I have contacted the Regional Manager at this location regarding the incredibly rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional conduct displayed by the Practice Manager at this location in my phone conversation with her. What started as a polite conversation about how I could contact regional management turned into her accusing me of demanding that she provide personal phone numbers for corporate personnel--which I did not even ask her for. When I politely asked her why she was berating me and accusing me of demanding information I never asked her for she became more hostile and dismissive when I questioned her inexplicable hostility. I was refused service by this office I have been going to this location for years and recommended several people. However, on Friday April 24, 2026 I had an appointment; the receptionist was checking me in and told me my deductible will be. I gave her my credit card to which she told me there would be a surcharge. I told her I will not charge to the credit card. I gave her $100 in twenty's, she said that sometimes on Fridays they do not have change. She went and checked but there was no change. She asked if I wanted the change credited to my account. I told her no; I need my change. I suggested that they bill me the $4 rather than them owing me $16. She said no I needed to pay in full. I told her I am paying in full but they are not providing me with my change. After several back and forth with that she called a co-worker and the same was repeated. They refused me service because I did not have the exact change and I refused for them to owe me $16 dollars rather than them billing me $4. One of the young ladies told me I could go to the smoke shop to get change; to which I declined. I explained that had they told me I needed exact change if I am paying cash I would have come prepared; I should not be the the one inconvenienced because this was not communicated. I have been going to this office twice per year for several years; this interaction was distasteful. This is not an establishment that anyone needs to be associated to; after this interaction I have come to realize that they do not value their patients wellbeing. First impression was not the best. I was going in for my initial exam last December, and the dentist as well as his staff kept trying to upsell Invisalign. They stated that I needed it due to how my teeth were laying, but it would not be covered by insurance because it is not a "need". But I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt seeing as though it was my first visit. Fast forward to today. Terrible communication by the front office regarding my appointment time. Long story short, they changed my appointment that I made in december for 30 minutes later in the day and never actually got me on the phone to tell me about it. The front desk staff stated that they could get me in at 12, which was 30 minutes after my initial appointment. I couldn't do it due to work, and they said there was no other option. I honestly don't like to make reviews or speak negative but this experience I can't bypass. I was scheduled for two fillins I got scheduled with Dr.Kalavacharla this was my first time ever being scheduled with him so not sure why they even did that to begin with. The hygienist began to put the nasty flavor numbing gel inside my lip I waited so long on the dentist she had to redo it because the numbness wore off. The dentist finally came in and started he inserted the novacane needle I wasn't numb enough he kept numbing it over and over he finally got it to where I could tolerate the drill and got the one filling complete. Him and the hygienist were just talking away to each other which I would have been fine with if they were doing their job correctly but this is when I knew he just didnt know what he was doing as he went to numb the other side he kept numbing me over and over again he kept testing my tooth with something cold to see if I could feel it which I could so he kept reinserting the needle in my gum over and over pushing the novacane out so fast it was going in my throat !!! at this point I'm practically spitting on myself because of how nasty it taste and how slow they were responding to him dripping all this medicine into my throat. When I tell you this man injected this stuff into my gums at least 15 times on one side to tell me oh it's not working so we are just going to reschedule you. when I tell y'all I was so upset i tried to hold it together as I checked out because of course they want their money even after treating me like a lab rat and having to reschedule me which means I have to take off but yet another day of work to get these small issues resolved with my teeth but the man that checked me out didn't have any remorse didn't direct me to who I could talk to about the issue like completely nothing but insured they got there payment. Two days have passed and I can't eat on the side he didn't even get to work on my gums are swollen basically almost covering the tooth they were supposed to be fixing smh I'm just in disbelief I already have anxiety when it comes to the dentist but this by far was my worst experience with any dentist in my entire life hoping my gums aren't infected because they are super inflamed... I had to change dental practices when my dentist retired after 30 years. I booked an appointment with Dr. Blair Fleming (and her trusty sidekick Nadia) and I am glad I did. They are kind and capable like my old dentist, but with new technology that makes the experience much easier. (45 minutes for a crown...seriously! It used to take two weeks! And it's the best crown I have ever had!) I love their extended office hours (7 am to 7 pm and no rushing you out the door like they can't wait for you to leave.) Bridget in the office answers treatment questions like a pro and Missy Elliott is the insurance whisperer. She is my own personal warrior making sure I get every little benefit possible. I love her! I know going to the dentist isn't anyone's idea of a good time, but it is necessary. I don't think the experience could be any better than it is at Carolinas Dentist in Spring Lake. read more

I'll have to say, new to the area and search and reviewed several dentists this was one of the few I found with 4 plus stars, and all reviews were positive and spot on as per my experience today I had a filling fall out last week and over the weekend that same tooth broke, I called them on Monday and they got me in on Friday morning, place was very clean the front office staff was friendly and accommodating, I did not have to wait past my appointment time either they got me back in the room right on time, once in the room I did not end up sitting there waiting for someone to take care of me, the dental assistant and dentist were there shortly after me sitting down, they discussed my options with me and afterwards someone else came in to confirm what was needed and actually informed they could get me in later today as they had a cancellation, they were clear on what they thought I needed done, but made sure I was aware that I may need a root canal, I was given pricing for both before leaving My experience later that afternoon was exactly the same great experience I had in the morning, they performed the work needed on my tooth for a crown and informed that a root canal would not be needed It was well worth the drive from Sanford twice in one day down to their office I would definitely recommend their services to anyone that asks read more

I had a very bad experience as a young person with a denist. I met Dr. Mullen due to a terrible toothache that I had. I was so scared that I did not even want to sit in Dr. Mullen's chair. This was my first appointment here, and I was very impressed by the fact that Dr. Mullen took a moment to speak with me personally to discuss my history and goals before my cleaning started. Bri was very gentle and worked around my cold sensitivity while cleaning, plus she's incredibly sweet! This was my first visit to Carolinas Dentist and I am very pleased with my choice. The experience was phenomenal from the front desk, my hygienist and my doctor. I had a great experience here. The dental hygienists were thorough and my dentist did a great job overall. Dr McDaniel made me feel relaxed throughout the entire procedure and even saw me the same day that I called for some jaw discomfort. My ONLY issue is that one of the ladies that goes over the billing side of things was a bit pushy in trying to get me to have ALL of the procedures done when the dentist only recommended them for the future. Clean and decent adult dental environment. Made an appointment for my spouse and she added my kids for a check up. The extent of dental care for.kids is exam, cleaning, and sealant. Afterwards, they refer you to a pediatric dentist. I am not a fan of taking a patient you can't help, they should have referred us elsewhere. I've been here twice for a teeth cleaning & I got my wisdom tooth pulled here. I don't remember anything from my wisdom tooth removal but my experience with my teeth cleanings so far have been great. I had the same hygienist for both cleanings & she was great. Even though my teeth cleanings were 6 months apart, she remembered everything I told her about school & what I was going for, because she asked me about it! I went in due to some heaviness near my molars. Dr.patel did saw them down so that it didn't bother me anymore but while he was doing that I guess one of my canines was scratching him so he dulled that one as well. It was a little sharper than the other one and I did feel it rubbing against his hand. First of all, I will say that i will NEVER go elsewhere. When I moved away from their original practice, Dental Works, I tried a local office which I hated. When the new place told me I had 5 cavities, I decided to make the long drive back to Dental Works and get a second opinion. That's when I heard all my favorite dentists, literally, had left and started a new practice. I had high expectations to begin with because Dental Works is pretty awesome. However, I was blown away with everything at Carolina Dentist. When I arrived, I was taken back within 2 minutes. Once I was in a room, Dr. Cameron came in within 5 minutes. As I'm sure everyone is, I'm deathly afraid of needles. I had to have one small filling, which made way more sense that what the previous place had told me. It was virtually painless! Dr. Cameron is so gentle and really knows how to make it painless. The room has a TV mounted to the ceiling, playing a movie, and they give you headphones to listen so you don't have to hear the drill. The hygienist even gave me a Chapstick so my lips wouldn't crack during the procedure! That was so above and beyond. Both the hygienist and Dr. cameron repeatedly asked if I was ok. It was over within 15 minutes and I was out the door. I can't say enough about this place and if you are looking for quality care and excellent service, go here! read more

Very Disappointed in the administrative portion of Carolina Dentist - Spring Lake office. Last year I received a credit over $1,000, and was not informed until a year later. Went for a cleaning in March 2022. Tried to up sell on different services and finally slipped that I had this credit on file. Asked to have the credit paid out to me and told it would take 30 days. In reaching almost 60-day mark, I called to inquire. Was told they had to wait until my claim from Mar 2022 was processed by my insurance before issuing a credit. Initially told claim was filed 20 Apr, but found out from my insurance claim never submitted. The claim was submitted May 2022, the same day I called my insurance. Told also my refund would be sent to the credit card I used over a year ago, and that I would have to get the refund from the credit card company. I requested the refund be paid to me, but instead of honoring my request, they sent to the credit card company. They did this before calling me to inform me. So now I have to wait another 72 hours before the refund is received then I have to wait to receive by mail another 7-14 days. I love the doctors and dentist assistants at Carolina Dentist, but these administrators have tarnished our relationship. I consider this as fraud and clearly there needs to be some sort of legal audit perform on the financial aspect of this company. They have lost two loyal customer. read more

I had my wisdom teeth pulled here a few days ago. Everything went fine, I just had a few issues with this office. First of all my apt was at 9am, my procedure didn't start until about 10:45. I don't know why would they schedule apt and not have everything ready when you get there. Than they thought I was there for a consultation, which means paying extra $189 just for that. Today was my very first visit, and WOW. It was better than I expected it to be! I just moved to NC from OC California, and I was so nervous. But Dr.Zukerman and the hygienist Sarah were so sweet, gentle, professional, and comforting! It was so awesome! My visit was more than I hoped it would be. I have to get quite a few things done, root canals, wisdom teeth, and fillings, and I am not even nervous about it, that's how gentle and comforting they were. Dr. Barbaro's assistant Melissa is THE BEST that there is. She was comforting, listened to my concerns and relayed them to the doctor. I am a Veteran and have been sent to CarolinasDentist by the VA. That entire process has been a horrible disaster but Dr. Harn. Kelly (An assistant) and Alyssa Front Desk) have all gone out of their way to help me. Alyssa contacted the VA to get a decision on my procedure and was very quick to call me and set up an appointment. Kelly was extremely patient and understanding about everything. She was extremely knowledgeable and her self-confidence put me at ease. Dr. Harn was also very patient with me even when my frustrations about the VA got the better of me. I give five stars to Dr. Mullen but I had to take off three for the unsanitary conditions of the office I sat in. All the bitewings were so filthy that they smelled and left a rancid taste in my mouth, and they did not put covers on them. The assistant also just tossed them up on the counter without removing the plastic covers, leaving my saliva germs on the counter. The camera they put in my mouth was also filthy... and no cover was used. I also got up and looked at the tools and the general area when I was left alone and the floor look like it hadn't been cleaned in a month or more. Extremely unsanitary conditions. read more

Every staff member is so nice and welcoming and you really get the best service that they can give from the clean atmosphere to blankets if you get cold to chooses of movies to watch while your at your appointments and financing options to really help you out and a dentist that actually cares dr.
