Adorable ice cream parlor in downtown Bernardsville. Each ice cream comes with a Swedish fish -- because what penguin doesn't love their fish! Love that touch and the cute theme.

The ice cream shop is located in a lovely area which is great to walk around while you enjoy. The shop is small and the staff is a bit slow (young people and not 100% paying attention to who is on line or who is next), but the quality of the ice cream is great and the prices are reasonable. They have refrigerators with cakes, cupcakes, and to go options, too. I liked that they're open until 10pm on weekends.

I came here when i was looking for an ice cream shop while house sitting for my sister in bedminster. This place had some good icecream. The worst part about this place is parking but you can find a spot on the street. The lot next to the building is for the apartments behind and there are signs saying they will tow. They had a good selection of flavors and the staff was really friendly. If you live local and haven't check out this spot you should stop by.

I got the coffee oreo ice cream and it was delicious! It tasted very creamy and I liked that the oreo chunks were soft. I also thought the Swedish fish topping was awesome. I've never seen that at other ice cream places! There's limited seating which isn't an issue during the colder seasons and off peak hours. But I can imagine during the warmer months you'd have to eat your ice cream outside. There's very limited street parking near the store. Definitely try to grab a spot if you can outside the train station.

Awesome Ice cream, home made , cute place . Keaton behind the counter is the best! Plenty of parking and plenty of flavors. Cherry Vanilla is my favorite.

Even though I'm a simple chocolate gal, my family loves all the "fixins" and specialty flavors they offer. The hot chocolate is excellent. Here's how it works if you don't know. Sign up for their text messages and provide them with the pertinent information about your delivery location. Scream will send you a text message with a 1-hour time frame during which they will be in the area. Once you confirm you want delivery, they will send a link to the current menu. Scream states, "Pre-orders must be placed at least 15 minutes before your route's start time." Place your order, and they will confirm via email that the order was received. They give you a choice: either have it left for you on your porch or patio, or greet the truck. This may clear up any confusion among some of the negative reviewers. My grand-nephew, who is two years old, loves to greet them!! The truck usually has some good upbeat music playing, too. My only gripe is that they seem to schedule deliveries in our area before and around dinnertime. But I understand Scream has so many areas to cover. The people working on the truck are very nice and good at what they do! I did hear some locations are going to start delivering pizza.

We recently attended a birthday party where the party hosts rented out the Scream Truck (which I had NEVERRR heard of before the party) for the latter part of their party. I would guess that the truck was present at the party and parked outside of the hosts' house for at least 1-2 hours so the guests DEFINITELY got their money's worth. Let me just say that they absolutely DID NOT skimp on the soft serve ice cream at all and we were verrrry surprised at not only the variety of options, but just the sheer amount of ice cream swirls being given to guests - whether it was in one of their signature sundaes, signature cones, shakes or if you built your own cone. In terms of the variety, I think we would have been jussst fine if they offered a few options for us to select from, but it seemed like their ENTIRE menu was available for our pickings. And to top it off, the sundaes and cones were MASSSSIVE and beyonddd generous. There were toddlers that were under 5 years old holding cones larger than their heads!! I kid you not. Besides the seemingly endless ice cream concoctions and mounds of ice cream on each order, the employees making the orders took their time and made sure that each order was just right, so even though it did take awhile to fulfill each person's request, it was well worth the wait because of how well constructed the orders were. With all of the above praise said, if I were to nitpick, it would have been that they only offered vanilla, chocolate or a mixed swirl. However, I do understand that those are the 2 most common soft serve flavors and even establishments like Wendy's didn't offer any other Frosty flavors until their recent explosion in variety. Overall, as a guest of a party who rented out this truck, I was 1000% satisfied with our ice cream and the generosity of the portions. I don't know what the rental fee is for this truck (I'm sure it costs a pretty penny), but if you want to reallllly "WOW" your guests, this IS without a shadow of a doubt the truck to rent (especially in the summer).

This looks like a good old fashioned ice cream parlor so the name is certainly fitting. Maybe 3 tables with chairs inside and a few more outside. They sell a lot of flavors of ice cream from unicorn (berry ice cream based!) to seasonal flavors like apple pie. They also have sundaes, milkshakes, soft serves, ice cream cookies sandwiches, and maybe even more that I completely missed. Oh yes! And a vegan selection which was a pleasant surprise for my sister who is vegan. We ended up getting: Cookies and Cream (1 scoop) in a wafer cone - this was for one of my kids. A classic flavor and it was full of cookie chunks. Also, I just add that "one scoop" was HUGE and could have easily been 2 scoops. My kid wanted whipped cream on top and the server said it would be too high and we got a small cup full of whipped cream on the side. Soft serve (vanilla) in a cup - got this for my kid with the food allergies. Soft serve tends to be safe as long as you're not allergic to milk. He originally wanted a twist, but they only had soft serve at the time. He liked it fine and ate half (it's quite a lot of it for a 4 year old). Cookie Butter (1 scoop) in a cup [vegan] - my vegan sister got this to share with her husband. It's actually not listed on the board but the flavor she wanted was out (something about raspberry chocolate chunk). They said it was good but it did have a more crumbly texture and they said there was the flavor of banana in it. I wonder what the base is for their vegan ice cream! I didn't get anything for myself because I ended up eating half of the cookies and cream and finishing the soft serve. If I did? I'd probably try a seasonal flavor in a waffle cone. With the exceptional service and great value and taste of the ice cream, this is definitely the place to go if you're nearby. I'd definitely go again if I had the chance. And if you're vegan, you have a decent amount of fun flavors to choose from! They don't have public restrooms and there's only street parking, but it's free.

I try to keep my consumption of it down to once a month. For the most part, I'm successful. There's a whole story behind Zita's. It was started in 2000 and named after Grandmother Zita Elefante. I've passed this place countless times, but I've never been a regular patron, although that's changing. I'm pretty certain that my ice cream jones will be with me until the day I die, and Zita's is close by. In recent years, I've divided my ice cream consumption between 2 places, (maybe 3), for the most part. The Polar Ice Cream stand on Rt. 22 in Whitehouse is very good. Unfortunately, it's closed in the winter (do people not eat ice cream in the winter? I know this addict does). And if you park at Polar at the wrong time of day in the summer, you'll be subjected to a very long line and suddenly extremely limited parking. There's also Gronsky's Milk House in High Bridge. Nice store that serves other things besides ice cream (1 day I'll have to sit down there and order a meal). During the initial days of Covid, when I was driving all over this part of NJ to do my food (and toilet paper) shopping, I'd often stop here on my way home for a milk shake. Oftentimes, that was my "main meal" of the day. Great milk shake! Unfortunately, I'm not out in High Bridge all that much anymore, and I continue craving ice cream in the winter, when Polar in Whitehouse is closed. I've occasionally patronized the Penguin Ice Cream store in Bernardsville, but their hours are haphazard, and parking is hard to come by. So, I've been stopping by Zita's with increasing frequency. There's ample parking in back, a porch on the side for those who wish to sit outside in the fresh air, and within the store itself, service is fast, efficient and... generally speaking...friendly. A few months ago, I stopped in for a vanilla milk shake. The main guy there, perhaps the owner, was doing some major renovative work but he dropped what he was doing to serve me. When I indicated I wanted hard ice cream in the shake rather than soft, he seemed a bit put out (or that could have just been my overactive imagination), but I got the shake quickly, and it was delicious. Today, I stopped in for an ice cream cone. There were some exotic flavors available, which I'm not necessarily averse to (I'm capable of being as experimental as anybody when it comes to food; my only concerns are how it might affect my increasingly delicate digestion), but when push comes to shove, I'm essentially a purist. I didn't see it being offered in the bins up front, so I asked the pleasant young woman serving me if they had chocolate chip. They did. I was asked which type of cone I wanted. I wanted the standard sugar cone with 2 scoops. Prices seemed fair, and I was happy to leave a tip in the customary tip jar. I've sometimes had problems with the tip jar, which seems ubiquitous wherever you go these days, whether you're in a 7-11, a Dunkins, Starbucks, McDonald's, etc. (I can never get the discussion about "tip etiquette" between Steve Buscemi and Harvey Keitel in "Reservoir Dogs" out of my head anytime I'm faced with a tip jar). This time? Didn't bother me. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. I got 2 huge scoops balanced on the sturdy cone, with a presumably hygienic paper wrapped around the base to satisfy the germ paranoia of mind-crippled neurotics like yours truly! I tipped with pleasure. Perhaps my diet IS working, because getting through those 2 huge scoops required a tremendous (albeit delightful) effort on my part. My days of drunk/opioid-dazed driving are long, long behind me (thank whatever God or Gods might exist for my continued sobriety!), but on this occasion, I was driving with 1 hand on the wheel while licking frenetically at the ice cream cone to keep the ice cream from melting all over me in the summer heat. I succeeded for the most part, but maybe next time I should eat it while parked, or while sitting at the patio next door. I was sober, of course, but not necessarily driving safe. In other words, don't follow my bad example. Don't drive while eating ice cream. Get a designated driver to transport you, or...better yet...eat in in your parked car, or at the convenient patio located on the side of the store. Bottom line? Great place, great ice cream.
