Plummeting customer service since Dr.Vissachelli sold the practice to Village Family Dental. The building is still lovely and the service & staff are average. I wish I could provide a good review because Dr. Vissachelli is wonderful with kids. We drive 40 minutes one way for our appointments. However, his office staff is extremely unprofessional and ruins the entire experience. Please do you due diligence and verify your insurance benefits because they are not competent in deciphering different plans and codes, even when provided with the explanation of benefits directly. I also did their job for them and called delta dental myself to verify the code they were using for a crown, that according to them was "not" covered, and wouldn't you know it is in fact covered. At this point my husband called to obtain our sons records so we could explore other clinics, they emailed a release form that we never sent back to the clinic while we made a final decision. I called this morning to speak to office staff regarding the insurance, and they stated our account was inactive although we never sent back a signed document stating we wouldn't be continuing care there, we simply just requested information on how to obtain records. So, if you call and act like someone's parent, and give the child's name they can deactivate your account with no verification (such as something in writing, or in-person to verify the actual person they are speaking to) but rather just assume based off a simple verbal phone call and hope for the best. Seems like a huge liability to me. The female I spoke to advised me her office manager was in a meeting (per usual) and would have to call me back but could not give me a time for when to expect her call (ex. today, tomorrow, etc.) Meanwhile, my 5 year old is in constant pain with a broken tooth. I can't stress enough that if your child isn't a literal robot, don't bring them here. My child was the slightest bit hesitant about getting imaging done as most kids are their first time. She wasn't causing a scene, just needed a soft tone and reassurance. She was pressured and told "no, you have to do it" over and over. Main dentist was very rude, front desk workers make it almost impossible to get your child seen. If you are a grandparent, step parent, not the actual biological parent they will put you through the ringer with questions etc as if you've done something wrong. If they have such strong policies, they should send an email or text before the appointment to notify. Their office is in the middle of no where so I assume most people are traveling 30+ mins to get there. My children have been going here for 4+ years and the last 2 appointments have been awful. I'm not sure what changed, but I'd rather travel 40+ minutes where my kids and I aren't treated with such attitude and as if we're inconveniencing their literal jobs. read more

BEWARE OF OVER-DIAGNOSIS - RECOMMEND SEEKING SECOND OPINION. For context - I am a dentist. I don't see my own children, because I work on post and only see Soldiers. My son was referred to this practice from a general dentist in our area due to some very minor cavities that were questionable, and one cavity that definitely needed a filling. When my son arrived at the pediatric practice, the only type of x-ray taken was a pano (the type that goes around your whole head) which anyone who works in dentistry knows - SHOULD NOT BE USED SOLELY TO DIAGNOSE CAVITIES. For that, bitewing x-rays need to be taken. This was not even offered to my wife when she took him there (when I called and spoke with Dr. V, he said that he didn't even offer to take them because "everyone says no.") We certainly would have said yes. Based on the referral from the other dentist that said "evaluate patient's molars and treat as needed." Dr. V took it upon himself to look at the Pano and from a non-diagnostic tool, diagnosed EIGHT STAINLESS STEEL CROWNS on all of my son's posterior teeth!! My wife called me and said this is what my son needed - to which I replied no he absolutely does not (as I had already seen the X-rays from the other dentist with very minor cavities.) My wife did not tell Dr. V or his staff that I am a dentist. Thank goodness that I am - as I realized how bogus this treatment plan was. We took my son to another local pediatric dentist, who did a full work up, including the proper type of radiographs and simply recommended a couple of small fillings! Confirming that the original treatment plan offered by this other guy was a gross example of over-diagnosis. I called and left a message for Dr. V to give me a call, and when he did he called me arrogant and defensive for taking the position of this being over diagnosis. I simply wanted to point out to him, that as a fellow dentist, I would recommend that in the future - he take his own radiographs to form a proper diagnosis and not simply go off of a referral and a non-diagnostic Pano. He repeatedly asked me if I was a "pediatric dentist" as if that is a requirement in order to recognize cavities in primary (baby) teeth. I promise, I'm not the type of person to leave a review online unless I truly feel like the public needs to know something. THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL PARENTS. This dentistry accepts a limited number dental insurance providers. They had recommended a high cost procedure for our daughter; we decided to shop around more because they were not going to accept our insurance. The Dental Hygienist attempted to single me out, and solicit, that I'd take out a credit card / personal loan to pay for the procedure. Since we decided to shop around, and not use Firehouse Dentistry, they issued us a termination of service letter, and called CPS. They attempted to mislead CPS by saying we had refused treatment, instead Firehouse terminated us as patients first. read more

These people are so rude and incompetent. They make mistakes and do not take accountability for where they went wrong. They refuse to take my son because he's on his father insurance and I couldn't provide a social security number granted I'm not with the father and don't have his social security number, I only had insurance policy which should be the only thing they need to be reimbursed for there services. So I told them to keep my twins appointment and cancel my son appointment. They take and wait till I drive 30 minutes to appointment to tell me that they closed all my children accounts out after I shared twice that I would keep the twins and cancel my son appointment . Still consistently excellent! I have been coming here for years with my son. Reminders are excellent and I love how they greeted my son even on his birthday via email! Their facility is always clean! Very kid friendly. The staff are very nice as well. I still come here even after moving out of the area and now living in Lillington. The prizes and goody bag is just the cherry on top! I have been taking my daughter here for about 3 years. We have not had one bad experience here. The practice is extremely kid friendly, decorated with kid friendly graphics (fire house dogs, snoopy etc) I always feel warm when I bring my daughter for her dental exams. The staff have always been professional and helpful. The hygienist have been trustworthy to and patient with her. Dr. V is as wonderful as his practice! He is always so nice and approachable. We have always been called within 5-10min of our appointment time and the total visit has never been more than 25-30min. I have only had dental exams and cleaning for my daughter so that time is based off of that particular service. This practice has done a wonderful job with my daughter and we trust them with her dental needs! She will be a patient there until we move out of the area. read more

My children have been attending the office for the past 5 years as we were recommended to office by an adult dental clinic and found out that the dentist had ties to the pediatric dentist our children were seeing in Tennessee. Today we had a very unprofessional office manager/ biller on a phone call. We called in to inquire about a call we had received earlier in the day asking us to pay a bill that clearly should be covered by our insurance. So we called the insurance company to verify the benefits and review the claim in question and they stated that the office needed to submit a report with the claim in order to process it. So we called Firehouse back to discuss with the billing department of our findings from the insurance company. Needless to say the office manager was extremely rude and became irate over the phone. Saying we will be sent and invoice and that she didn't have time to deal with this. Wow is all I can say after bringing my children to the office for 5 years it boils down to a $50 bill. We even offered to call the insurance company on three way in order to resolve any issues and so the office could hear first hand what was told to us. Our only goal was to resolve this bill. The customer service today was terrible, and not indicative of what our experience has been on the clinical side of the house. I would love to speak with Dr. V about this matter as he is a great provider and should not lose patients because of his office managers lack of patience and unprofessionalism. The above was the first strike, my wife has been going back and forth with the OM and Tricare and United Concordia all day and all we need is an Itemized bill and the original claim form. Should be an easy fix right? No, the OM said she couldn't do anything like to provide us that information if we didn't pay a $350 office fee because they aren't in network with Tricare. Wow, I am floored that as a servicemember and my children being dependents you would rather try and extort me than to help us to get you paid. No worries though, they just lost 4 clients. read more

For almost 2 years all 5 of my children have had a positive experience at firehouse dentistry. We have never had a major issue even when there was a billing issue caused by the office it was quickly, easily resolved in a civil manner. Today after my sons dental appliance broke in his mouth causing him to be unable to eat I called to try to schedule an emergency appointment to get it fixed. There was one available at 330 tomorrow October 19 2021 but as school pick up time is at 3 and I have 5 children from different schools to pick up it would be impossible to make it at that time. So, I asked if there was anything just slightly later then 330 so I could make it on time from the school and picking up all 5 of my kids. The office manager said to just pick him up early from school to which I replied that I cannot pick up all 5 of my kids up early and cannot pick only him up early since I have to get all of my kids by 3. The office manager said that that's all they had and that the next one would be after the new year. I questioned why an emergency visit would have to wait until the new year and why isn't it possible to fit him in between some appointments during the day. She mentioned that it's not an abscessed tooth it's not an emergency and that that was the time they had. As I was trying to ask what we were supposed to do as far as fixing it or if we needed to find another dentist to do it she interrupts and claims that I'm yelling at her. I stated I am not yelling at her I am trying to figure out what to do about the issue to which she interrupts and it's basically back and forth me trying to explain that I just needed him to have this appliance glued back in place it usually only takes the dentist 15 minutes and her saying there's nothing I can do. At this point I'm lost and just dumb struck by how this conversation is going and she some how finds a 1230 on Wednesday and I'm like ok I can pull just him out then that works and asked why wasn't that an option earlier and her response is it was a cancellation. Ok that's fine. I asked if I could schedule that and why this was such an issue and if I could speak to a manager. She responded she is the manager. I asked if I could leave a message for the dentist and her response was to get very upset and say that he doesn't call patients it's almost the end of the day and that he is "tired of people like you". Direct quote this manager stated that the dr is "tired of people like you". Been taking all 5 of my kids to this office for almost 2 years and one of my kids the one I was scheduling for goes once a month for his dental appliance so I have been in this office very frequently and never had an issue except when they accidentally double charged me for a procedure and that was fixed easily and in a civil manner. So history shows that this is not a me problem and other reviews also mention a not so nice and unprofessional manager. There was a little more said but basically I said I have never had an issue here with all of my children and we love the dentist and this is the first time I've had a major issue and I don't know if I want to stay with this office. She states well do you want this 1230 appointment and I can inactivate your account after the appointment. I said I need the appointment but I don't know if I want to inactivate the account since this has been the only issue and is there a way to leave a note with the dentist if not I can just talk to him Wednesday and she's like you can just talk to him Wednesday. Ok . That's the end of that and we hang up and I immediately find my kids another dentist who can see my son tomorrow so he can get his appliance fixed that is still half way in his mouth and be able to eat. I like 99% of this office and the dentist is nice and he really works with you and cares about the kids but there are 3 problems. Took my 2yo son here for his first dentist visit. I am so disappointed. We amped this up at home for the past week-reading books, talking about the dentist, telling grandma, etc. we were on time for our appointment, yet we're still not called back until 30 mins after our scheduled time. This made for a very antsy young child. The dental hygienist was friendly, thank goodness. When the dentist arrived, he did not even acknowledge my son, or try to make him feel comfortable. He immediately pulled him into a reclining position from sitting on my lap (as my son was nervous of the chair), forcefully opened his mouth, and stuck the electric toothbrush in his mouth. Rightfully so, my two-year-old begin to panic and started sobbing hysterically. The dentist continued to hold his mouth open and brush his teeth. He did not try to make it fun, or even show any compassion for the trauma my son was experiencing. I had to ask him to stop three times before the dental hygienist had to intervene and again say, "she said stop." The dentist then pushed back in his chair, snapped his gloves off, And proceeded to walk out of the room. I had to stop him and question "well can you please tell me if everything looks OK from what you saw." As a mother and professional myself, I feel that I should be able to trust another professional in their line of work, particularly when caring for my own son. I am still flabbergasted by the way in which my son was treated. When a parent tells you to stop doing something to their child, you listen. I felt violated and now my son will be scared of the dentist for a long time. It saddens me that one can advertise and hold specialty certifications as a "pediatric dentist specialist," and conduct a first pediatric dental exam in such way that occurred with my son. read more

I am a Grandmother of 4 children that live on the Army Base in North Carolina. My daughter called us on 2/14 and told us that she had taken the kids to the dentist. The results were shocking, 8+ teeth to be removed, a cap etc. Total bill of out of pocket of 1200+ dollars. We recommended she get a second opinion before she proceeded with the work. 2/15 my daughter received a call from school that our sweet 7 yr old Autistic grandsons mouth hurt so bad that she needed to pick him up. It seems that whatever happened on Tuesday at the dentist was still hurting. When she picked him up and called the dentist back, the dentist stated his tooth was probably Abcessed now and she should bring him in THE NEXT DAY2/16. We, told her absolutely not, take him to the ER and get antibiotics and we will find another dentist. Dad took sweet boy to the on-base ER they sat for hours, were only seen by a nurse and given Motrin. Again, we told her we would help find a new dentist in the a.m. 2/16. On 2/16 firehouse dental called my daughter she told them she was not coming to the appointment and that she would not be back. The office manager said the Dentist said he is calling CPS on her. This was at 8:00 a.m. in the morning on the east coast. We live in the Midwest, my daughter was waiting to hear from our home dentist a recommendation. Since the ER didn't give sweet boy antibiotics we suggested that she take him to urgent care. She did this immediately and in parallel we were able to find another pediatric dentist in the area to see him at noon. My daughter received a phone call from CPS that they would be there at 2:00 to visit. Unless and Until there is a law stating that you are required to go to a particular dentist- my daughter was exercising her parental rights. Be wary of this chop shop. Always read reviews. Choose carefully when you are looking for any care for you or your children. read more

When I informed the staff I can't make my appoiments I was told that nothing can be done come to shedual appoiments or going to get dis enrolled. So what is the point of sending the email and having me fill out the info if the appointment is never set up. We love this dentist!! We chose to have all of his dental work done under anesthesia at the hospital. He was comforting to both Myself and my husband as well as our boy. Nurses kept us updated and he even gave our son a stuffed puppy to ease his fears!! He is extremely informative and keeps us in the loop. I gave this one star because their waiting area and the machines the kids get to choose toys from at the end of the visit are awesome. However, the rest of the experience has pretty much been a flop for us. The first appointment with my youngest was not easy. She was throwing a fit. That isn't on them, that's on us. However, I kept trying to calm her down and the assistant told me it wasn't worth it because she wasn't going to stop. It may have been true, but to tell me to just stop trying to calm my child isn't ok. There was no empathy whatsoever. She was scared. For a pediatric dentist, you would think they would be a little more caring. Next, one of our appointments had to be rescheduled because a hygienist had to take off. This didn't bother me because things happen. I get that. However, when we got there our appointment was 45 minutes late. When I asked about how much longer it would be they got really offended saying I knew someone had called out. Yes, I did, but I wasn't told that I would have to wait a long time when I had already been called to reschedule the appointment. I asked if I could reschedule, but I was told that the next appointment was months away. I ended up staying. Finally, my daughter had cavities on her front two teeth. How that happened is beyond me because we brush her teeth twice a day, not juice, etc. Again, I realize things happen. We were told that she had a small cavity on the back of her tooth so we should just do silver fluoride to patch it. She may have a little black staining on the front of her tooth, but it would be minimal. We agreed to that. Once we got it completed BOTH of her front two teeth were black. It wasn't a little spot and it wasn't just one tooth. When we tried asking the dentist about this, he was very vague in his answers and soon walked out to his next patient. I ended up calling to ask more questions later. I ended up talking to the office manager and I'm not sure if she has a medical degree, but she was the only person that I was transferred to to talk about the situation. We were later told, asking if there was anything we could do to fix it, that she would have to be put to sleep to put caps on. We decided against this because she is already below what she should weigh for her age. Her pediatrician agreed with us on this. We called to tell them the situation and my husband was told that are only other option was strapping her down to the chair in their office and the mother wouldn't be allowed in. I'm sorry. You aren't taking my kid for a procedure, strapping her down, and then not letting me in. We have decided to go somewhere else because we feel as though the office staff has been incredibly rude, unwelcoming, inconsiderate, and just looking for the next patient to get in and out. We also feel as though they have used scare tactics when telling us what we need to get completed to her. After talking to another dentist for a second opinion, we had several more options for her than what was completed. We will be taking both of our children elsewhere and I will not be referring any other people when they ask for a good pediatric dentist. This isn't it. read more

I really thought I had found a great dentist for my kids. Unfortunately I was wrong. Yes the staff is very friendly and the environment is great but the diagnoses are far fetched. I have been taking my kids every 6 months for routine cleaning since their first tooth so red flags went up when I was told my child needed 4 root canals during a routine cleaning. Long story short I took my son to my dentist and he needed two fillings that were so superficial he didn't even need to be numbed! A dentist visit with my sister, who had Down's Syndrome/Trisomy 21 Every single person in this office is kind, patient, compassionate, and truly excellent at what they do for the patients and their families. I cannot tell you how relieved I am to be with such a great group. My sister understands that the people here are wanting to help her and she appreciates it. I wish I had found them years ago. Well here I am again after my Son's no cavity 6 month check up and cleaning this morning. Dr.V's staff are still amazing, the office is very clean, the "after care" bags of goodies they give the children are still good quality and fun! right now they have alot Halloween themed decorations and displays and nice Halloween themed books for the children to read, as usual kids are there playing video games inside the office and being content while they wait. This is the only doctor office I ever been to full of kids and they are all calm quiet and content. It is a pleasure to bring my son here. They are friendly and efficient in a timely manner. you aren't sitting there forever like at some offices, I wouldn't have minded a few more minutes. I was enjoying watching an old episode of Tom & Jerry that was playing on 1 of the 2 t.v.'s they have there. I recommend Dr.V to everyone I know with children. read more

Extremely upset with the professionalism of the dentist. My 3 year old son had his 6 month check up today and went in with a positive attitude and excited about the dentist. Once the dental assistant started brushing his teeth, he got scared and started crying. She was able to brush his top teeth, but left the bottom teeth for the dentist to finish. I understood that we were going to have to hold him down to finish the job, but my son started choking so I asked for him to be sat up and give him a break to collect himself. The dentist still had one tooth left to brush, but instead proceeded to walk out of the room without saying a word. I asked the dental assistant if he was coming back, and she said no and that I had upset him by asking him to SIT MY SON UP WHILE HE WAS CHOKING. Are you kidding me? I asked if he had any cavities and the response I got was "He wouldn't have left if there were any." I expressed my feelings about his unprofessionalism and she excused his behavior with "it's been a long day." I understand people have bad days, but this was outrageous. OBVIOUSLY if someone is choking they need to sit up. I shouldn't even have had to tell him. This is my son's second time at the dentist. The first time was great, but obviously only because my son did so well that time. I'm not sure why this dentist works in a PEDIATRIC dental office if he cannot handle when kids are upset. I am so upset and now my son is terrified of the dentist. I used to rave about this place, but I will no longer do that. read more

I would warn anyone who wants to go here to seriously think twice!!! I think we went to Dr. Vincicelli (sp?) maybe for a year and a half. My oldest daughter had some cavity issues. Looking at the x-ray they looked very much like surface cavities to me and after asking the dentist confirmed it. I asked if he could just do a filling instead of caps since they're so small and he explained they don't do fillings... ? Never heard of a dentist not offering fillings before. He told me they will sometimes fall out and insurance won't cover replacing them. Don't know if that's true or not but a different dentist filled a tooth with no problem. The only other alternative was to do a polpotomy (sp) which is like a root canal for children. He wanted to do this 7 or 8 times on her. Another thing is he doesn't use a needle to numb the mouth which is covered by insurance, only gas which isn't covered, so the fact that he was all concerned about insurance not covering a replacement filling is a little absurd. The cost for each cap with insurance was about $500 or so and the out of pocket for me was almost $200 each cap. I ended up doing the three worst ones but after going to a different dentist I wish I had gotten a second opinion first. He is going to fill only one of the other teeth and said the others weren't that bad. The cost of one filling total is $60. Out of pocket for me is about $25. I spent almost $600 on caps that probably just could've been filled! It's so wrong for a dentist or doctor of any kind to make people think it's detrimental to fork out that much money and make their kids endure what essentially is a root canal when something simpler, less painful, less invasive and cheaper could've been done instead! When I asked if I could get a second opinion he made me feel like if I didn't do it asap she would be in so much pain! Since I only had three of them done almost a year ago now, and she still isn't complaining of the other teeth hurting I think he just is in it for the money. So not happy and feeling like he took advantage of me not having gone to dental school therefore not knowing if what he said was really true or not.
