My husband was immediately impressed by the new renovations in our room and the balcony with an ocean view when he checked in the hotel early without me. The room we had was more spacious with more convenient or better amenities than the hotel we just transferred from in downtown Wilmington. We had a larger fridge in our room . A microwave was located at the ice machine room - a small walk away from our hotel room. The couch in our room converted to a bed. Looking at the bed in the couch you could see it was still encased in plastic & never used. My husband was very happy with the room and the beautiful ocean view from our balcony. It is the first time we booked an oceanfront hotel room in Wilmington, North Carolina. We always love visiting the beach even in winter weather - off season. The balcony was perfect for a private & quiet Christian memorial service for a loved one during sunrise at the beach. She had loved watching sunrises on the beach before she passed away. There were some difficulties experienced at this hotel, yet the stellar customer service from the staff overshadowed the obstacles we encountered there. Therefore, we are giving this hotel a rating of excellence especially in customer service. One of most accommodating & congenial staff at the hotel during our stay was Laney at the front desk. She was very professional, easy to communicate concerns with, and sensitive to the needs & the constant discomfort experienced by my husband on the day he could not get hot water to work in the shower. On top of that, we heard what sounded like construction work going on in the room above us around 7 AM in the morning. It turned out it was hotel guests above us. Luckily, they checked out that morning. My husband was getting irritated on our second day at the hotel and was going to have us relocate to another hotel if they could not get the hot water to work. We found out the whole hotel had no hot water when they let him have access to another hotel room to use the hot water there. The problem was finally fixed at the very end of the day. Laney listened to all our questions, concerns, & requests when we encountered the most obstacles in the hotel on our second day there . She communicated to us that she would resolve the problems we experienced in the hotel as quickly as possible and followed through with immediate action to ensure our hotel stay was above satisfactory. Despite being busy with hotel guests, she had a blanket and cleansing facial wipes personally delivered to our hotel room as I requested that day. Laney elevated our hotel experience that week from 4 stars to 5 stars. We had no more obstacles during the rest of our stay at the hotel. There was construction going on in the hotel but we never encountered any problems with it. We had peace & quiet, good sleep, stellar customer service, and a spacious nice new room with a balcony & ocean view. My most memorable and visual highlight there was just going out on the balcony to listen to the ocean and to see the ocean sunrise every day. It was pure magic. Cheers read more

Newly renovated room, and this still occurring currently at the hotel with minimal intrusion on your stay. One of our best stays at a Marriott. Had some issues with hot water, but it was quickly fixed by management. To be totally honest, the room on this level takes over five minutes to get hot, and then there was no turning down the steaming hot water once it finally came. It was kind of annoying but maybe they can figure this one out still. Our view was gorgeous and room comfortable otherwise. Ice and microwave was conveniently down the hall by the elevator. Room comes with a decent size mini fridge. Laney, our receptionist, took great care and interest in our needs throughout our stay and followed up regularly to ensure we were well taken care of. I finally had a great hotel stay at the Courtyard in Carolina Beach after a bunch of disappointing stays. The hotel has a good sized parking lot and offers free parking during the off-season. I think it is just $9 a night in season so not too bad. I arrived earlier than I anticipated and before check-in time so did not expect my room to be ready. I just wanted a parking pass and beach access card as this hotel is right on the beach. When I gave my name and he noticed I was Titanium, I was told my room was ready. So that was a nice surprise and my stay was off to a great start. My room was cleaned very well and a nice size. The bed looked out to the beach and the balcony had a great view. I enjoy just listening to the waves and this was the perfect room for that. The couch was comfy and may have been a pull-out bed but I didn't check. There was enough lighting as some rooms can be too dark. The cable lineup was good with many channels. The wifi was good here too. The hotel is older but this room seemed in good condition. I might need a return visit this year instead of waiting until 2026 for a yearly visit here. read more

We stayed at the Courtyard Carolina Beach for two nights, a Thursday and Friday. The price was right for what you get. We thought maybe it wouldn't feel like beach trip being at a hotel like this but it was great! Tenth floor, sweeping ocean views! Comfortable bed, clean room, nice hotel staff. The location is great for easy boardwalk and beach access. There are a lot of places to eat or grab a drink close by. I honestly think my only complaint if pressed was the glass doors to the view outside could've been cleaner. Other than that, just awesome! read more

We visited in late January/ early February so prices were reasonable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We were on the 7th of 10 floors. They were doing construction on the balconies but it was not very loud while we were there and we got multiple reminders in email and during checking in that this was happening. The Starbucks station and food vendor were friendly and we enjoyed coffee and breakfast sandwiches. There was no room cleaning service and we were there three nights. The app was recommended but never opened up on my phone.. We will be back.. read more

The last time we stayed here. About 5 years ago. We had some small items stolen from our room. We asked for no housekeeping but they didn't have the placards to hang on the door that say do not disturb. The next to last day there we noticed that the room had been cleaned while we were out. Didn't notice until we got home that a couple of stickers we bought were gone and some thc gummies were taken from our room. We had stayed here probably 6 or more times without incident. Won't be going back to this hotel. read more

I have stayed at this Courtyard several times in the past year. They have friendly staff and an amazing bartender who is great to talk to and makes great drinks, Jamie. At my last visit, Jan 1 - 3rd, the hotel is under construction! There was no message at reservation and booking of this inconvenience. At some points during the day, there was only 1 working elevator as the other was reserved for construction. Upon walking into the hotel and even outside you saw construction workers. It would have been nice to have a heads up so we could decide if that was the environment we wanted for our relaxation time. read more

This place is not worth the price! The room we had was not the cleanest. There were stains on the computer chair and on the chair in the room. The TV didn't work, trying to watch YouTube. You would think for the price that It'll be nicer? The only good thing about this place is the view of the ocean, the access to the beach, the pools and that it's was next to the boardwalk but other than that not worth the PRICE! read more

My girlfriend and I had stayed at this location before with a better experience, we visited again for Memorial Day weekend this time. The staff seemed somewhat lackluster with more than one instance of us being told something and it not happening. The parking was horrendous due to the holiday, and the hotel didn't seem to prioritize making sure the guests had adequate spots for their vehicles even though it's included with the room. Add to this the fact that one of the two elevators was down for the entire duration of our stay which was incredibly problematic due to the amount of guests and the fact that we were placed on a higher floor when my booking was for a lower... The room itself was decent, with a good balcony view of the ocean, and a clean swimming pool. read more

The location is centered right next to the boardwalk .. So close in fact that you can hit the Ferris wheel with a rock. The noise from the boardwalk at night is loud until approximately 10p. Then it shuts down and you can hear the people still in the beach walking along with flashlights in hand. Nothnng bad... and mildly entertaining. The rooms are clean and nice enough .. 7 outta 10 in that area. The only real issue was the air conditioner. The second night it was loud... stupidly loud. Luckily my wife and I had noise canceling headphones and we finished off the last night, but it was an expletive of an experience hearing it. Make sure your rooms ac is in working order. read more

We checked in on January 26,2023, The check in was flawless. We received the most warming and welcoming service. They included a plate of chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling wine!! The room 701 was EPIC AND AMAZING!! We had one hiccup with the key card which they fixed it on the spot. Including free breakfast! We have used this WONDERFUL HOTEL; for every Wedding Anniversary for three years!! We have nothing but Amazing visits and Experiences with them!! The room was so beautiful!! Views from four different angles!! Ocean Front!! We are also complementing Bridgette who made sure we had fresh clean towels and anything we needed!! My review echos some of what's below, so I'll list the pros and cons. Pros: all rooms are oceanfront. We were on the 10th floor in a king room. The view was gorgeous and the room and bathroom were spacious. Water pressure in shower was surprisingly solid with being ocean front. Bed was comfy and clean. Parking was easy and free. Ladies at the desk were kind and friendly. Lobby appeared clean. Super easy to walk out of hotel onto the boardwalk and to restaurants/bars. Cons: room definitely needed wiping down (which I do anyplace I'm staying nowadays.) The bottom of the bathtub looked grungy-probably from years of sand-but still...not Marriott standards. Housekeeping did not fill the body wash or leave toilet paper. And we only received 2 towels. Balcony furniture was flimsy and the windows and area in general needed a good cleaning. Overall, I would stay here again due to the views and location. But will continue to bring cleaning supplies. Hopefully Marriott updates and cleans in the future. read more

The rooms were clean and fairly modern. The beds were comfy. The view of the ocean is great! It's nice that their is a yelp offer for a free upgrade. I like that they have a pool and hot tub. However the hot tub is very dated and needed more water. They also have a really nice outdoor pool but it was too cold. The beach access is fantastic! The staff here are very friendly and helpful. I also like in the lobby they have nice printed books with tabs of local places to eat, drink, and shop with descriptions for guests to view. It helped us a lot! They also have print out maps of the area that you can take. Check out can be done online which is nice. They also called us after we checked in to make sure we were happy with our room. read more

The good news is that every room is beachfront with a great view of the beach and ocean, and the hotel staff is very friendly and anxious to please when asked... but that's about it. Being directly adjacent to the boardwalk and carnival, be prepared to experience the loud music and deep base rhythms until 11PM right from your room. Courtyard now stocks rooms with pump bottles of body wash and shampoo instead of individual packaging... and both the body wash and shampoo were completely empty upon arrival. Service is now down to every-other day, and for a beach hotel that means regular calls for more towels. During the busy summer season the two elevators can cause backups on all floors, especially waiting to go up. The Bistro Bar servers Starbucks coffee brews, but no creative coffees. The coffee is served luke-warm, and the French toast is served cold, and the very crispy bacon the saltiest you've ever tasted. They are frequently out of component ingredients, so breakfast sandwiches are made with what they have left that day, and even the lattes may be limited in the milk available. Sometimes they're out of coffee lids. The Bistro staff always seemed a bit befuddled. What once was Marriotts good business-class hotel chain is now a high-priced budget experience. But you can't beat the view or the beach here. read more

The hotel is really run down. The room wasn't clean. There were hairs on the pillows, stains on the couch, and just a general disrepair in the room throughout. Plus a person staying there hired a hooker and had them really close to us in the elevator. Disgusting hotel. read more

So I had a business meeting in Wilmington, but wanted to use points at Marriott and chose this hotel. I actually love this place. It was a little cold when we arrived in late February. They had a large group of women here for a convention for scrapbooking, so it was quite the rowdy crowd. Lol, just kidding. I cannot say enough great things about the front desk, staff, especially Felicia, who made us feel so welcomed. Parker was great as well. They have awesome views from every room. We were in 811. I love the fact that they have a refrigerator. I also noticed a microwave and the ice machine area. read more

Overall fun place to stay. Other people in my party had to wait a while for their room to be cleaned (check in at 4pm, got to room at 5:30pm). Right next to boardwalk carnival. Lots of food/drink options, surf shops, and right next to the beach. Super convenient to go to beach or pool. Only problem with the place was housekeeping never came to clean, they looked understaffed and busy. Room smelt like feet (literally not exaggerating). Had a good time. If you want a lively experience right off the beach, this place is good. Pricey but RIGHT on the beach so ur paying for that too. read more

Hosted a conference here right after the hurricane. For lunch this is probably the best hotel food we've ever experienced. The batista in the morning are so accommodating. The rooms appear to have been updated recently. A great experience with MacKenzie with rooming lists, etc. read more

I recently stayed at this Courtyard by Marriott while in Carolina Beach for a brief getaway. Both checking in and out were fast, and the people I dealt with at the front desk were friendly on both occasions. There is no way to check out via the TV in the room, however. The room itself was OK, although the decor is somewhat dated. Air conditioning worked fine and I also liked how the bathroom floor was finished in a non-slip wood covering. A mini-refrigerator is also included. The balcony was tiny, though. The location is great -- plenty of restaurants are within an easy walk and the boardwalk is right outside the building. All of the rooms face the ocean as well. Parking in the offseason is basically free and first come, first served. The main reason that I would hestitate to recommend this hotel is the noise that I experienced while staying there. The first night, it sounded like a bowling ball was being intermittently dropped on the floor of the room above mine, and this went on until 4:00 AM. So much for getting any sleep. And then the second night, I wasn't able to enjoy the sounds of the surf due to loud partying voices and laughter on the surrounding balconies. read more

I really love this hotel because all of the rooms are ocean front balcony. I love sleeping with the sliding doors open to hear the ocean. You get the best sunrises in NC also. If you stay in the off season you can stay here for pretty cheap. It's conveniently located by the boardwalk. They also have a government rate, but you probably won't get it during the summer months. read more

Reason for three star rating is because one of our two queen beds was completely broken. Please see photo at bottom of review - the springs/support of the bed were ruined and I kept rolling over into the sunken spot... not a great way to spend the evening. We were able to stay at this hotel free thanks to my husband's points with Marriott - if we had paid $330 for this room, I would be a lot more angry. We mentioned broken bed to front desk when checking out, mild concern but nothing to really show us they cared that we had a broken bed all night... Hotel overall was nice, room was very clean and we loved being on the 6th floor. We stayed in room 610, which is directly across from elevators, however, we heard barely any noise at all. Indoor pool looked a little dirty, we opted to visit beach and then swim in outdoor pool, which at 8 pm was empty. There were a couple of towels left in the towel area for us. Breakfast in the hotel lobby was ok, very overpriced. $13.+ for a pretty lame breakfast spread. I asked for an unsweetened tea and was given a sweet tea, not good, I cannot have sugar. We'd stay here again, but would double check bed(s) - not sure how they missed a completely sunken bed? Location was great, very near boardwalk and very family-friendly atmosphere. Only two elevators but they were always fast. Outdoor pool was very nice, too. read more

Great place to stay in Carolina Beach. We have always stayed there. Service is great. Staff are friendly and helpful.

First time staying at this location. Wonderful view of the ocean if you choose an oceanfront room. It was as if the sunrise was directly targeted at our room so we had the perfect view of it. The room overall was clean and the tv worked well. The bed was kind of lumpy and one of the pillows smelled heavily of sweat. Also, one of the closet doors was stuck in a semi open position. It could neither be fully opened or closed. One leg was off the frig making it lopsided so opening and closing it was a pain. The staff was a mixed bag. Some were very nice and others seemed as if they cared less to be working there, let alone respond to the paying customers questions. The cleaning staff was very nice and super attentive. We were pressed for time when leaving so decided to just eat breakfast there. My suggestion - don't. It's not worth the price and because it was near the end of the buffet time staff was rushing us to finish up even tho we wanted to go back for a little bit more. Not ok. We probably would choose to stay elsewhere next time we visit the area as the glitches took away from a relaxing stay. read more

Beachfront for $75 a night? How can you beat that? Overall, no complaints but several nuances that could have led to death by a thousand cuts. We were in Carolina Beach for a funeral and chose this location for the price and the proximity to the ocean. There are alot of restaurants and shops within walking distance - location is ideal. There is a little cafe/ market in the lobby that serves really good coffee and has a great, pricy, menu that changes by time of day. There is also a breakfast buffet for a whopping $12 or $13 per person. That's a little steep and definitely not worth it. The little cafe serves drinks as well and they were pretty dang good. I had no issues with the room cleanliness and the staff was very friendly and professional. I see many negative comments on cleanliness and age of the hotel (mostly how dated it is) but I did not experience these. read more

This is the only beachfront Marriott property in NC. Located directly on the beach in Carolina Beach, this Courtyard is within walking distance of everything! From tons of bars and restaurants that are five minute walks, to the famed boardwalk that's literally out the back doorway, and the carnival area for the kids that's nearly touching the side of the building, this is prime location for your beach stay! read more

Covid era post. Stayed in room 915- corner room. Since they are short-staffed, it is asked that you leave your linen basket outside of your room by 11 am so someone can empty it. Nope. I guess since this isn't daily housekeeping, they just don't provide the basics. Another weird issue during our stay- the AC was switching over to heat on its own. At one point our room was 79 degrees... mind you, it's August. Anyway, hotel is outdated for it's daily cost. Staff was nice. read more

I do not recommend this hotel unless there are just two of you or two and a baby. The rooms are super tiny and during high season you are paying ridiculously too much for what you get. Two queen beds shoved in a very narrow room with a tiny refrigerator that was beaten up with no microwave. The AC is loud, the ice machines were broken, our room had to be re cleaned because there was sand everywhere when we checked in. I will say staff is wearing masks sort of (many are below the nose) and it IS beachfront. The pools are dirty and like everywhere else, they are understaffed. Plan ahead and stay in a condo or a VRBO - skip this hotel unless it is only for one night and absolutely necessary. Sorry Marriott - this one is a FAIL. read more

Enjoyed 3 reward nights here! The views are spectacular & the hotel is conveniently located off the boardwalk and within close proximity to a lot of restaurants, bars & a coffee shop. The rooms are a little outdated & musty, but they are planning a remodel this year. That will really elevate this hotel. The pool is really nice & the hotel boasts other nice amenities- a separate indoor pool, jacuzzi, gym, Starbucks cafe & access to food all day. I will definitely come back to this hotel if I vacation in the area again! read more

The view is awesome however the rooms have gone down quite a bit since we were last here. We had a king bed. A couch with only seating cushions, no back cushions. No dresser..just two small drawers attached to the desk. No in room microwave so we couldn't reheat leftovers or coffee. Our closet had a few hangers but no closet door. There was a track for one but still no door. It was as if they hadn't finished furnishing our room. Very odd. At $300 plus a night, I expect better. Also the balcony railing was wobbly. Not at all up to Mariott's usual standards. We will look to stay elsewhere next time we are here. The only reason for giving this a couple of stars is due to the view. read more

Check in was easy. We arrived early and was able to check in. Made changes to get a room with 2 beds versus king bed and sofa bed. Blanket in one of the beds was stained, the housekeeper happened to be on the floor, requested a new blanket or comforter. One of the foam like bed headboard was stained. Removed them all from the beds. The other comforter had a small stain, but it didn't seem to be uncleaned. Bath tub wasn't the nicest. The view was great in the morning of 12/25. Great location. Friendly staff. Some hand sanitizer stations were out. Weather conditions permitted a walk on the beach on 12/24. No microwave in room. Stained linens is a total turn off. Do better Marriott. I am more inclined to stay at their competitors because accommodations at Marriott hotels have declined. read more
