If anything, it's some of the customers around us who were slightly the issue, but it's America's 250th birthday and everyone was having the best time...little stuff ain't gonna wreck our day at all. We did the 24-mile island tour (upgraded to it, originally booked the sea life) and so glad we did this!! So cool, was able to see the city from above. Our pilot was great, knowledgeable and flew us safely around the island, I highly recommend this activity if you're in the area. Thank you, Galveston Helicopters crew...you were all awesome! Galveston Party Boats was a great deep sea fishing experience! I was very surprised that some…read moreothers didn't have the same experience. The 12 hr fishing trip starts at 0730 and ends at 1930. Some people in our group had gone before and they recommended showing up at 0530 to get checked in, and make sure we were one of the first people in line to get a prime table in the inside cabin of the boat. Just fyi there's only so much space indoors, if you're late, you'll most likely be sitting on the outside deck where's it's definitely hot during the summer. We went during the end of July and from what I've heard this is prime RED SNAPPER season. Just know that federal law limits red snapper to 2 per person with a minimum length of 16" to keep it. Other fish, for the most part are unlimited depending on their size and type of fish you catch, like vermilion snapper for example. As far as the experience goes, expect a 4 hr boat ride out to sea, 4 hrs of fishing, then 4 hr boat ride back to Galveston. This is a full day event. They let you bring food and non alcoholic drinks on board as long as you use a small soft cooler or backpack only. No big hard coolers or alcohol allowed. Luckily they also have a grill onboard with a variety of snacks, burgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, drinks, and beer for sale. That double bacon cheeseburger was SO GOOD! After you get back to Galveston, there are guys waiting to clean/filet your fish for a small price if you want as well. Enjoy, I'll definitely be back again!

There was also an onboard bartender/host, Emma who helped us make and serve our drinks, which made things super easy and enjoyable. We did have to bring all of our own food, drinks and snacks, so definitely keep that in mind when planning your trip. Everything went great, though I did feel like the trip was cut a bit short--we ended up docking about 20 minutes early, a few of our guests had arrived about 10 minutes late. (Our fault) But that took a total of 30 min from our trip . Other than that small detail, we all really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely consider booking again for another celebration. Our Carnival Breeze cruise was a fun trip, with a great mix of entertainment, activities, dining,…read moreand time to relax. Our cruise director was Adam, and his signature "Cheerio!" became one of the little things we'll remember from the trip. Our cabin steward was wonderful. He introduced himself within an hour of our room opening, quickly brought the blue blanket and fan I requested, cleaned our room daily, made the bed, brought fresh towels, and left towel animals. He was always friendly, remembered my name, and even noticed and reported a balcony leak that maintenance fixed within 24 hours. Our head server in the Blush Dining Room, Phung, and her assistants, Idewa and Gerald, were fantastic. They were attentive, fast, and especially patient with our kids. Phung went above and beyond, even recommending Filipino food available off the regular menu. The main dining room food was decent and, in my opinion, better than the buffet. One thing to note is that there was no lobster or escargot offered in the main dining room during our cruise. Food options are plentiful. The buffet is always packed. Guy's Burger Joint and BlueIguana Cantina are included/free (BlueIguana also has some paid options), and both can have long lines. Bagels at Sea is worth the wait--the bagels are small, but you can order multiple. The line may be short but can move slowly. Pig & Anchor is included/free, but it was mediocre and definitely not Texas BBQ. Overall, the food is okay, but there's something for everyone. I purchased the CHEERS! Zero Proof package and thought it was worth it. It includes mocktails, specialty coffees, sodas, energy drinks, and milkshakes. There's a 10-minute wait between drinks. The package is cheaper to purchase before the cruise, and not every adult in the cabin has to purchase it. The Carnival Hub app was extremely useful throughout the cruise. We could check the daily itinerary, activity times, and hours for restaurants, shops, pools, shows, and different areas throughout the ship. It also allows you to chat with your companions on the cruise for $5 per person for the entire cruise, not $5 per day. You can purchase the chat feature for multiple people through one account as long as you add them as companions. There is something to do for everyone of all ages, whether you want to relax, participate in activities, or meet and have fun with other cruisers. There were also fun theme nights that gave everyone a chance to dress up, participate, and enjoy the evening together. We also heard about a hidden spot on Deck 9 at the front of the ship, but unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to check it out. One thing to keep in mind: food isn't allowed in the Ovation Theater or casino areas--drinks only. There are separate smoking and non-smoking casinos on different floors, though the non-smoking casino is much smaller. Also, tea time is only offered on sea days, so plan accordingly if you want to attend! Overall, the crew, service, activities, and variety made this a trip to remember. SHIP / OVERALL EXPERIENCE: The ship's layout is horrible, and the Breeze is OLD, rusty, and in serious disrepair. It desperately needs TLC and honestly feels like it should have been dry-docked years ago. We heard the same thing OUT LOUD from many other guests. The SEWER SMELL throughout the ship was absolutely awful -- one of the worst parts of the entire trip. There were also far too many rude, disruptive guests with very little staff intervention. Kids were farting in elevators and laughing, running downstairs to repeat it in the next elevator, screaming through hallways, and knocking on cabin doors and running. We reported this several times. One staff member actually told us they "can't/don't say anything because then we won't get tips." At Guy's Burger Joint, 20+ teenage boys cut directly to the ordering point in a very long line. Guests were furious. The Carnival employee saw the entire thing and did NOTHING. A fight started -- and he still just watched. There was ZERO beverage service in the casino. Check our records -- we barely had anything to drink (in there), although we sure DONATED plenty of money! An ADULT defecated in the pool. Everyone had to be evacuated. Absolutely disgusting. FASTER TO THE FUN was basically useless. Our ticket reflected boarding between 8:00-9:00, yet we were not allowed to board until after 11:00. During debarkation, we were simply placed in line with everyone else, pass or no pass. The only real benefit was the Guest Services line, which we needed because of several issues, including problems with the HUB App. Drink quality was wildly inconsistent around the ship. The same drink tasted completely different from bar to bar, with no apparent recipe standard. Some alcohol tasted like cheap rubbing alcohol. The late-night Lido "buffet" felt much more like a continental breakfast/snack setup than what was promoted. The final TWO days became nonstop begging for survey scores, especially in dining areas: "Please take the survey," jokes about "10 being good," etc. It became exhausting and uncomfortable. This did NOT come from our dining room servers. Carnival also refused to let us bring bottled water onboard because of "reducing plastic," yet one of the first things we saw in our stateroom was bottled water in PLASTIC for $4.50 each. That felt incredibly hypocritical. TEAM MEMBERS WHO DESERVE RECOGNITION: Our room steward, HASTO, was wonderful -- kind, polite, low-key in the best way, and simply a good human. Dining Room: RASMUDI, ROWAN, and TENDAI were outstanding. They were kind, efficient, gracious, and genuinely served with heart. They knew how to "read the room," meet guests where they were, and never made us feel uncomfortable if we didn't care for something. They simply offered another option or accommodated a special request. THEY are why we returned every night. Rasmudi is also an excellent team leader. He was always respectful and kind to Rowan and Tendai -- never demanding. Guests notice that too. And yes, Rasmudi, you ARE funny! SERENITY / "LADIES NIGHT": We were sold a special "Ladies Night" experience beginning at 8:00. My adult daughter and I arrived early and were excited. While waiting, we watched a male employee remove champagne glasses upside down from a container, swipe each glass across his SHIRT to flip it, then place it on the counter -- repeatedly. Gross. He then poured mimosas. My daughter accepted one; it contained a tiny amount of champagne and was filled to the brim with orange juice. He clearly did not know the ratio. At 8:00, more ladies arrived. Staff began whispering and scattering around while everyone sat wondering when the event would begin. Three additional women arrived unprepared and were encouraged to return to their staterooms to change, while everyone who arrived ON TIME was expected to sit and wait. Then came a sales pitch disguised as "relax and enjoy your time." By 8:20, the event still had not started. We finally left. Staff stared at us, then at one another. It felt disorganized, childish, and disrespectful of everyone's time. HUB APP: Carnival already knows the HUB App has problems. FIX IT. There was much more, but the bottom line is simple: this was NOT a good cruise experience. The wonderful individuals named above deserve recognition, but they were bright spots in an experience that was otherwise deeply disappointing.
