Check in is done via email and when I booked through booking.com we asked to come an hour early due to my husband becoming ill during a camping trip. We received a reply of declined. I call and booking.com called them several times with no answer. Then at 7pm, I get an email apology and that they were still holding a room. They had just removed the decline at 7 pm. By then, with no additional funds, we had returned to the campsite and briefly stabilized my husband. After hours of being declined, they expected me to break down my campsite and move my husband again at 7pm. They are refusing to refund me for the error they made. read more

This hotel has gone drastically downhill since my last visit five years ago. What used to be a great stay is now completely unsafe and unsettling. We could hear people fighting through the walls, which was scary and made it hard to relax. The main entrance was left unlocked all night, and there were no staff members or security present--just an overall feeling of being unsafe. To make matters worse, we just saw on the news that there was a shooting at this hotel, which sadly doesn't surprise me. Our group had multiple rooms and all showed signs of pets--hair, strong chemical smells clearly trying to cover up pet odors, and a general lack of cleanliness. There was no front desk, no amenities, and no one available to help or even answer basic questions. It's under new ownership now, and unfortunately, it shows. I would proceed with caution, but personally, I will not be staying here again. read more

We decided at the last minute to go to the beach on Friday just for one day. We had a hard time finding availability around different beaches that were dog friendly without it being over the top expensive or being a 2 star reviewed hotel. Luckily, I stumbled across Carolina Beach Inn. I tried calling a couple of times with no answer, but shortly later, Debi sent me a message as she was out enjoying the Thursday night fireworks. She was able to confirm that there was availability and we immediately booked! We had planned on checking in around 4-5, but our pup was tired after a couple of hours at the beach. Plus it was so windy that we were getting pelted by the sand, we decided to head on over and see if we could check in early at 2. Debi was not there, but we contacted her and she was there within 10 minutes for us to check in. She was friendly and knowledgeable to the area. The inn is close to the beach and a lot of activity that we were able to walk to. The rooms are small, but we weren't planning on staying in our room much. We didn't get a porch room, but it looked nice to have the ability to hang out on the porch in the evening. Perfect place that is reasonably priced for one night and is dog friendly! read more

We were here for a short stay 2 nights for the beginning of our honeymoon. Debi was wonderful and welcoming when we arrived. Upgraded our room, and showered us with a couple small thoughtful gifts. She is second to none and made it a very personal experience for us! We were in the turtle room, and it was wonderful! The deck was attached right to our room and you can look out the side and see a small glimpse of the ocean. The room was super clean, and came with water and super cute coozies! There's coffee available, as will as bottled water available, and assessable at any time. There are beach chairs, and towels to use as well. This place is exactly what more hotels should be like. While the rooms are small and it isn't on the beach, the owner is so kind and considerate it makes up for it. She remembered us from staying there over a year ago, and welcomed us back graciously even though we'd book at the very last minute. They provide everything you need--and a lot more. Completely for free, they had some amenities like free ice, bottled water, phone chargers, etc that I haven't seen at even very high end hotels. My boyfriend and I spent a short weekend in Carolina Beach to enjoy the outdoor activities at Freeman Park, and we spent the night at Carolina Beach Inn and it was nothing short of fantastic! The Inn itself is immaculately clean, our room was cozy and had everything we needed, plus a covered balcony with rocking chairs and an ocean view! The inn is not only a VERY short walk from the beach, but an even shorter walk to all of the best little bars and restaurants, AND the boardwalk in CB! There is a little area in the backyard of the inn where you can shower down after a long beach day, and the backyard has an adorable area to lounge and grill out and entertain a group of guests! I can't say enough wonderful things about this inn. The owner, Debi, works extremely hard to make this place wonderful for guests and she couldn't have been more accommodating to us! I made a day trip to Wilmington and at the last minute decided to go to the beach and stay overnight. I found the Carolina Beach Inn online. I now know where I'll be staying on future trips to CB. Debi, the innkeeper, was fantastic...from check in to providing recommendations on the local businesses to loaning me a phone charger. I think the easiest way for me to explain my experience at the CBI is as follows... LIKES/LOVES: The inn was super clean and cute beyond belief Both room towels and beach towels readily available...beach chairs too! The mini-fridge and microwave were great Complimentary water and microwave popcorn were sweet touches The refreshment station is great Location to everything perfect...no need to move the car DISLIKES: having to leave and return to the real world. Fell in love with this place! The building has history and character and the owners have done a great job with it. Innkeepers are super nice and accommodating. We live in Carolina Beach and were just having a one-night getaway from adulting. They offered us late checkout so we could sleep in! Walking distance to everything. Rooms have everything you need. I stayed here the first weekend in August of 2016 and I'm very glad that I did. It's 2 blocks from the beach and there's plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. Parking was a little tricky but I didn't have any issues. I had the surfer room which is small but I was the only person in it so it didn't bother me. It's a room with a bed, table, fridge, microwave, closet and bathroom. As others have stated there isn't much room for placing toiletries. The shower was small but had good water pressure. The room provided everything you'd get at a hotel just on a slightly smaller scale and lower price. I did feel air conditioning but there is also a ceiling fan. This place was great! read more

This place was great! The owner was very kind and you could tell she was very involved with her business. There was so much included, like coffee or tea, beach chairs and umbrellas, cutlery and paper plates, fresh towels and bottled water. It was nicer than I expected! It was very quiet during the day, but the dogs barking in other rooms at night got a little annoying. You can easily walk to the beach. We had a wonderful experience at the adorable Carolina Beach Inn! Debi was welcoming and friendly to my whole family (including my dog!), and definitely went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. She generously upgraded us to a larger room with a kitchen, provided us with beach toys for our young kids, and made suggestions on where to eat with the kids. The room was clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and the location was perfect - close enough to walk to the boardwalk, shops, and restaurants, but just set back enough to be in a quiet residential area. Let me begin by saying Debi makes this Inn. She is warm, funny and genuinely nice person. Her first words to my wife and I ,as we walked up to the inn, were she had upgraded us to porch room. This is without a request. This is a lovely room with queen bed on 2nd floor that is right off the porch with rocking chairs. Great place to stay. We were there for a long Easter weekend (4/13 - 4/17) and it was awesome. We started out on the top floor but the stairs were hard on our two elderly dogs so they moved us down to the first floor and did everything to make our stay comfortable. Very close to the beach, the boardwalk and some great restaurants. Nice and clean and they have rocking chairs on the front porch to sit and relax. Debi and Tom, the owners are very friendly and easy to talk to. Highly recommend you stay with them if you plan to be in the area. Prices are reasonable as well. read more

Came here with the hubby over Labor day weekend. The thing this place has going for it is that it is centrally located and easy walking distance to everything and the price was good . Everything else not so much, there us no way to regulate the air with the central thermostat in hall and locked, it was set to 85 in the summer. Well it was 95 out today and our room was no exception. The refrigerator didn't work and just ran and was real hot in the outside adding to the heat in the room. Even unplugged and with a thermostat in my hand it was 97 in the room with only a crazy wobbly ceiling fan that looked like it was going to break and Fall on bed. Small fan on desk. Bathroom wreaked of urine. No spare toilet paper roll and had only a quarter roll when we arrived. The only elect switch in bathroom us in old light and can't use blow dryer with ground read more

Our stay was for three nights in the week after Easter. It was the first time we traveled with our new Corgi puppy Lola. Owner Debi showed us the room we had reserved which was very nice, then generously offered the lovely downstairs suite that opens to a deck in the garden. This little hotel has so many pluses, including comfortable, well appointed rooms, spotless cleanliness, easy parking in front of the building, walking distance to the boardwalk and restaurants, and most of all, caring professional owners who want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We were very pleased with our stay at Carolina Beach Inn. The inn was clean and Debbie was absolutely wonderful to work with with such a last minute reservation. The inn is a renovated boarding house from the 1930s so there are a few amenities that you wont find in a modern hotel room. However, we stayed for 3 days and we had no complaints. It is walking distance to the beach (about 2-3 blocks), restaurants (across the street), and banks (BB&T & bank of America) We enjoyed our stay! read more

My family and I loved this seaside bungalow. Walking distance to the soft-sand beaches, plenty of seafood joints, a breakfast diner named Kate's Pancake House that I will dream about until our next trip here, a large kitchen in the King Suite with a big fridge, hardwood floors, great water pressure in the shower, which also has non-slip tile, comfortable lighting, televisions, a phone charger provided for all devices, I could go on. While this is not oceanfront, it does have a spacious backyard covered in soft clovers and a beautiful tree. Even a McD's right on the corner within walking, if you're like me and enjoy a quick/easy/guilty fast food breakfast on their vacations. The rooms are non smoking, but smoking is allowed on the front porch with the adorable rocking chairs and plenty of ash buckets. Some people may not like this, but I honestly feel like it gives a more laid-back and homestyle vibe. Also not dirty at all. The lighting on the front and back porches were bright all night long which made us feel very safe. This is a "recovering from hurricane old town" with cute colored buildings, designer beachwear shops, bars and pool tables, friendly neighbors and children, wet-suit and boogie board rental, plenty of souvenir shops with perfect little trinkets, and a nice boardwalk alongside the beach. We had a six-year-old and almost-two-year-old with us, and they LOVED the experience and Carolina Beach Inn. I think this place is full of good luck. We all bonded so much in such little time. I found this hotel on Hotels.com when another hotel that I originally wanted to stay at was completely booked. The price was right, so I reserved a room. Upon arrival, I noticed that the hotel was smaller than it looked online. When entering through the front door, the only way to check in was on the second floor once you've climbed the steep staircase to get to it. So if you need a handicapped-accessible room, this is not the place to stay. When I entered the room, I was surprised at how small it was. There was no central air; there was only a ceiling fan in the room. When I went to hang up my clothes, I discovered an A/C unit on the floor of the closet. (Apparently, none of the units had been installed in any of the rooms at that time.) One night, it got hot in the room, and I kept the fan on all night so I could go to sleep.You would think the A/C units would have been installed by then. The room was clean, though, and had a microwave and fridge. There wasn't any table to put your things, like toiletries or anything else you bring. There was only one accessible outlet, which had an expandable strip for additional outlets. I had to put my toiletries on top of the tank of the toilet. The outlet in the bathroom did not work. There was no comfortable way to do your hair in the bathroom since it was a pedestal style sink with no room to put your comb, toothbrush, curling iron, etc. Also, there was no phone in the room. So if you don't have a cell phone and need to make a call, you're out of luck! The owner was very nice, though, and allowed me to check in early. However, I had to request a receipt several times before I received it. Overall, it was not a bad stay, but the hotel did not have some of the basic amenities that you expect to receive at your average hotel. I will probably not be staying here again. However, it was close to where I needed to be, and the price was fantastic. Unfortunately, there aren't that many places to choose from in that area so it is what it is. read more

We found this spot to stay for a wedding we were going to on the beach just a couple blocks away. Debi was happy to accommodate an early check in for us since the wedding was early afternoon. She worked quite hard to make sure the room was as cozy as cozy could be and we appreciated her friendly smile knowing she was very busy.
