Some family members were visiting from out of town, and we came here for a wine and chocolate tasting / pairing. We called in advance and they bought 2 bottles of well-pairing wine (very good wines) out of courtesy that were there when we arrived. Tony, our primary chocolate coach, taught us so much about where chocolate originated, how it's made, and how flavors are manipulated. We sampled both milk and dark chocolates (more than I can count) and he explained each and every one of them. Seriously, it's insane how much this guy knows about chocolate. And he's happy to answer any of your questions -- no matter how silly or uneducated. We were there for over an hour and a half and we never got bored. I actually was full by the time we left and we were very happy to buy about 25 piece of chocolate on the way out. My family and I came here after having lunch in the downtown. Carol is friendly and helpful. I let her know what kind of chocolates Peej and I liked (millk chocolate, anything with nuts, caramel, etc...) and she let us sample a few of her favorites. All delicious. I got a box of 8. I got an assortment of milk chocolates with caramel and their famous "crack" chocolates which are so good! I let her pick the last 2 which were dark chocolates filled with liquor. I ate most of the box at home with a glass of wine. I can't wait to go back and get more. read more

Carol was so charming and a great saleswoman. I was just stopping in to browse and maybe get a piece or two, but after sampling a few truffles, I ended up buying near a pound! Carol's chocolates are great because of the quality of the chocolate (she specializes in single source) and the fillings are not overly sweet. I only wish she used unique molds for each type of truffle so you could identify them. read more

Crack pops, and everything else is yummy! I went in one night to find some good chocolate for my husband's birthday. The owner talked to me for a long time about the chocolate and where it came from. She gave me a taste of two different items, which were delicious. I bought a crack pop and a few small squares of chocolate, which were very good. My husband recently went back and bought some chocolate for the kids and I. The chocolate with raspberry inside was delicious! The hot chocolate was so think you almost had to chew it. It had a delicious flavor but an odd texture, almost as though the skin had formed on top many times and was stirred into the drink. Even though I did not like the texture, I kept drinking it for the taste! So far, I've loved all of the chocolates from here. read more

When I was called that my order was ready for pick up they said it would cost $638.00!!! I was told that the price was missed quoted to me and there was very little they could do about it. I purchased a chocolate painting of Starry Night as a graduation gift for my best friend. He couldn't believe how detailed and accurate the painting was. The fact that the entire thing, frame and all, was made out of his favorite dark chocolate was just the icing on the cake. He said that this was the most thoughtful gift he's ever received, so I have Carol's to thank for making this the perfect present. I had just ate Sushi Palace next door, and was feeling a little nauseous from the not so fresh all you can eat sushi and needed something sweet to counteract the nausea. The first place we saw was Carol's Chocolatez and went in without much though. We were greeted by, Carol (I'm assuming), who was super sweet and offered us some samples. The first one was the praline filled truffles, which is her specialty and she includes some cookie crumbs in it the filling, and it was SOOOO good. It made me completely forget about my nausea. At this point, I probably could have just left, but felt bad and decided to buy a small box with a few of her choices. I had one with a red wine filling which was yum, pink lemonade filling which I questioned but now I LOVE it, caramel with some nuts, and I have two others which I haven't tried yet, I think one is salted caramel which i'm pretty excited for. My favorite so far is the Praline, and can't wait to go back and get more. My regret is getting such a small box. The chocolates are pricey though. I think it came out to almost a buck per chocolate but they are delicious. read more

Not to be cheesy, you you really can taste the love in these little bites of heaven. My husband and I went into this chocolate shop on a random stroll down Division and not only did we get to sample the most diverse and well-crafted chocolates, we got a mini lesson on chocolate from Carol herself. You can tell she is a true expert in her field. There are chocolates made from cocoa beans from all over the world! She also develops (with great care and trial and error) the insane fillings in each chocolate. A sample of what I had tonight - a milk chocolate from Ghana with banana filling (a whip of bananas and white chocolate), a dark chocolate with a caramel and scotch filling, and another chocolate from Ghana with praline filling (each little piece popped in my mouth). Be on the lookout for upcoming chocolate making and wine pairing classes coming here soon! They are also starting a coffee bar with regional coffee beans. I went to Carol's for the first time last night. This place is great. Carol and the gentleman there were extremely hospitable, really knew about chocolate and were genuinely interested in teaching me about what's out there in the chocolate world (of which I've barely touched the surface). They were generous with free samples and really made the visit entertaining and fulfilling. Above all, the chocolate was out of this world. It will be very difficult to eat any lesser quality of chocolate after trying theirs. If you want to have the most heavenly European chocolate experience, go to Carol's Creative Chocolatez! The Satchmos are my absolute favorite--like a grown-up Almond Joy, but way better, and not as sweet. The botanical chocolate bars (lavender-yum!) are absolutely dreamy, and the peanut butter melt always are scrumptious! I have to buy the nut bars for my parents and for my husband, my son loves it all, and so do I. If it sounds like I've tasted everything, it's because I have!!! Oh, and after a stressful day, who wouldn't benefit from a little CBD chocolate-- mild herbal/earthy taste, and after about 15-20 minutes, all your stress melts away. And most importantly, Carol and Tony are two of the nicest and friendliest people you'll ever meet. I know enough about chocolate to know what I like and it usually costs quite a bit for the good stuff. I've frequented the Godiva in the Bridgewater Commons Mall for personal purchases and gifts in the past...no more. I found Carol's chocolates to be superior in flavor at quite the discount from other higher end chocolates. There's an adventurous selection and I thoroughly enjoyed each variety I've tried. At the end of the day, I keep coming back to the peanut butter filled dark chocolate truffles. Carol is clearly a chocolate savant who is generous with her knowledge and product. She even paints portraits using only chocolate (Who does that? Yes, they're on display and available for purchase as well). Do yourself a favor, grab a bite at one of Somervile's excellent eateries, skip dessert and go visit Carol's. While you're there, pick up a pound for mom (you really need to call her). read more

I flew in from San Francisco to celebrate my sister's birthday there with a chocolate extravaganza of tasting and making and learning about the mystery of chocolate. The place is wonderful, bright and cheerful. The staff is gifted, welcoming and creative. The chocolates are simply divine. I feel like I missed out on something after reading all the reviews, but not sure I'll go back due to the prices. I wasn't given one sample even after asking. She explained how certain chocolates that I wanted to try were made, which is nice, but an explanation won't get me to buy it - a taste will. When walking into a chocolate store you expect to be greeted with some chocolate, no?? Mouth watering but only bought a few pieces since I had no idea of the taste or quality. Chocolate turned out to be delicious and I definitely would've bought more if I had been able to get a feel for her style before purchasing. Came near closing time and my boyfriend and I got the feel we were a bother. I'm sure many sample and dash, but it's a risk you take in that type of business. read more

Had a great visit to this shop today! We stumbled upon the shop as we were attending a birthday party at the place across the plaza. Carol and her business partner Tony are very friendly and accommodating. We were offered samples to try and left with a box of chocolates! I've had a lot of high end chocolates and the caramels are the best I've had. It's a good sturdy caramel that hangs around in your mouth for a while, not overly liquid caramel like most chocolates. read more
