When I arrived it really stood out. I had them add a butterfly which went in the casket before they closed the lid. My uncle at the very agile age of 91 was in the hospital when she was. Went home on Hospice. I wanted something small but patriotic. I remember the anchor tattoo he had from the navy. I was aware he was to be cremated. I called them back and again got Linda. We talked back and forth with ideas. It needed to be small as it was in the church. Also he was in and urn to go in the wall. So I wanted a planter. With a few flowers of red white and blue. I called in advance to see if they could find a small flower and anchor. I saw it yesterday and it was perfect. It sat beside the urn. The flag fresh red white and blue flowers in the planter. Though my wedding was in New Hope, I live in NYC. I was able to meet with Kate only once and knew from the first meeting that she really understood our style and vision. She lives on a beautiful little farm where she grows all of her flowers. After our meeting, she created a Pinterest board for my wedding where we both shared ideas and arrangements for the various aspects of the ceremony and reception. Kate is super creative and really knows her stuff. She came up with some gorgeous arrangements and beautifully incorporated the vintage vases that my mom collected. We planned to have our wedding entirely outside, but the weather had other plans for us :) Everything had to be moved inside of 2 barns. The day before the event, I spoke to Kate to go over the changes. I was initially worried about how everything would translate inside, but after talking with her I felt so much better. She was able to bring the outside in by totally transforming the barns into a magical and romantic floral wonderland. I have no doubt that Kate and her assistant worked incredibly hard that day and handled all of the changes with professionalism and grace. They even added some last second details, such as adding candles to the tables and brought in an awesome chandelier made from branches and flowers! When I walked in to the space, I was truely overwhelmed. It was like a dream! If you are looking for a unique, local, artistic, Eco-friendly and absolutely beautiful florist experience, please go to Kate at Lilies and Lavender. Everything is seasonal (as it should be), so if you are looking for exotic tropicals or peonies in January, this is not the florist for you. My mom said that the flowers were bright and cheery at first but wilted within a couple of days. The florist seemed nice and accommodating at first and told my sister to let her know if she had any questions. Holly sent my sister a follow up email with a proposal. My sister read through it and followed up with questions. She is investing a lot of money and wanted to make sure there were on the same page and also wanted to clarify things before a contract is signed. Holly answered back saying she is shocked that my sister was emailing her with an extensive list of questions after their conversation and the follow up email. She also said I do not believe we are the florist for you. I get business owners can choose who they decide to work with but you don't want to work with someone because they are asking questions? I understand if my sister was rude or was asking for something ridiculous but they were questions any bride would ask their vendors. I have receipts of the emails and the deleted reviews by the way. The fact she said NO because my sister had a list of clarifying questions is beyond me. This is part of being a vendor isn't it? Very unprofessional and plain rude in my opinion. Please be careful.
