It's tough to come up with a 40th birthday gift for an estranged spouse. These days, the only thing we have in common is our children, so it seemed fitting to include them somehow. In a rare moment of clarity, I found a way to get this done, give business to a worthy photographer ( ahem, and friend) at the same time. I posed the idea to Tom, to do a photo shoot of my kids as a present for my wife and his energy and enthusiasm made me immediately think I made the right choice. We discussed locations and concepts based on what I had seen of his work. Tom had some fantastic ideas and was very receptive to my own ideas. Tom feels that the comfort of the subjects is important, so we decided to do an outdoor shoot at the park in the neighborhood where they grew up. The day came and although Tom had nothing to do with the weather, I couldn't help but feel that with the most beautiful fall day I'd ever seen, Tom has an in with Mother Nature. The shoot went flawlessly. He worked great with usually difficult kids and I could tell they felt at ease. My kids are into cosplay, where they like to dress up as their favorite characters. They loved that Tom incorporated their costumes into the shoot and couldn't wait for the pictures. And what pictures they were. I've never seen my kids look so good. The shots were classy, true and fun. I am more than pleased with the results and they were a big hit with everyone who got one. Tom uses an easy method for getting you your pics. He sets up a web page where you can view all shots and order them however you wish ( mugs, cards, photos, digital, etc) . With one click, a picture will be in your hands within hours. The overall experience with Tom, was one that I can't say enough good things about. If you have the need for such services and you are in the greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area ( or even beyond- it's worth it) make sure you check Tom out. First off let me tell you that we live in Washington DC. Our wedding (which is part of what they filmed) took place in western Maryland at the Wisp Resort. They live in the Philadelphia area and their studio is in Lambertville, NJ. I feel like these guys definitely went above in beyond. The package we got included a pre wedding Love Story that they came down to DC to film. They offered to film both at our house and downtown around the monuments - it was really cool - they asked us about how we met - what we like about each other and other pertinent details that told our story. While they were down here they offered to take engagement photos for us which we weren't expecting - very cool of them! When they finished our love story they offered to burn it on CD and have it available to play at our wedding reception before we entered - it was such a hit. About the wedding - it was a bit different - it was more of a weekend event - the guys came up the day before the wedding and they were there for the rehearsal, the bonfire the night before and of course the ceremony and the ENTIRE reception! During this time they were shooting all along. They weaved all of this and our engagement video (that was online) into our wedding video. All of this was compiled onto blu-rays and packaged into a case that was designed using a wedding day picture of us that they took! It was truly amazing. Additionally they also gave us all of the raw footage on a harddrive at our request. I'm truly impressed with their level of dedication, professionalism and kindness. He discussed with the couple and was happy to work with their plans and what they did and didn't want, and very thoughtful about the photography options with great suggestions. He was a super nice guy as well. The day of the event he was professional, very flexible in the face of lots of cooks in the kitchen, clearly knew what he was doing, and really nice to work with. He knew how to compose shots and make them look great. But most important, the pictures came out wonderful! Finally, his fee was completely reasonable and appropriate to the occasion (unlike other photographers we contacted who said they had a minimum wedding fee whether or not it was a large, standard wedding event).
