eat food was horrible!!! The drinks were watered down. We had enough and returned to the ship after paying again for transportation. I went immediately to the shore excursion desk and had to want for a return call from Jeanine she was hostile and hollering. She said s to sad so bad. We should have read the instructions on the small print. She was very ignorant and went all the way to the carnival cruise management with no help. Don't do the Cozumel excursion. Jeanine I complained on her and the things she said and told them to fire her. They refused to give our money back after we only was gone two hours off the ship and immediately complained.Now those were the bad things so let me talk about some good things. The rooms were ok. We had a suite but the do need upgrades desperately. The water was hot when we needed it. Our room attendant was kind and remembered our names as they always do. The sofa bed was hard as a brick and even with a comforter it still was hard. But the room attendant was great. The room service was good also. The spa was great we had two each. The spa lady MiMi was wonderful and did really well. The others were great too. We compared notes after so no problems with the spa. The really disappointing thing was there is nothing for babies to do under two. They wouldn't even let the babies play in the splash pad supervised. My grandson was so miserable. They don't even watch them in the daycare because their Uber two years of age. Carnival should be ashamed of themselves. They could have events for all ages. The pools are small and old. A lot of people couldn't swim cause it's as so overcrowded. They also don't have comfortable chairs for large people. The furniture is just as old as inside. I did like the Caribbean dj. Savannah was the person they had like a hype person. Everyone so so sick of her doing the same line dances. People was saying they was tired of hearing her voice. They overworked her. She was trying her hardest to help people have fun but it didn't work. I would don't go this cruise at all boring and to old. Bad food and management. read more
